I got recommended that butterfree video and I got hooked. I been binging every video since then. Cool to see I'm caught up now. I love this series, it's hard to describe why. But I just love fire red, and this is awesome. I think all the stats, the numbers and 2nd runs, and the tier list at the end really add to this flavor. Plus the vs vids adding 1 egg move is a nice touch. Also going quickly through all your videos over a week it was nice to see how your ui evolved and hear about the growth in subs. I am personally looking forward to the one true lord, Wailord! Maybe you could do a vs video with the starters of one type? Like a charizard v typhlosion v blaziken and so on. But I have definitely learned sub strats = best strats! I'm excited to see what comes!
That's awesome! I'm glad to hear you've been enjoying the content :) I began running in the same "solo" format that I'd seen 1000 times before, but then fell in love with allowing evolutions and pursuing the R2 finish. It felt much more like how I'd always wanted to play the game as a kid - with any starter. As far as overlay progression goes I've just had another upgrade! With the new computer the footage is now much nicer, and I can start working on other elements of the overlay like live updating stats! Wailord has been added to the list! Also, look for the starters in December. I have lofty goals for them, but I'm hoping I can push out all of the videos that I want to. It's amazing that you commented "sub strats best strats" on the ONE video where they didn't help at all :) It's the eggsception that proves the rule! Right?
I love how Gardevoir feels so much more intuitive due to better bulk and access to T-Bolt and much earlier CM, but medium slowly growing Zam just zooms past it once you figured out how much HP Water helps. If only Abra started with HP like an Unown, it would wreck. I'm excited to see how this goes with egg moves, probably Ice Punch?
Yes, I actually plan on running Alakazam VS Gardevoir so I'm glad that you mentioned it! Also, yes, in my VS videos I allow myself 1 egg move and it will absolutely be Ice Punch. The entire game until R2 would be a joke for Zam, and Gardevoir wouldn't have too much trouble keeping up I feel. It'll be a good one :)
For the graphic at the end to compare runs, I think you can use an additional line graph to quickly compare different runs. Y axis marks progress and X time. This would make it extremely easy to show how much improvement second run have and where, as the faster one will rise faster on the graph. Also it would allowing any amount of pokemon to compare with each other as long as you can think of distinct color to mark them. It shouldn't replace the current one of course, because it wouldn't be able to give the full picture, just a nice visual tool.
Hmmm I do like that as an idea. I saw that Scott's Thought has recently been releasing that style of graph with his videos. The unfortunate part is that he has software that generates them, I have... a spreadsheet of quick reference pixel values and a move tool :P There are a lot of aspects that are still manual about my content. Now that I feel I've nailed down things visually the way I want them it's time to make my life easier with automation/additional resources. I'm keeping this idea, but it'll likely be something for down the line. Thank you for the suggestion as always!!
I'm looking forward to continuing with the trade evolution Pokémon. Thank you!! I'm so pumped to start working on expanding my content with the new hardware!
Your scripts are getting better with more variety in vocabulary and in what you’re saying in the battles and the flow is getting smoother. Just thought I’d say that cause I watch a ton of vids and I’ve noticed this with you as videos go on.
@@Eggsceptional yeah so was I 😅😂😂😂😂 I mentioned that earlier in a video lol. I was like love the content man but if I hear OHKO one more time lol. Lots of words like obliterate, decimate, slap, mollywhop, drowned, barbaqued lol. Whatever the Pokémon doing even a kick makes things fun 👍🏾💪🏾
@@mattprice302 Agreed! It's funny, in the earliest videos I had a better vocabulary, then discovered OHKO, overused it for like 10 videos, and now have figured out real words again. It's all a learning experience!
@@jdsnerdverse That's fair - at least it's typeless in Gen 3 with less recoil. Doing Abra was actually mildly encouraging to do a Magikarp run in the future. That wasn't THAT bad...?
@@Eggsceptional a good video to watch for some research is jrose 11s gen 3 magikarp run. Very enlightening. Less recoil from typeless struggle, but it's like a way lowered spawn rate for the metapods and kakunas. Very insightful
@@jdsnerdverse Ooph it's been a minute since I watched that video. I had to look it up and yeah! Wow! A 15% combined chance compared to a 40% chance. No wonder I struggled to find them. Heh.. struggled.
