hi pogchamps this is my take on this also v long, goes through literally everything 0:00: Almaz's wing breaking through a crack. Possibly her trying to escape or get out of somewhere, and according to the blackness on screen, somewhere dark, perhaps. 0:02 Nature scenes, might be relating to a time where Almaz wasn't trapped, was free and was happy. 0:03 "Delete all feelings" tab. Her looking up at the sky with a drooping face, probably debating the answer of the tab/her thought. Maybe The Creator's tab, with the intention of clicking YES. 0:05 Brighttail and The Creator switching, the thought of Brighttail and The Creator being the same person or at the very least reminding Almaz of when The Creator tore off her wings representing her past world. 0:07 Fern trying to tell her something and her probably ignoring her, highlighting the relationship of the pair. 0:11 A butterfly flying and Almaz also attempting to fly, sitting smugly on a rock in her past world where she was free and happy again. 0:14 Her world falling apart due to The Creator's delibrate actions. 0:16 "Delete world" tab, belonging to The Creator destroying Almaz's world. Almaz's head disappearing leaving a butterfly might link back to previous take, with her in her world and her missing it. "World has been deleted" meaning her world, you guessed it, has been deleted from creation. 0:20 Carnival peering over glass bottles at the viewer, most likely though towards Almaz. 0:23 Almaz thinking about Brighttail and Fern with shoulder shrugs and emotionless expressions, might be deep in thought or unfazed by the pair. 0:26 Almaz **suffering** :))) Probably not physical pain, as you can see a wing come from her mouth, might be resembling her longing for her wings back. 0:29 A pair of cocktails are shown, could be for her and Carnival. Next scene where Almaz is holding a broken bottle with blood or wine sploshed on the floor, might be a murder scene since Almaz is once again unfazed, or a bottle smashing and leaking red wine/beverage on the floor. Everything to 0:35: Almaz possibly confessing her love for Carnival on a balcony of a palace, maybe. Iconic scene of Carnival's mangled new bodyparts, I'm not sure what is actually happening here but maybe The Creator interfering with reality and causing Carnival to be dismembered but alright? Or maybe Carnival can just do this without pain. Anyways, Almaz is very concerned and tries to hide it but is scarred. 0:38 Carnival running away from a statue, maybe the statue resembles something but I have no idea. We see this statue multiple times throughout the video so it must be important. I also noticed it has Almaz's wings, so it might be linked to her somehow. 0:40 Half an arrow piercing Almaz, with diamonds coming out her back. Highlights the pain of the crystals on her back, maybe, or possibly heartbreak with Carnival. 0:43 Almaz looking with an interested face at pills flying, her wanting them and them being drawn with wings, like angels, so she thinks of them as good and heavenly (?). 0:45 I think this statue is the same as the previous one but with some minor changes, mostly the wings and head where Almaz is sitting, it depends what the statue was based on but might be painting Almaz as the head of a situation, the cause, the problem. "It's all in your head" tab is hiding in the backround, could intake that she took the pills and felt more pain but tried to convince herself it wasn't there. 0:47 Her dropping a flower closley resembling a flower of Fern's, their friendship probably fading or dropping away as shown. 0:49 Carnival in a dress appearing behind her in a spotlight, assuming this is all in Almaz's mind as she paints Carnival in a pretty manner. 0:51 I have literally no clue what these things are, they look like scientific tubes with a nail through them? Almaz seems to be intrigued by them but I'll skip this one. 0:54 Same scene as before, won't go over it again. 0:55 A bottle breaking, leaving red liquid. Blood or wine? 0:56 Carnival holding a syringe with red liquid inside it, with a smile as love hearts come out. I'm thinking this is Almaz wanting to either get a better platonic relationship with Fern, or, I'm taking a big leap here, something romantic, perhaps? Not the best at gestures but that's my take. Everything to 1:04: Almaz trying on different outfits, maybe her trying out new styles, maybe trying to impress Carnival with fashion sense. Almaz leaping off a balcony, her past self flying freely, and her present self falling. Breaking apart at contact, might be referencing she believes the only good part about herself is her crystals, and that she has become the crystal. Scenes from 1:05: Her past self, happy, present self, shrouded and dark. 1:06 Fern entangling her, possibly trying to make her stop what she was doing and to make her feel safe. 1:07: The gang gang all wearing festival masks, them reminding Almaz of Carnival perhaps. 1:10 The gang gang looks like they're mugging someone, might be a stranger or Almaz positioning Fern as the victim, their relationship. Scenes from 1:15: Gang gang scenes, showing the bad friendship between Fern and Almaz. 1:16: Almaz in a realm of The Creator, note she has wings so this was right before her world was deleted, eg. the mountain backround falling over, Creator taking a picture to forever lock Almaz in a black abyss. She falls asleep/grows tired? 1:21 She wakes up in a wine glass of Carnival's, resembling Carnival's control of her and Al not actually noticing/minding. 1:23 Carnival injecting (?) her with the red liquid, creating more diamonds on Al or just creating more in general. it looks like they are high in demand as shown Al and Carnival showing them off. Everything to 1:29: They are high in demand, possible drugs, as people want more. Al nervously chuckles as they are hard to get (off her back, from places) but the people won't budge, demanding more. 1:31 An alarmed Almaz now in a syringe being held by Carnival with a grin, also symbolizing Carnival's control of her and her crystals. 1:33 Mugs, drinks, and a diamond bottle. A confused Almaz sitting on a step, her mind flickering between stages of diamonds, wings, diamonds. Another scene of her longing for her wings she lost. 1:37 Her mind thinks of the red liquid syringe as her face freezes with fear, encouraging the idea of Carnival doing something fearful with the syringe, most likely to Almaz. 