Hi Guys,
How is everyone doing? This week so have so many videos coming out which I am so excited about! For this one I changed the style of filming and editing a little bit. What do you guys think of this? Do we like the face to face cooking or this peaceful style better?
About 2 weeks ago, my friend Jessie gave me a Korean cookbook from her chef friend Shin. In that same week I found an amazing Japanese supermarket around the corner from my place where I started to do more groceries. After I watched the episode from a Buddhist monk named Jeong Kwang in Chefs Table I felt so inspired to try Korean Temple Food for myself!
We have all our own unique relationship with food. Sometimes good and maybe sometimes bad. But I feel what all brings us together is that we care about what we put into our body and how it makes us feel!
I found the way the monks approach their ingredients, the food, and the cooking so fascinating and inspiring. Their belief that clean food will give you a clean body which turns into a clean mind seemed so simple and beautiful. I feel this comes all back to our wellness month and shows us how mindfulness and healthy eating habits go together.
I definitely wanna learn more about different cuisines around the world so please comment down below as well your favorite dish from your town or country!
I hope you guys enjoy this recipe and the video! I linked all the ingredients and instructions down below.
Much Love,
Sanne
Braised Shiitake Mushroom with Rice Molasses
by Jeong Kwan
Ingredients:
10 Shiitake Mushrooms
2 TBSP Soy Sauce (gluten free)
1 cup Water
1 TBSP Perilla Seed Oil
2 TBSP Rice Molasses (substitute with honey or maple syrup)
1 TBSP Sesame Seed Oil
Cooking:
Remove the stems from the mushrooms and rinse quickly with running water.
Steam mushrooms lightly in a steamer.
In a pan, add soy sauce, water and perilla seed oil. Bring to a boil.
Add steamed mushrooms. Reduce the liquid in half. Baste the mushroom with liquid.
Add rice molasses, continuously baste the mushrooms until they began to have a shine.
Off heat, add sesame seed oil and toss well.
I really love this dish and have already made it for Max and me twice this week. Let me know if you try it and if you do - I'd love to see what you paired it with!

About 500 confirmed cases everyday, so the social distancing level raised few days ago😥 Restaurants are still opened but coffee shops only allow takeaway.. My French friend is still traveling all around Korea now, so I think you can come after the situation get a little bit relieved!

7:17 I loved your vídeo. Have a nice day
Perilla oil is amazing. I've never heard of its english name, so I didn't know what it is at first. It's a kind of Korean spice which is used in every food like veggies, meats, soup and so on. I definitely like it more than sesame oil
Hi sanne! As a pet owner my self, I would totally recommend you to get a puppy! But remember adopt don’t buy! There are thousands of amazing creatures out there who are looking for a loving home.❤️
That recipe looks yummy.
It’s delicious

Absolutely addicted to kabocha squash....love using it in place of pumpkin puree too🙋🏻♀️😍
Right! I adore every kind of squash ahah
@@SanneVloet haha sameeee!
Watched Sami Clarke one video about what she eats in a week didn’t like it at all. Your eating habits and recipes are wholesome which I as a mon of two teenage daughter would love to cook and feed my girls. God bless!
love that u featured korean food here!! im korean and would love to try this
I love Korean food❤️❤️❤️ any other Korean recipes I should try?
im korean but im not entirely sure on temple food, but what you say about the pungent food makes a lot of sense. garlic is probably one of the most common ingredients used in a huge majority of korean dishes, but similar to the other ingredients you mentioned, they cause your breath to smell, and its quite difficult to get rid of that flavour in your mouth. they are definitely pungent ingredients, and it makes sense that they get rid of it in their diet to find better focus.
The 5 pungent food is true! In Taiwan's Buddhist temples, some monks avoid food with those five ingredients :)
6:23 you can use the microwave to heat the dish?
Thanks for cooking Korean food 🇰🇷❤️
I wanna come to Korea!!! How is it there now?
@@SanneVloet sadly, here is getting dangerous now :( I hope you’ll come to Korea when covid19 is gone! 🥺❤️❤️