Great vid! I always love it when the Pokemon used is one of my favorites, Alakazam holds a special place in my heart since me and my brother both found out it and Haunter evolved through trade and so he traded me Kadabra and I traded him Haunter and they became two of our favorites not only because of their stats but also because they represented the brotherly bond between us despite our intense rivalry in this series. Also starting to see that Special Attacking Pokémon seem to have less options compared to more Physically inclined Pokémon in Gen 3 Kanto if their natural movepool is shallow like Alakazam's and they don't have many TM/HM options, like why can't it learn Water Pulse it seems like it make sense for a psychic type to either grab nearby water or take the moisture from the air to form an orb or ring of water to use the move
That's such an incredibly story thank you for sharing that. Alakazam/Gengar were always so mysterious to me as a kid because nobody had a link cable. Right? The Gen 3 learnsets can feel so limiting sometimes. I was feeling pretty desperate for those elemental punches for Spoons. At least in Gen 4 a lot of that problem is mitigated. Now with my hardware upgrade I'm so eggscited to start running another game :)
Congrats on the new computer and really looking forward to seeing the content you'll be able to produce with it. Glad you enjoyed my story we also had two friends, S and C, who were brothers who had a similar story with Machoke and Graveler so between the four of us we were some of the only players in our town who had all the trade evos in our Pokédexes. I love fridays and saturdays as we would hang at my grandma's and trade and battle together with S being the best out of all us since he was the oldest and had a lot of the best Pokémon of gen 1 I remember my brother always complained about battling S but he mostly relied on Charizard and Gengar so once they went down he didn't have much left. My original team wasn't bad, Venusaur, Gyarados, Nidoking, Electabuzz, Alakazam, and Tauros, but I didn't know about missingno and cloning TMs so they didn't have the most optimal movesets@@Eggsceptional
I can see Ice Punch helping with Brock early game and with Lance since you wouldn't have to set up as many Calm Minds, Fire Punch could help with Steelix Bruno has but that's way too situational to justify using it, the extra power of Thunder Punch over Shock Wave or Ice Punch could mean you could take TTar with less Calm Minds without HP Water but idk if it would be better/faster than grinding pick up for the HP TM. Really Ice Punch would be the best for saving time against Brock and making Lance easier but otherwise Psychic, an Electric move, HP Water, and Thief are the best as far as Gen 3 goes for Alakazam@@Eggsceptional
@@lumineinfinitussilverkagat8094 That's so cool that the 4 of you each gravitated to your own of the 4. It lined up perfectly! That's so cool. I can't remember my original team - but I didn't have the awesome times at Grandma's every weekend :) I would agree that Ice Punch solves a lot more than Fire Punch. It's really a question of that T-tar and if the addition of Ice Punch could handle him, or if you'd still have to pursue HP Water/more levels. It'll be an interesting question to answer in the future! With the hardware upgrade too I can explore these Pokémon with newer mechanics. I have so much I want to explore!
I only remember my original team cuz I found my old copy of Blue a few years ago and my save was still intact haha. Each us had our own styles when it came to our battling, I figured out the type match ups pretty quickly and tried to have as much type coverage as possible, my brother was only 7 at the time but he did have a lot of fast special attackers, C only used physical attackers and actually had a lot of normal types if I'm remembering right, S like I said used a lot of the best Pokemon in gen 1, I definitely remember he was the only one who caught Chansey, his Rhydon was a pain for his brother, and he wasn't shy about using the legendary birds (he did show mercy and didn't use all 3 at once) as for Gen 4 and 5 runs I wanted ask if you plan on using post game move tutors in the battle areas for the Round 2 leagues matches and if so do you plan on grinding for the BP or just adding the BP yourself?@@Eggsceptional
32:00 Is there an ability that acts like Roar or Whirlwind? If ao the catching tutorial pokemon would ve be ehected from battle and probably crash to the game I dunno.
