My 2015 has 16GB and quite a few of the older models can be upgraded to 32GB. Come on Apple!

Are the speakers and screen the same as the M1 14 inch MBP? I sold mine but I miss the quality on the Air

The OS alone takes up a few GB.
And then the ssd which will be used as a ram scratch fisk is also slower on the base model it appears..
No egpu or internal ram and ssd upgrades ever .

Thank you, for another excellent post. My problem is since, I own an Apple desktop. How would, I also make use of an Apple laptop. Now back in the days before iPads, Apple laptops made a lot of since to me: they had internal DVD super-drives to load and burn both CD-ROM's and DVD's; they had lots of ports "audio in", "audio out"; and the Apple logo on the back would also light-up. With my basic iPad 9th generation paired with a Logitech combo keyboard again, why buy an Apple laptop? (smile...smile).
I really wouldn’t recommend someone get the base MBP with only 8GB of memory. 16 gigs is the base requirement. I have the base M1 Pro MacBook Pro, and I’m almost always running at 12-13gb of ram being utilized during normal tasks. Websites are way more memory taxing than they used to be, so 16GB is mandatory.

I do not see a reason to change my M1 AIr to Base M3 model. 8GB of RAM is not enough, and then if you upgrade to 16GB you are close to M2 Pro ... and so on, and you end up with 16" M3 MAX :D.
i have MacBook Air M1 too but only 8ram and 256go, it's really not enough for me today. So m3 1To with 16ram is the best one to buy.

I literally bought a Dell computer with 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, 14" touchscreen, 13th i7 intel processor with 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports, SD card reader and a 2.1 HDMI brand-new for $732. Sure, it may not be as powerful as an M3, but it's all the power I need for work. This, ain't it for $1,600.
