    Perfect video and explanation of concepts, and just in time for my students’ lab practical on recrystallization. Thanks Professor Dave!

      I had my lab on this three weeks ago! Wish Dave had this video earlier, you really have labs late in the term, it's our exam period rn

    Thank you. I always appreciate the effort you go to with your videos. Well presented with just enough of the required ephemera.

    Hey, I have friends and roommates that work for Thermo Fischer scientific. What a fun coincidence that they sponsored one of my favorite UA-camrs.

    very complete! And I agree that trituration (forcing the solvent out by the addition of a less soluble solvent) often results in a less pure product.

    Will you do more in-depth concepts in multivariable calculus, like the Jacobian matrix?

    We used to do these for derivative tests... and then match the m.p. to literature value to confirm the compound

    5:17 Why do we have to use the minimum amount of solvent? Is it just to avoid wasting it or something? Or is there another reason?

    • @keypo790
      @keypo790 Рік тому

      Its because the experiments relies on Solubility Curve.

      its better to use the smallest amount of solvent to minimize the amount of material lost by retintion in the mother liqour

    This video reminds me of being a meth head in my 20s. Wouldn’t recommend it 😂. I used to “wash” it in acetone. To clean out impurities .. Have no clue what that was doing scientifically. But it sure made you higher 😅😮. Hey Dave. What would be the science of that lol ? You probably more an idea than I