Thank you! I love the idea. It will likely be 2 separate videos - a 3 way VS for the birds, and dogs, with a comparison of all 6 at the end of the 2nd video. I love these little mini series :) Please be patient with me though - I have like 2 years worth of requested videos already :P
Thank you! And thank you for coming to the premiere! It's.. been... glorious... I'm hoping to transition in the new footage like the old wipes when the world upgraded from DVD to Blu-ray. "Now in stunning high definition!"
I feel zam is sufficiently fast that carbos wasn't a useful vitamin. I mean aerodactyl (130) and Gengar (110) are the only mons competive with zam (120) you have max ivs and any random evs is probably enough to get passed them. Also think about the fact that 2x60=120 while 1.5x90=135. Shockwave (even when super effective) isnt necessarily better than psychic. I think ice punch would be the egg move I choose if redoing this. Super effective against Brock would be one benefit. Lance and Exeggutor too.
It's true I fall into patterns - vitamins is one of them. I always go for speed in solo runs even when I don't always need it. No, Shockwave was generally the option with less damage, but I was trying to conserve those precious Psychic power points. Alakazam will absolutely be featured in a VS run in the future and my egg move choice hands down is Ice Punch. One video at a time though ;) Thanks!
I feel like a STAB Psychic from Alakazam causes the enemy’s head to explode. It’s like Oprah: YOU get OHKO’d, YOU get OHKO’d. I just recently used a Kadabra in a Crystal Playthrough, and about 2/3 through the game, I got so tired of leveling my team that I dropped them and soloed the rest of the game with Kadabra
It's absurd how powerful STAB Psychic is. Even on the 2nd stage Kadabra! I remember doing something similar in a Yellow playthrough way back when. Got to Celadon, bought the Abra, never touched another Pokémon again 😅 Thanks!
I will edit after the video to see if I am right, but i predict he will make at least 30 spoon jokes and some other funny references. That said I am look forward to the video. Edit: Well I was wrong about the spoon jokes but he more than made up for that with his cereal jokes, lol Good video btw.
~7:00 -- RE: impossible evolutions. In gen 1, with disassembly, changing the level is easy. There's a constant attached to each pokemon on what causes them to evolve and a contextual value, in case of level evolutions it's the level number. For Gen 3 I haven't looked that deep into the disassembly, last I looked into it was to turn off EXP for an exp-free mod. I suspect it's probably layed out the same or very similarly. That said, there's no reason to mess with the evolve level that the randomizer gives you (I think it's in the mid-late thirties which should be about when you want to be evolving anyways)
Interesting! I haven't done any playing in Gen 1, but in Gen 3 I've poked a little in the disassembly. It's mostly above my head still, but I agree. Just sticking with what the UPR outputs evolving at level 37 seems fine.
Eggcellent sir Eggcellent. you run the Abra line beautifully. I am not surprised by the end result, although that 1st run was a lot rougher than I thought it was going to be, especially that R2, had forgotten about the lack of answers for steel and dark types, most psychic types suffer that way but thats why dark and steel was added I guess. oh my wow with the HP water as the answer for every problem you was having with R2, good thing the idea was fresh from the butterfree run. genius stroke almost. the moveset options for both runs, did not surprise me aside from HP water, Alakakam is shockingly limited, nice call on having psychic and psybeam for a while for PP purposes, I do the same whenever possible and same with holding off on calm mind for the same reason, it didn't need it after all until the league. the potential VS would be most interesting to see as with egg moves it would sweep the game from the off, which punch would you go for if you only give yourself 1 though, I want to say fire, but I know you'll go ice, it will make Brock easy and quick. I haven't look at Gardevoir's egg moves, but I have a feeling they are poor. a fairer VS would be against Hypno, which also gets all the punches. Gen 4 was very kind to Alakazam, moves like special shadow ball and energy ball and even focus blast, but it loses the punches as they all became physical that is awesome news, you got your new computer and gear at last, Gen 4 will be right around the corner in no time, I look forward to how it works out for you. also some news my end. I have finished my sandstorm team run, went with Scizor as my 6th in the end, game in very handy with silver wind as an egg move. and I have started my fighting only run, Mankey is all I got for a while and am already at Misty, but already have a reset, an optional Spearow after Brock got a crit with peck so yeah. I will trade in my dragonite and a meowth with cut after Misty so I can go get my Machop earlier. I can tell you though Mankey runs nicely as a solo, but it is frail, bad defenses and slow to level, even with all optional battles, so a little grind might be needed, but it did beat Brock at level 10, so not too much early grinding at least
