    Ken attended a reception with the pope, who was encouraging artists to defend the disenfranchised and promote equality. On the very same day Starmer was meeting the Murdochs.

      We have a psychopathic pandemic of projection. Time and again in interviews, I hear politicians using hatespeech which so clearly applies to themselves. It's also so often so specific, so that by hatefully calling somebody e.g. a "pedophile", I then think, oh, this guy has a pedophilia problem, who'd have thought. The first time I noticed it was George W Bush 2003 in his hatespeech against Saddam. It became so clear to me thet G.W. had a little Saddam Hussein inside him, whom he hated. Running away from his self-hate, he slaughtered thousands of Iraqi citizens (and by the bye convinced a very stupid Tony Blair).

      @vis7139 Рік тому +2

      @@casteretpollux I get that 100%. But I also worry about it... Because I've been involved in several start up groups. We've done direct action, made media splashes, but then the group dissipates. There needs to be something binding people together...
      XR is a good example. Totally decentralised groups, but with core messages and a few central people to advise and help out. I think that's the strategy we need....... And it kind of resembles a union structure when I phrase it like that.

    • @casteretpollux
      @casteretpollux Рік тому

      @@vis7139 What is XR ? I don't think one size fits all. Some people might get involved in local community development and campaigns. Others might organise socialist study groups to reassess where we are and where we/ society is going, ultimate goals and principles, economy international links etc. Find some basic agreements and have things evolve on the basis / umbrella of working class unity, equality, peace say, with a view to step by step forming a party.

    • @vis7139

      @@casteretpollux XR is Extinction Rebellion. They have a central hub where they hold meetings, let people know what they stand for. But all the action is done by local groups. They basically say, "These are XR principles. If you follow them, then you can do action in our name. If not, we reserve the right to distance ourselves."
      I agree with what you're saying, but I think the time for deliberation is over. We know what the problems are. We know how to fix them. What we need now is organisation.

    The very idea that Jamie Driscoll can be excluded from the selection process for Mayor, for simply talking to the wonderful Ken Loach, is both disgusting and ridiculous. Of course that's not the real reason, a whole swathe of members, candidates etc. are being excluded/suspended from Labour because they are not the "right fit" for Starmer's Labour, "right" being the operative word. Loach is spot on in his analysis, Starmer's Labour will offer 1 degree more than the tories. The current Labour party exists just to give the appearance of choice, without substantially changing anything. Organising is the key, but it will have to be done outside the Labour party.

I live in Scotland, which gives me the obvious alternative which I had previously eschewed. This is why I now have a grip of state financing as that was the weak link in the 2014 referendum. In 2017/19 Fact checkers showed that the Corbyn led LP had the best by far proposals for a Green Future.
      The Green Party had one MP who sadly, despite many other positive stances in line with the Corbyn led LP, signed a letter demanding that Bristol Uni. sacked the Lecturer David Miller.
      When challenged she wouldn't budge and no one from the rest of the party made any effort to get her to do so. If this isn't a sign that they are paid up members of the Apartheid Club what else do people need to realise that this is so?

    Guys do any of you have an understanding of modern monetary theory? It really is essential to everyone interested in taking back the power of the state. It will give you the confidence to demand social policies. The basics are that in modern fiat currencies Post gold standard (1971) taxes do not fund spending. It’s always spend and then tax. Deficits are healthy and necessary to enact social policy, to build the productive capacity to absorb spending. Neither deficits nor the national debt reflects any risk to anyone. The ND represents our cumulative savings and investments and the money supply, to rid ourselves of those is obviously undesirable. At the end of the day, money isn’t valuable, resources are. Money is simply a way to mobilise those. It is spent for the state, by the state and ultimately returns to the state. Its a tool to meet society’s needs and obviously it is under capture. MMT is an understanding you will need to arm yourselves, it represents empirically evidence truth supported by the long term data.

      @@archvaldor The Labour Party did massively better than Loach's candidates....So please, stop whining and form a new People's Party under Jeremy as other comments on here are suggesting. The rest of us can then get on with the real politics of getting rid of this appalling Tory government while your new Party disappears up its own irrelevant fundament...

    Judaism is a religion not a race. I don't understand how African Ethiopean Jews can be considered to be of the same race as white Polish Jews, it's a denial of reality. As someone born a Northern Irish Catholic with an English born Catholic father and a Northern Irish Presbyterian mother who all emigrated to Australia in 1970 (for obvious reasons) I find the whole Israeli Jewish line to be fucking offensive.

      Proportional representation should be campaigned for and achieved first. It's clear by the lack of success of other left parties in UK general elections over the decades that very little, if any, success can be achieved in the current framework.
