Reminds me of my six years of Latin. We were taught from a book and spent all of our time translating into English. The result? I could read Latin, but I couldn't speak it; I'd have to sit down with a pen and paper to write out everything and determine what was nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, ablative, etc. And then there were the declensions and cases and tenses. Ugh. The best way to learn a language is by speaking it.
if you're an adult the best way is to learn a language is to study a little the rules and to practice a lot your speaking. if you don't study the grammar you will forever speak a broken language. Latin is a case apart, we study texts that span almost a millennium all at once and that's a nightmare. it's like reading Shakespeare and rap lyrics at the same time.
я моглы понимать, а не все, и был сложно (ты гаварил бистрее что обично). уже видеть грамматик по ассимилои методу мне помогла- сначала все понимал, потом...минше. и что ты правда скажеш, понимаю : луше слyшать ешё и ешё, так фраси будут обично, пониатни, что стапаются учит наизусти. ouch, was hard, and full of faults, as i deliberately didn't check grammar, spelling and even translation on automatic translater ! yikes ! still can express that just on my own - better than nothing, and writing is the most difficult, as when speaking you can hide end of words by speaking quickly or soft and of course russian red or listened is by definiotion правилно. Ouch, feel a bit like a cat laying a killed mouse at the feet of his mistress and expecting a compliment (go away, Garfield) but well ..... whose cat is afraid of a белка anyway, ;-p back to listening (and even that specialized video trained to listen) спассибо мария
Which suburb do you live in Seattle? I plan on moving to Washington and want to live close to Seattle, preferably an hour away. Is it expensive in your suburb?
don't get me wrong, I absolutely love your videos in Russian but there is no way in the world a beginner can understand what you're saying; if he could he wouldn't be a beginner and the lesson would be pointless. to say that one doesn't need to study grammar is simply linguistic populism, you tell people what they want to hear but it won't work. a child learns without grammar, an adult cannot, his learning process is different from a child's. but that's my opinion and I respect yours. ciao
I have my own opinion on this. If you are just a beginner - DO NOT LEARN THE GRAMMAR first. It's pointless, boring and never helps to start speaking Russian.

Со временем, русская грамматика очень простая... но в начале кажется сложной. Всего доброго! Я рад к тому, что я учил русскую грамматику))
Главное не начинать учить русский язык с грамматики:)
Nice