I couldn't believe how well it lined up that HP Water would have worked for Butterfree, and then I immediately find a need for it in the next run. Fate, I suppose! My next video gets even harder blocked by that R2 champion fight. I actually break my reset counter slightly. Oh no, Alakazam did not need any help at all until the league. It gave plenty of flexibility with PP in the midgame. I was surprised when I was looking at Alakazam - it makes me really wish those elemental punches could have been in FR. Very true. And now with the hardware upgrade I can start looking into those Gen 4 runs. I want to nail down my capture environment in SS, then branch into Platinum. Which is the longer game? I assume SS with the post game Red battle. Got a little distracted there... yes. Ice Punch all the way - you know me too well. Alakazam at least starts with Confusion so Brock is almost free anyway. Considering my problems in this run, HP Fire solves most of them. But I do love me my Ice type moves.... Mankey will be a fun run for sure. I feel like it has the potential to grind quickly at least - I'm just worried about that darn Weedle again. Which generation were you running the Sandstorm team in again was it FR? I'd actually forgotten that Scizor didn't get hit by Sandstorm until I was against the Tyranitar in my first playthrough with it. So cool! Those Spearows can be nasty. I've been taking out by 2x 5 turn fury attacks in a row. Peck is even nastier.
@@Eggsceptional HP water does seem to be the answer for a lot, but considering Butterfree and Alakazam both are mostly users of psychic and have limited movepools, it kinda makes sense they both get stuck in the same places so HP water just makes sense, I think I will test HP water on Butterfree 1st after the fighting run. I knew the R2 champion would be hard because of Tyranitar, but I did not anticipate Arcainine, extreme speed is a nasty move when you're trying to fight it. the Steelixs as well, I assumed you'd set up and smack them with psychic, but again forgot how much strong they are than onix, the stat jump in attack is shocking. you broke your reset counter on the next run and its the R2 champion, is it Parasect or did you dare try Shedinja? once Abra evolved and gets started both Kadabra and Alakazam are rock solid for solo runs, they both just have too much power not to it, its the same with Haunter and Gengar, except Gastly is less painful in the early game. I think Fire Red would become too easy a run for many Pokemon if the punches were available, even if they were locked behind the post game like Swords Dance. Alakazam would just beast its way through, most would, I think even an unevolved Abra with the 3 punches could if you run it right. Soul Silver is the longer game because the post game is essentially fire red again just with no plot or league and Red of course, but Platinum will feel longer because of the plot, the team galactic story line will eat up a lot of time. also for platinum, there is a R2 league to take on. its going to take a while for you to get set up and then work out Gen 4, at this rate you'll break into Gen 4 before Scott and Squidgy does, you're winning that race for sure. Gen 4 will be interesting to see, your runs I think will start slow and we'll all get a laugh out of the learning process but its going to be good. ye it was Fire Red. Scizor was a late decision, I was originally going to catch and train a Tyranitar for the R2, but it would of been slow, Scyther into Scizor and up to 65 for the R2 was a lot easier and Scizor is a great tank against the R2 when the rest of the team are falling to water moves. Mankey did ok against weedle, its neutral scratch is enough for a 2 shot at its best, fury attack is a pain, but inaccurate at least, but that peck was too much, I don't think it needed the crit either. there is a trainer later with a load of pidgeys followed by another trainer with a spearow, I think I see a reset there as well. its going to be just mankey for a while, I will play legit and not go for the early machop, lets see how thats goes
@@jptheflipper3825 Oh a well placed Iron Tail or Earthquake has ruined my day on more than one occasion. Steelix is a biiiiig upgrade to Onix it's unreal. It's funny, my next run uses another Pokémon that relies a lot on Psychic but I'm going a totally different direction with my HP choice. I don't think anyone will expect this one.. if it works. Neither of those! The reset counter was not designed to go into 3 digits. That's so cool. Alright, now the real question: how do they compare in game length to FireRed with R2? There's one thing I'm not looking forward to and it's that giant Rocket plotline in the SS mid game. At least the remakes spice it up a little. Yeah the Lass I think she is with 2 level 9 Pidgeys? I rarely battle her I'd have to look it up but she's so dangerous with a bad first 2 turns. Mankey is frail so I would bet not needing the crit Peck is plausible. I've been caught out by it. I misspoke a bit in my Scizor video, calling it a glass cannon, but I was referring to Fire types. I was surprised by it's bulk otherwise so I can see why it made the team. Plus that typing is just so weird. Love it.
