  • In this episode, I put the Honda CB500x to the test with the Rally Raid level 1 kit installed.
The video is a bit longer than usual but I wanted to give you a flavor of what the bike is capable of, and give you a bit more ride time on the trails rather than cutting most of it out.
I start the day in Kettleshulme (Peak district UK) and ride a loop finishing up near Winnats Pass.

Thanks for the great vid Mate. I recently just bought a 2nd hand 2020 CB500X here in Australia. Previous owner had it kited out with the full Rally Raid Lvl 1 system. It absolutely smooths out the tracks and the road! I haven't done a lot of, off roading yet, but the bit I have done, the bike handles wonderfully. The bike did come with Tubeless "Mitas E-07+ ENDURO TRAIL" Front and rear tires, which definitely help with grip in the rough and the slippery stuff.

At last, someone who isn't afraid to take their Honda CB500X off road, great vid, thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks.

Excellent review! My X is the most recent generation but I think it could benefit from a lot of the Rally Raid products. I wish they were closer to me, I’d love to visit the shop. Ride safe!

Opens up a hole new world for you to explore . I’d prob add spoke wheels and some side bar protection and yes fit more appropriate tyres you also might want to think about tubeless , you’ll soon pick up off-roading techniques loads of useful forums if needed , I’ve the bmw don’t mind taking it on light off-road but Im doing a 690 rally build so I can do more aggressive riding and plan the tet next yr all going well , ride safe thanks for sharing 👍

Thanks for this review. I'm looking to get an upgrade for my Honda as well. Thinking between the level 1 and 2. Are you saying that the ground clearance on your level one upgrade is the same and remained at (165mm)? Not sure if you have upgraded a 2019 or previous model. How are you getting on with it now? Do you find the ground clearance still ok?

I'm thinking rally raid will lose a bit of business now the 2019 model has the 19" front and uprated suspension. I'm about to buy a 500x not sure if to go with a 2019 or get the rally raid..

Rally Raid do supply a kit for the 2019 model. It will offer further improvement but definitely consider the bash plate.
      I love my 2015 model.

@@andrewstewart106 I think a 2015 model would be better for me. But Id need the 19inch front. I think that would feel completely different on the track. I got married in Chapel BTW. Nice area.

Hello i want to remove the origin snorkel and i would like to set up an another snorkel on my 500 cbx, more higher to avoid water inside when i will cross a river.
Do you have an idea for this modification ? Thanks a lot for your reply.
    Thanks you

could I do the type of offroad showed at the beggining of the video without the modifications?

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 5 років тому +1

Yes you could. I actually quite like the stock setup, but it is very soft and does have limitations. If you're just wanting to ride stock absolutely you could ride roads with broken up surfaces or on cobbles, just take a bit more time and avoid larger dips or steps. I did consider riding stock and just adding the bash plate. The plate is definitely worth the investment as it inspires more confidence in the safety of the underside of the bike.

Hi Mare what Tyres are you using in this video?

    • @andrewstewart106

Pirelli Scorpion trail 2, the stock tires. Tried again later with Continental TKC 80 tires and performance on the track was much improved.
