I noticed the same with my scalp as well after getting my microlocs, but after using rose water spray and Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp and Hair Strengthing oil its went completely away. I was listening to people who said they never mist their hair nor put oil on their scalp. I spoke to my loctition and was more comfortable to do what worked best for my hair and scalp. I mist and oil my hair/scalp 2-3 times a week.

I currently have a loctician but I went to another for a consultation. I paid $50 for consultation that did not go towards my appointment and then I paid $200 for her to start interlocking my hair to the tip. We literally didnt get through a full section of my microlocs. Her suggestion instead of interlocking my current microlocs to tip was to comb them all out. That would cost me $650 and then another $1100 to start my microlocs over again but this time fully interlocked. Umm no. So needless to say I am going back to my old stylist who interlocks my roots for $96 every 5-6 weeks. I want to learn how to do my own tho. Thats next on the agenda.

KS. NB: the lady who did my hair is not a loctician, but is certified in sisterlocs. Microloc Install: $150. I started out with HIGHLY uneven hair length. 7” in some places and 14” in others. She interlocked my roots and two strand twisted the rest of my hair (per my request). Retie: $75 ever 5 weeks. I LOVE MY HAIR! I’ve received nothing but compliments about my hair.

I hear you but I have diy-ed mine from start to every re-tie of my 300+ locs. Grand total on $0 outside of aloe vera water. I really like the connection I have and a deeper understanding. The only cost has been the time. My reties are truly relaxing. I am 7 months and finally allowing someone else to retie my microlocs which will be $125. I encourage everyone to get to know their hair as they continue on their loc journey. It is very empowering. I am in Houston

It was around $800 for my microlocs (without a tip). I have about 460. I originally wanted sisterlocs, but I didn't want my reties to be so long. I actually like my edges to look fuzzy, so I get reties every 7-8 weeks. Reties range from $120 to $135. I live in Atlanta proper. My loctician is in highhhhhh demand.

  • @futuredr.e9763

I live in Seattle, my reties are $200 every 6 weeks. She is about 15 mins away but the time it takes her to retie, I don't want to discuss.. way more than 2 hours. I was quoted $1800-$2500 for initial install. I'm from MS and it was more cost efficient to fly home and let a loctician install for $600.

    • @ByCrystalWilliams
      @ByCrystalWilliams  Рік тому +3

now $200 for more than two hours sounds wild BUT if I put my 2 hours of road time and 2 hours of retie time im technically at 4+ hours for $200 we might be lowkey at the same im just on that road forever lol

Greetings your cons were spot on! I had Sisterloc’s for 7 years and recently shaved them off myself.
Pricing: my install was $800 took about 18 1/2 hours
    Retie: $120-200 every 4 weeks-8 weeks
Seborrheic Dermatitis: flares were insane even with a plantbased diet. I want able to wear my hair up or covered for long. My flares are not as bad with the cut ( it’ll be one month since the shave in about 2 weeks).
    Great video

Would you all consider micro locs if the crown of the head has some issues with baldness patterns? I think it's a sress point. My dermatologist took a biopsy which came back negative about 8 years ago. Ive been a press n curl since childhood and went straight natural in 2005 ( no more pressed hair). I hesitate due to my baldness. 😢@ByCrystalWilliams

I’m in Charlotte, NC but my stylist/loctician is based in VA (my hometown) and I paid $1070 with some additional services. My first retie is in Sept. and I’m anticipating a cost but I was paying $500 bimonthly and up to $250 the alternative months on my hair care and styles. These retirees are going to cut my hair cost down drastically thank goodness 😅

Dermatitis……look at the ingredients in your shampoo. The sulfates are a culprit. When I loc, I will still use a clarifying shampoo without the harmful ingredients and then follow with a moisturizing shampoo. I use brands like Innercense and Malibu C. I’m researching the Loc Sanity line right now.

It's a well known fact that conditioner prevents the hair from locing (it's literally what we use to detangle our hair). I think your hair is a good example fir that. If you like the frizziness thats ok. Personally, I wouldnt want my locs to be this frizzy one year in to the journey.

Hello I'm in TN. I go home to NC or MD whenever I want anything done(hair, nails, good food, car repair..). PERIOD! (Now if time is not on my side I go to GA). Quotes I received ranged from $900-$3200, I refused(yes I have paid those amounts for weaves long ago). With family discount I paid $25 for consultation($75), locs $650($875+, depends on length), and maintain/retwist $120($275).
    *Now a few things here:
    1. Cost for hair today, $0. I did hair for over 20yrs, so I chose to invest TIME into myself and do my own hair.
    2. Less product of any kind works for me. Simplicity is key for my baby soft, cottony, thick, super curly hair.(took 2yrs to lock and still some didn't)
    3. Locs started doing what locks do....😢😢😢...I took them out and then decided to cut my hair down to nothing.(family was not happy and neither was I)
    4. Set aside the time. Pray for patience. Love your hair in whatever way you are doing/wearing it. Enjoy the journey.
    5. Already had scalp and hair issues, plus declinced health. Meaning I understood breakage, hair loss, irritated scalp, and more.
    6. No hair style is maintenance "free"!
    7. Length and size matters to me! Length and size will play a part in your locs and how they progress.
    8. Make sure, make sure the person(if not you) is extremely knowledgeable and respects your hair. You have a right, it's your hair!
*Currently been wanting my locks back. So I have set aside dates of Oct.18th-24th, 2023....we'll see what happens.
** Cut original locks off in 2021 after 4 years(6yrs, if you count time took to lock).

I live in California, my loctian lives about an hour and a half away when there’s no traffic 😂. But in total I paid close to $900 for my hair. She took into account my length and the density of my hair, my retire cost a total of $190 and that’s every five weeks. The way I see it, it will always cost an arm and a leg to get my natural hair done the only difference is now it’ll cost me a little over $2000 a year instead of a couple months when you add up the cost of braids, weaves, wigs and hair products(that’s not even including some stylists don’t provide the hair so you gotta spend money on that too). With Micro locs, sister locs, and locs in general you’re paying for the service instead of the service and the product if that makes sense. That’s why it’s an investment honestly. I bit the bullet this month and did my re-tie myself, I had to move my appointment further in September because life was doing too much.