@@Eggsceptional agreed Steelix is an unreal upgrade, but to be fair Onix needed it it, other than its defense and a little speed, Onix had nothing, I've used one for a number of runs and it is not easy to use, but that attack and resistance upgrade when it becomes Steelix makes it epic, although still weak on the special side, I have never one shot a Steelix with a physical move, but special is now and always the way. so another psychic user, another psychic type perhaps or a bug maybe, I know a few bugs that make very good use of psychic, most of them are favorites. I wonder........ I am going through all the ones I know in my head and most are kinda awesome with psychic. may I ask what you've gone with for the HP or will that make guessing too easy for me easy, they are longer, both games will be a lot longer, SS has 16 gyms, a long rocket plot, the league and Red, 2 hours per run might be a good bench mark and anything less than that S tier. Platinum, is similar to Fire red, but you'll have a longer team galactic plot to deal with and in places longer between gyms and the league, might work out the same as SS, maybe a little less, I think you need to set a pure bench marks with Pokemon you have run before in fire red to see how they compare, keeping in mind the new Gen 4 mechanics, and typings you'll be facing in the gyms and league of course. there will be a lot to learn with both and it will take a while before you have an objective comparison and its been a while since I run either to give you a good answer, my runs start after I have done my Gen 3 runs. the pidgeys are mostly bad because of the STAB gust same as spearow with peck, but they also have sand attack, which will make them far more dangerous, especially if you are relying on rock tomb for the KO. Mankey and Primape both get rock tomb and later dig so it has its coverage at least, but it is so frail, I got lucky with Brock as it didn't land a single rock tomb, but luck like that doesn't last. I figured that you misspoke it ok. Scizor was a good addition, only wish I could of had it for the previous team along with Steelix, Magnaton and Skarmory, proper steel type and a well EV trained one at that, how about that for a team run in the future, steel type only, just add in a steel starter for yourself and hope every fire move misses
@@jptheflipper3825 It's true. It feels that Onix really doesn't have anything going for it. Plus the name "Steelix" just sounds cooler. I think I've only one shot Steelix physically with set up. I'm going to leave this HP type a mystery. It's going to be a strange one - assuming it works the way I want. I'm finally getting back to that second run today. The new computer ordeal put me back a couple of days - so worth it though. I think that that's why I'm so willing to take a really slow and considered approach to Gen 4. There's going to be so much for me to learn - plus there's been someone commenting for a Palkia video on every video for months. Gotta run that one as the first real solo run :) It'll be good to see how a legendary does too so I can better estimate my timeframes. That's fair. Those lucky fights always feel so good, unless they're in the first playthrough and suddenly you're caught with your pants down. I think that we can agree those Route 3 Flying types in general are quite scary. I feel like there are a lot of runs like that where you're just hoping to avoid the Fire damage. I have played a lot of Bugs lately mind. Skarmory is another I'm looking forward to. I've always loved its sprite.
I'm always worried about Focus Punch, but I suppose using it with a decoy up would be the ideal way of using it. I'll have to consider it more in the future thank you :) That physical Shadow Ball was nasty!
Good luck building your PC, and if it’s already built, congratulations! I’m sure it’ll help you out a lot with video creation and you’ll be able to do a lot of other gaming with that build too
Were you able to modify Lt. Surge's gym to be open or did you leave and reenter the gym for the clean edit? I know you've said previously you're not running Gamehook, but I might've not been paying attention recently. Only been here a little over a week, trying to eat up the backlog currently. Enjoying the runs and format. Since Scott mentioned Natu's lack of Flying moves I've been interested in Egg moves on these solo runs, so the versus videos are a great answer to the question I'm sure many in the community have had on the mind. Keep it up. Much love.
