    Omg I have been wanting to learn this technique for years your videos are very clear and I can't wait to try it. I have been altering couture and wedding gowns and prom dresses and formal wear for years. I quite often have to take off this type of embroidery to get to the side seams and bust seams, I have become very proficient at hand sewing them back on to mimic the designs. For alterations I would not be able to use the hoop technique but I've always wanted to do this for my own designs. I'm ordering a hook today and I can't wait to give this a shot. Thank you very much for all your hard work on the videos you're a very talented young lady.

    Thank you so much for this series; it was truly riveting. I loved the advice you gave, as it seems to be wonderfully applicable to other artistic ventures. I'd love to see more videos on design elements, planning a project, color theory, etc...

    The V&A also has a whole section of embroidery samples too - there is a section I think on the 2nd floor where there are just a bunch of cabinets with narrow drawers. Looks like nothing until you open a drawer and see the beautiful samples inside!

    I have been bringing in this wonderful series since discovering you earlier today, and am finally feeling like I'm understanding how tambourine embroidery works. I feel really ignorant about beads and brands of beads and which are good quality and where to source them in the UK, so thank you for mentioning brands and names. So many fantastic tips! Thank you and looking forward to your future posts.

      Thank you so much!! I'm so glad it's been helpful!! Unfortunately I probably can't help too much with UK suppliers but some of those brands should definitely be available!

    Hi Kat, I have really enjoyed your video. Thank you so much, they have been really easy to follow. I do have one question and one request though. Question - how do you work with the skeins of beads? Do you use the thread they are come pre-strung on or do you transfer them to your own threads? Request -would you consider making a video showing how you sew your organza embroidery into a garment? Perhaps you could give some idea of how close to the seam lines you can go with the embroidery. Do you sew the garment and handstitch the organza over the top or do you use a machine to attach the organza to a base fabric?

    • @katmakes
      @katmakes  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much! I have answers! When I work with pre-strung beads, I pull one of the threads out of the knot (this works really well on some hanks and terribly on others - you might end up with a couple loose ones to re-string) - then tie it on to my working thread (the spool) and slide the beads over the knot. I'm going to cover this in my upcoming Q&A video, so keep an eye out if you need a visual!
      I am also working on a video showing some options for how to sew a piece of embroidery into a garment! There are loads of different ways to do this, and the 'right' way is the way that works for your project but I do have some tips - thank you very much for the request! 🥰

    Thanks so much for this video! It's very inspiring and I'm planning to make something for the holidays. Maybe a border on a cardigan, a patch or possibly collars on a blouse. Big plans that I hope I can complete in just a few weeks. If not, for next year!

    Thank you so much for these videos. They are so informative! Great to start getting into it. I bought a plan flapper dress without any beads or sequins. I want to add those to the dress. The dress is made of satin. Can I do the beads and sequins embroidery on it directly?

    I’m absolutely loving this series. Started practicing my stitch and it’s coming along and I have a question:
    How do you put together the pieces of the garment once you are done with the beading? I’m assuming you machine sew them but could you give some pointers re: feet to use to avoid damaging the beadwork, and stitch length? Thanks again for putting this together, it’s super inspiring 😊

    • @katmakes

      Thank you so much! This is a great question! I'm planning a video on different ways to attach/apply beadwork once it's finished, and I will make sure this question is covered! Thanks for asking :)

    Your lines of random beads made me think of Morse Code bracelets. I think you just assign certain beads to write out a message in Morse Code. Or a Braille project might be fun. I think each letter uses 6 beads or blank spaces like dominos. That would certainly add another dimension, not just visual, but touch.
