On one of my many trips between Jefferson City and St. Louis, I decided to stop in the town of Eureka (I love that name, as you'll notice in the video) to check out a car wash I found while scouting on street view. It turned out to be an amazing find. The wash has two automatic bays, and each one has a very rare system. The touchless bay has an Oasis Typhoon, and the soft touch bay has an even rarer D&S Odyssey. This system is so obscure that I had never even heard of it. Thanks again to Car Wash Studios for identifying it.

EUREKA! These things are really rare! (You see what I did there ;) I have always wanted to see one of these in action! Also, the reason why the brushes started up and the system sprayed water was to shed any dirt or debris caught in them, which can cause scratches because its not programmed to do a dwelling foambath like an autec.
Very cool. Thanks again for the info. This was one of my favorite systems I've been through in a while. It had a lot of personality (really pushed the car around a lot).

You can tell it's a D&S system by the model of the traffic lights, large and stainless steel
I remember seeing D&S Odyssey at a Chevron station I used to get gas at once in a while, but it closed about 4 years ago, and the system removed. This D&S Odyssey replaced a Ryko Voyager 2 system in 2008 that replaced a Ryko R7B system more than a decade earlier. Those R7B and Voyager/Premier systems, and Autec soft touch systems, don't hardly see those around anymore. I also remember a car wash system with 4 brushes (2 top brushes, 1 for front half of the car, 1 for rear half, and 2 side slanted brushes) that I haven't seen in over 20 years.
I have yet to find a D&S IQ system in the Atlanta area, assuming there's one to be found. And have yet to find a Belanger Freestyler system. I know of at least 3 Ryko SoftGloss MAXX systems in or close to Midtown Atlanta.
The 2 brushes or mitter curtains ur talking about is probably a magic spray magic touch
We had one of these outside of Wichita, KS for a while at a local car wash (1) I went through it a couple of times late at night and it was weird watching the brushes kick on all of the sudden and i had not even put the money in yet. (2) Ours was not a rough and it did an excellent job !
This place has been abandoned. It's permanently closed. Based on street view, the D&S is still there, but the Oasis typhoon is ripped out. So sad to see it go.

The funny thing is that these D&S Odysseys are all over my area. I find them everywhere.
Great video. However D&S Odyssey and Autec have that same noise when it starts up and when it’s in use. Ima say it’s a buzzer. And I bet the wash has been waiting for someone because no one has wanted to come, but it finally makes a friend at 1:27 by saying hello.

I remember when I was a little kid and my uncle was doing initial testing on the new Odyssey. McPherson Kansas. My dad and I helped install the equipment. Giving that my uncle owns part of D&S, I have always had a deep interest in D&S. You wont find a better unit than what D&S has to offer. I will say; there is a reason you don't find many of these Odyssey units anymore.
I found one in lincoln city, OR at the chevron station. it was my first one that i saw and i was shocked. (It didn't look like it was used anymore.)
@@alexseiallridge7692 Wouldn't surprise me. They were in beta stage and had quite some reliability issues. Their new soft touch wash is amazing!
That’s actually quite ironic how these Odyssey systems are SUPER rare everywhere else, but in northern Utah (Salt Lake or West Jordan) these things are SUPER common. I actually avoid some washes because they use these systems.

This wash is now completely gone. The QuickTrip right near this expanded, and turned the former wash into an exit road from the station.
2:19 That’s not a compressor that’s the Hydraulic Drive which is known as the hydraulic power pack and that is used to operate the brushes. These brushes have hydraulic motors since I can see the hydraulic lines.
When the top brush came down and it was doing that the same car wash you have is by me to and it does the exact same thing so I think it's possibly normal

Think you do a revisit to this sight to see if either the typhoon or odyssey is still there and definitely great video and you can hear it sounds like Autec system would make

We have an Oasis Typhoon near Interstate 440.
UPDATE: I drove by the car wash I mentioned recently and the Typhoon may be serving its last days. A sign out front advertised a new soft touch car wash coming to that location.
I Wish we had quick trip in the north.
I took my Kia Soul through a D&S IQ and the thing scratched my back left fender and under the rear tail light. A few weeks after that, I took it to a Ryko SoftGloss Maxx without any scratching. I do think it is the brand of machine that determines how well the work.
The car wash buzzer is a Federal Signal fire alarm.
I heard a review of that kind of car wash. Someone said they never go to any car wash unless it has a Odyssey, That system is a good system. Hey speaking of Columbia are you still planning on filming at Green Meadows Car Wash.
I'd love to. Problem is that I'm never in Columbia anymore. When I moved to St. Louis, I pretty much stopped going there completely. I'll be sure to stop by the next time I'm in town, but unfortunately I don't know when (if ever) that will be.
As for the Odyssey, it did a great job. Very fun system overall.

I just watched a rollover soft touch car wash wet the brushes before the car entered. Every soft touch should do that.

Oh no, no damage. This wash was a little rougher than most, but the car came out fine.

It has been replaced by the d& s iq soft touch. The d&s s oddesy is really rare
He means that the iq soft touch replaced the odyssey not at the wash but it was removed from purchasabilaty and now d&s sells the iq touch and yes I'm 3 years late