The clean edit was captured in a separate run specifically for the gym leader intros. I do not have any elements of GameHook implemented yet, though I plan to start working on that after nailing down some other elements in my production first. I appreciate the support :) Now that I have the hardware to support it I have big plans - only now need the time to work on them outside of the weekly videos. I do love a challenge :)
7:23 most likely thats hardcoded into the universeal Pokémon randomizer, youll have to get the source code for the UPE and edit it yourself and compile 31:57 most likely this is due to the game having you have one of the REAL starters rather than one hacked in and therefore the old man pokemon cant use your ability
Interesting, I'll have to keep that in mind. I have a lot to learn on the code side of things. I have some production elements to tighten up first, then that's the next big target. It's such a weird little quirk! I love little things like that.
The abra line is really exceptional once it gets a special move , that's why up until the round 2 league,it never had struggles (except for Brock). I guess that Alakazam's weakness is it's movrpool against dark and steel types. Hp water was a great answer for that 😁. It could have been more problemtic if the champion had an Absol or an Umbreon instead of Tyranitar, then I'm not sure what move could benefit Alakazam the most 🤔. If you'd use it with egg moves I would suggest using encore or ice punch .😊 And by the way I hope that new pc will work well for you especially with rendering, because that get really tough for older pcs.😊
I'm not sure either what I would have gone with against Absol or Umbreon. That's kind of a scary thought to process - at least Tyranitar is the devil I know. Ice Punch all the way for an egg move. I'll be doing an Alakazam VS video in the future. That run is going to be faaaaaast. Thank you! The other week I lost a whole day to windows update restarting and corrupting my render overnight. My last render only took 2 hours or so, and I haven't even gone full throttle yet 🙃

In a full randomizer run, with randomized BSTs, having a Sand Stream mon can lead to a KO of the catching tutorial mon, if it ends up at level 5 or lower, with a true minimum HP Value like Shedinja has, which I don't believe does anything other than waste several more seconds overall.
That's a super interesting interaction though. I mean sure, if all it does is waste a few seconds then that's the end of it, but it's still really cool!
@@Eggsceptional The fact that Nincada is only available as a trade in FR and I believe LG makes Shedinja a super unlikely mon to see under normal circumstances, so having it create the possibility of an unforeseen circumstance just by EXISTING is pretty awesome lol. The fact that GF planned for what should be an impossible occurrence, to prevent a soft lock, is also pretty awesome.
@@HollandTHG For all of the moments that I have where I question GF I can't deny that they made some pretty incredible games. As a kid? You'd likely never encounter the things we see these days with how many ways we've found to mess with this game. Ah... Love it :)

Congratulations on the upgrade love the video as well Gengar should be just a challenging in the future.
I'm looking forward to continuing with the trade evolution Pokémon. Thank you!! I'm so pumped to start working on expanding my content with the new hardware!
Noice. I'm gonna enjoy this playthrough
I hope you do!
Always love a good abra line run man! And congrats on the new computer! Can’t wait to hear about the specs.
I appreciate it! Abra was a fun one, and the early grind honestly was not bad at all. Thank you :) It's been worth the wait so far.
Your scripts are getting better with more variety in vocabulary and in what you’re saying in the battles and the flow is getting smoother. Just thought I’d say that cause I watch a ton of vids and I’ve noticed this with you as videos go on.
Thank you! Every video I put out I try to get a little bit better at something. I was getting really tired of saying "OHKO" :)

The Abra grind.... still not as bad as magikarp
I haven't worked up the courage for it yet... All credit to you for going through it.
@@Eggsceptional you will get there. Struggle in gen 3 is a lot better than gen 1
I can't remember my original team - but I didn't have the awesome times at Grandma's every weekend :)
I would agree that Ice Punch solves a lot more than Fire Punch.
