Forrest Jones Imho the best in class is Porsche Macan, next BmW x3, Jaguar Fpace, AR Stelvio, then possibly the Cx5 which is probably the best buy for the money.
First I've heard of the "active G vectoring", thanks for including this. Definitely impressive driving dynamics as usual from Mazda Wish the diesel was available in N. America :(
Thank you for the review. It's a tasty looking bit of kit and I may have considered it had I not ordered a Peugeot 3008. I wonder how it compares to a Seat Ateca, another SUV I had considered.
I've been renting a Mazda 3 and I like it a lot. But I'm an SUV guy. My only problem with the 3 is it feels like it's pushed back a lot by wind when going 50+mph in the expressway, still great on gas according to its own readings. Does anyone have this "feeling" too? Also doesn't look very aerodynamic.
Is CO2 emissions a thing over seas? Americans don't worry about that. Its not a concern when buying a car. Is there a tax levied against drivers that buy cars with high CO2 emissions?
Lukas for US 2.2 diesel spec is 175 hp and 310 lb ft torque. Non US version have 2 different specs for hp. Hp for US is due to redesign for CARB compliance. I believe it will be 2018 model released by March.
@@lionkill666 If you're that afraid of something breaking down, you should just ride a bicycle. There's far more expensive components that can break down besides a turbo.
Styling? Get a sports car... Practicality is what sells in this segment. That's the whole point of a CUV and there's a reason why the CRV has been king for 2 decades. This new CX5 is subjectively prettier and might feel faster, but objectively the new CRV is roomier, more powerful, and get's better fuel economy. It's also much faster to 60, brakes shorter, and even corners better - according to Motortrend's testing top trim US spec CRV vs CX5.
You have such an outdated way of thinking. In this segment of CUVs, all of them are practical. Some more than others, obviously, but none are impractical. Mazda distinguishes itself by focusing on driving dynamics and styling to attract buyers, which is definitely working, especially on the younger, new car owner demographic. Personally, I want an attractive car (I have to look at the thing everyday, right?) that is practical enough to carry 4 and our belongings, but also gives me confidence behind the wheel and this crossover hits both out of the park.
I really like the entire Mazda lineup, there's not a single ugly duckling in it.
+Zerofightervi Yeah. New design language has worked really well.
Well... I'm not crazy about the Mazda 5
The interior looks almost Germanic - very nice.
Great review man. It seems the CX-5 is becoming more popular in Europe
Thank you. Very much so. Over 25% of European sales for Mazda.
Great review for such a beautiful car and value for money
Great car. I have the 2017/18 vehicle and its a show stopper par excellence!

Nice review
North America do not have internal Blue :( I want internal Blue on my future cx5
Canada has it
Review is alright, but nothing said about the options the CX5 has or the variations in models available.
Good review
Does the CX-5 has the Panorama option available?
A manual transmission. I wonder if Mazda will offer that here in the USA. Doubt it. I'm hoping for the 2.2 diesel really soon!
divisioneight i saw a 6 speed manual at the dealership where I bought my cx 5.

I heard 148bhp from the 2.2ltr diesel. What's the torque?
It's actually 175 hp with 310 lb ft of torque at about 2000 rpm
mark williams
but there's 2 outputs 148bhp and 175bhp. thanks for the torque figure on the 175bhp

Why all the water scenes in the video looks like piss?
Mazda's infotainment really sucks. Why not embed it on the dashboard
2017........
too simple for a review man ,do little more detail and spec and through the car
...what about the Sheep model.......LoL..........
