That same crowd would've killed the soldier, the mother, and the child, just to get to the fucking helicopter and escape. So yeah, he was pretty much defending himself, the little kid and his fellows that managed to take off because he did that.

@@xanderm7231 Very true. But why was he even there in the first place? They obviously wouldn't let somebody in his condition through. My head canon is that he's just looking for somebody in the crowd to say a final farewell or something like that. No way he could be thinking of actually being allowed past the checkpoint.

@@Estelle2007I believe it was more of an selfish act, he knew he was infected but he wanted to escape due the fact people who had his infection were being killed and blend into the crowd of people which is why he had his hood up and his head down. He wasn’t actively even looking around to find someone.

Yes and no, the crowd had already been offically declared dead, no one was going to be allowed passed the wall. The incompetent part was going out at all, should have stayed at or behind the line and ignored the inflected unless he tried to get beyond the wire.

The military at the fence perimeter blockade would have still left the civilians and retreat back behind the permanent wall. The blockade was pretty much to stall the civilians.
Did they get actual British soldiers for this? The kit, equipment, uniforms even the weapons is very period accurate for when this movie came out.
A lot of this kit is cheap military surplus

Now imagine if they were zombies.
Even if they were not infected or zombies, the healthy crowd were already infected by animalistic, wild and dangerous emotions and lost their mentality of being civilized and normal humans; rage, desperation, fear and savage bloodlust. They will attack and tear apart anything that gets in their way to flee from the infection.

I remember seeing this movie a long time ago on a Tv in a shopping mall,this must have been about 6/5 years ago.I won't lie i was very surprised to see UA-cam recommending this movie to me,especially because this clip has the scene that stayed in my memory for a long time,i remember being terrified watching that poor guy having his fingers ripped off by the gate.
Always thought this was the spiritual successor or sequel to 28 weeks later…