Each us had our own styles when it came to our battling, I figured out the type match ups pretty quickly and tried to have as much type coverage as possible, my brother was only 7 at the time but he did have a lot of fast special attackers, C only used physical attackers and actually had a lot of normal types if I'm remembering right, S like I said used a lot of the best Pokemon in gen 1, I definitely remember he was the only one who caught Chansey, his Rhydon was a pain for his brother, and he wasn't shy about using the legendary birds (he did show mercy and didn't use all 3 at once)
as for Gen 4 and 5 runs I wanted ask if you plan on using post game move tutors in the battle areas for the Round 2 leagues matches and if so do you plan on grinding for the BP or just adding the BP yourself?@@Eggsceptional
32:00 Is there an ability that acts like Roar or Whirlwind? If ao the catching tutorial pokemon would ve be ehected from battle and probably crash to the game I dunno.
Hmm I'll have to look into that. I know the opposite exists, like Arena Trap. And I know that weather comes into the turorial.. herm.
"Up next is Bruno."
"Aaaaaand he's gone."
That about sums up Round 1 Bruno yep :)
I really enjoy your videos, and had an idea! Gen 1 Legendary birds Vs. Gen 2 Legendary dogs! Always excited to see new content.
Thank you! I love the idea. It will likely be 2 separate videos - a 3 way VS for the birds, and dogs, with a comparison of all 6 at the end of the 2nd video. I love these little mini series :) Please be patient with me though - I have like 2 years worth of requested videos already :P

Heya!

Great run as always!
And oof what an upgrade with the PC :O enjoy!!
Abra has a really good Speed and Special Attack, and even starts with a Stab move so I'm sure this will be simple!
I wish it started with a STAB move! All I had was struggle :)
@@Eggsceptional It gets STAB Teleport, what are you talking about

I just recently used a Kadabra in a Crystal Playthrough, and about 2/3 through the game, I got so tired of leveling my team that I dropped them and soloed the rest of the game with Kadabra
It's absurd how powerful STAB Psychic is. Even on the 2nd stage Kadabra! I remember doing something similar in a Yellow playthrough way back when. Got to Celadon, bought the Abra, never touched another Pokémon again 😅 Thanks!

Gen 4 was very kind to Alakazam, moves like special shadow ball and energy ball and even focus blast, but it loses the punches as they all became physical
that is awesome news, you got your new computer and gear at last, Gen 4 will be right around the corner in no time, I look forward to how it works out for you.
also some news my end.
I am going through all the ones I know in my head and most are kinda awesome with psychic. may I ask what you've gone with for the HP or will that make guessing too easy for me
easy, they are longer, both games will be a lot longer, SS has 16 gyms, a long rocket plot, the league and Red, 2 hours per run might be a good bench mark and anything less than that S tier.
If only Alakazam could survive that shadow ball from the rival Alakazam, I was thinking maybe Focus Punch behind the sub could work
I'm always worried about Focus Punch, but I suppose using it with a decoy up would be the ideal way of using it. I'll have to consider it more in the future thank you :) That physical Shadow Ball was nasty!

Since Scott mentioned Natu's lack of Flying moves I've been interested in Egg moves on these solo runs, so the versus videos are a great answer to the question I'm sure many in the community have had on the mind. Keep it up. Much love.

“I use the Bruno fight to theory craft” lol not sure how much you can theorize in 15 seconds.
Well, not extensively anyway. I meant more that my mind was in other battles while my thumb idly won the battle I was actually in :)
7:23 most likely thats hardcoded into the universeal Pokémon randomizer, youll have to get the source code for the UPE and edit it yourself and compile
31:57 most likely this is due to the game having you have one of the REAL starters rather than one hacked in and therefore the old man pokemon cant use your ability
If you'd use it with egg moves I would suggest using encore or ice punch .😊
And by the way I hope that new pc will work well for you especially with rendering, because that get really tough for older pcs.😊
I'm not sure either what I would have gone with against Absol or Umbreon. That's kind of a scary thought to process - at least Tyranitar is the devil I know.

ayy this line is one of my favorites abra os my least favorite because when i found a shiny abra it used teleport
Well if you're Teleporting about with an Abra you might as well do it with style right?
