David Russell really is a fantastic pedagogue. Not only is he good at conveying the information and getting one inspired to play and practice, he is so giving of his time and that is a huge part of what true masters call 'giving back' to keep the art flowing through to a new generation or even to older students. I have a lot of time for David Russell and his whole attitude with regard to the guitar. He's probably a really top bloke as well.
By the way you are one of my favorite guitarists. Your skills and knowledge are great but it’s your touch that I admire the most. It’s very soulful and really soothes the soul.
Thank you so much for sharing this great masterclass about the tones and the techniques to produce them. This is what every classical guitar players should incorporate into their daily warmups, as well as the accuracy. Thanks again greatly 👍🏽
Could I suggest to do also a lesson on the harmonics in guitar which are sometimes difficult to read on a music score ? They are so many ways to write them, it's a real mess in the publishing, sometimes without any fingerings.
I love this! Thank you so much! David you’re the best! Liked And subscribed. We always look forward to your return to the Bay Area! Oakloha from Oakland! Be safe and well. Your biggest fan Nick!
Just to correct Mr Russell, according to Alexandre Lagoya, Ida Presti didn't play cross-string trills using the tremolo pattern; her method remains something of a mystery. This somewhat counter-intuitive pattern appears to have originated in France and was used extensively by the Ito Dorigny Duo on a fine recording of transcriptions of the music of J-P Rameau. The distinguished composer and guitarist Nicholas Hooper, who had studied with Lagoya in France, taught this pattern to David Russell, who then developed it to suit his own technique as he explains. Credit where credit is due.
In France what they teach now in conservatories to make this cross string trills are patterns similar to what Mr Russel is showing using all the fingers but not in the tremolo order
Muy bueno! Me encantó, aca les comparto una composicion propia ua-cam.com/video/MMu6UmKYlaE/v-deo.html espero la disfruten, saludos desde la Patagonia!
As it hasn't been a novelty for some time, it can't be called a gimmick. If it draws excessive attention to itself, that's the fault of the player, not of the device.
I would give anything to sit for an hour with David Russell and ask him questions. Not just an amazing player but an incredible teacher.

I agree!
The people agree with you , unless they are Justin Beiber and ed Sheeran fans ,
"To break the rules, you should know the rules". Genius and a pleasant guy with a sence of humour.
David Is the man, I love his humble and sensible approach.

Tired of the cross string ornamentation gimmick.