I'm not quite to the point of jumping in, but I am part of the group that was a part of his Parasect/Smeargle races, though I didn't have much time to play with it, and the software ran like a rubber band. Fast sloooooowww fast slooooow. He invited me to a community of creators, which also has the creator of GameHook present. Once I pursue adding those elements I know where to get support :)
Had to come here again to check the list with machamp in.. I cannot accept that Alakazam fell behind machamp 😫😫😫
It was that darn early game grind. These runs were also done before I was using egg moves in my solo runs. These results WILL change :)
@Eggsceptional oh this is very true. Forgot about Abra 🫣
5:04 tackle quick attack wombo combo LMAO
It can hurt so so so bad sometimes :P
Ceralkilr 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I spit out my green beans
I was hoping that would have been cereal xD
@@Eggsceptional you’re a Psychic type and you didn’t see that coming 😉
@@gmanz5 There are days when I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my shoulders. Some Psychic type :P
Update btw on my platinum idea im brickwalled at the Barry fight before wakes gym getting wrecked starvia and not having enough health to survive using turtwig line atm
I'm glad to hear you're pursuing it still! Admittedly, I'm less familiar with Platinum so I did have to look this up but oh my. That looks like a tough nut to crack with a Turtwig. Well.. Probably Grotle at that point? Torterra?
yeah torterra at the 5th gym entrance where barry jumps you@@Eggsceptional
@@TeamRedWolf11 Gotcha. I'll look forward to more updates :) You'd mentioned considering and egg move. Did you add one?
How about the scotts challenge with elemental punches abra egg-cept with fire red
I plan on using Alakazam in the future in my VS format, with an egg move. I could easily be coerced into multiple egg moves to round out the punches :)
Dome fossil best fossil don't let me down again 😊😂
Alright, alright. Enough with the Helix :)
Wow my fav mon but i know he will be low with abra learnset before 1st gym and fact that you need struggle until lvl 16 with teleport so every time you need find new wild mon
It was definitely an exercise in patience at the start of the run. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only exercise in patience in this run :)
starting as abra is not gonna be fun
I suppose that depends on your definition of fun.
......it was not :)
You might even call it a struggle
@@billybrame3990 Eggsactly!!
Is the struggle real at the beginning with Abra
I Struggled more than I've Struggled to this point :) at least the early game hardships I expected....
You made it through the early struggle so call that a win
@@Scooby2120 Not to sound too full of myself.. but I haven't found a run that I couldn't find a happy ending in yet :)
Praise helix
Had to show some Helix love :)
Bless Lord Helix ヾ( ˃ᴗ˂ )◞ • *✰
Lord Helix needed some representation. It had been too long.
17:10 Psychic was immune to Ghost in gen I... :(
D'oh! Was I getting lost in my childhood memories being cross wired again? I really need to look things up more :)
@@Eggsceptional I mean the game SAID ghost was strong against psychic, but they got the only move (lick) mixed up or something lol.
Fun trivia is that only eight Pokémon knew moves super effective against psychic types in gen I. Venomoth/gnat, paras/ect, beedrill, zubat, Golbat, and, the only one reasonably capable of taking advantage of it, Jolteon
@@dragonspight I guess it becomes intentions VS reality? Oh Gen 1. You quirky mess. Plus, I mean really. How many of us kept Pin Missile on our Jolteons as kids?
@@Eggsceptional Hey.... it was a cool move to 10 year old me.
@@dragonspight I could never take that away from your 10 year old you! Despite how misguided 10 year old me would know you were ;)
you Sabrina has a juicy tm
me (whos used to gen 1) uggh psywave sucks!
you: calm mind!
me: ohhhhhhh right.
Oh yeah.. what a difference. I don't think I've ever used Psywave except in a desperate situation where I have no other option. Calm Mind, however, is much more my speed!
and once and for all day 13 only palkia
We're getting closer by the week!!

Brand New sub here. Nice run is there a discord? Have fun with your computer
Welcome to the channel! I have not set up a Discord but I can look into that for sure. The new computer has been a dream so far. I can't believe it's real.