1:40 Almaz looking around wildly with a scared face, weary of dangers that might link back to the side affects of the red syringe liquid and/or the drugs or probable depression. 1:41 A smug Carnival, one again, seemingly looking at Almaz. Everything to 1:48: Fern looking betrayed and/or shocked, possibly at what Almaz has become (a puppet, drug taker and beast?) and Carnival becoming the same scene at 0:26, might be reminding Almaz of herself and what she actually has become, or what she will become, or what Carnival might do. 1:52 Almaz very fazed by this, bleeding from one eye and looking very unsteady and wild. Not knowing what to do, she is left with her thoughts as her conscious spirals downwards. 1:53 Carnival or another entity mutilating Fern as she holds on to Car with her vines, causing distressing pain while Car smiles evily. (ok so youtube cut me off, these next few parts wont have timestamps as im writing this in after and i onky choose actually intereting bits and wont go over the meaning much) You can see Parade dusting off statues of Brighttail and Fern. Notice how Almaz isn't there, could be referencing how Parade might not take notice of her or doesn't think of her part of the bigger picture of life. Almaz slowly deteriorating as these events happen, causing her to lose sanity as you would. Fern's arm being ripped off by a, you guessed, mutilated Carnival. We don't know if this actully happened or was all figurative because is the next scene with the Fern and Al hug, fern is using the arm that wasn't ripped off, not showing if the dismembering had happened. Car approaches a bloody Al, offering a flower suspiciously similar to one of Fern's as a peace offering/love offering. then bang bang boom brighttail murder but idk this took me an hour please notice me
oh my this is really in depth,,,I'm impressed by the dedication! I will just reply with some small trivia haha. The statue seen at 0:38 is the iconic Eros statue. In greek mythology, Eros is the god of love and lust, to be struck by his arrow is to fall in love. The statue at 0:45 is the statue of Nike, greek goddess of victory. Her most iconic statue was found without the head or arms, but with large wings. At 0:51 those things are bongs. Bongs are used to smoke weed.

Almaz lacking her wings, and the statue being found with no arms or head but the wings (which are like the most iconic thing abt the statue).,, and also I just personally love the statue haha
I love everything about this- the world building, lore, the detail given to the characters, and I’m sure everyone loved this too. Expect me to invest all my attention in this.
Really interesting video. From what we can see: -Almaz seems to be in love with Carnival. -Carnival manipulates Almaz (because why wouldn't she?) and intoxicate her (or him? Is Almaz a girl??? I don't remember) with drugs and alcohol. -Almaz's crystal seems to be popular, as we can see by the different people taking them. I assume the crystals can be used to make drugs, since it seems to be a big part of Almaz's character. -Fern will get dismembered by Carnival (I wasn't expecting that btw). -Brighttail will bash Carnival's head with a baseball bat (wasn't expecting that too, considering how kind and compassionate Brighttail is. Then again, Brightgoat did say they would change as the story progresses). That's all I found, for now. I might add things if I find anything else. I love the story so far!
I think another thing is that Carnival may have shot Almaz with something to make the crystals grow, this could have been symbolic but i thought it was worth mentioning :P
I'm pretty sure she used drugs to make more crystals, to make more drugs and profit and such, since you can see near the end crystals are growing everywhere on her body. (2:13)
If you look at the description you can see the story is that Brighttail Fern and Almaz are apparently hunting down the creator, The creator destroyed their worlds and mutilating their bodies so they’re traveling across worlds. Almaz wings and world were taken. same with Fern’s eye. It seems like she’s lived in an area filled with crystals so her body produce them. Same with Fern with plants. That’s when she met Carnival and I think they may have had a business deal she fell in love with Carnival and her crystals became popular to make some drug. It was a toxic relationship. I think when Almaz realize this Fern comforted them. Carnival also seems to have powers which is the rather gross limb thing which they used to hurt Fern that’s when Brighttail hit them with a bat. There’s definitely a lot more I could talk about but I don’t want to make this too long.

Yeah this whole story can be pretty confusing if the first thing that had anything to do with it you watched was the high enough animation. Totally didn't do that myself... I actually have seen all the animations and there were alot of things I didn't get but then I looked around in all the deviant art stuff and found lots of comics and drawings. I read that document about the timeline and story in its development and then rewatched all the animations. I ended noticing alot of stuff I missed before.
I didn't notice this before but if the buttercup stands for fern then at 2:12 carnival is offering almaz fern's flower!!! and she just killed her! this is brilliant!!
YYYEESSS OMGGGGG my theory of what happened: Carnival is in a relationship with Almaz, but somehow the relationship goes south and Carnival begins hurting/abusing/manipulating Almaz, maybe drugging her to make those crystals grow and then harvesting them to sell (that’s super awesome and messed up if that’s the case) and Almaz develops serious trust issues because of it. Later, the trio infiltrates one of Carnival’s parties to attack her, and Fern gets messed up by Carnival, but Brighttail manages to kill her? Maybe? GODDD you need to make a comic or a web series or a book or SOMETHING cuz I am SOOOOOO IIINVESTED AAAAHHHHHHH Anyways, AMAZING HOLY CRAAAAP bruh. How are you so talented as an artist and editor, and also so creative and unique as a storyteller like whhaaaa
Actually I read a bit of the deviantart document, and Almaz originally had wings but some three eyed creature called the creator took her wings away and replaced them with crystals. (from what I remember)
@@goober_artz Actually I have theories about the end of the buttercup, one of them is what you say and the other is that Fern after "reaching peace with herself" manages to get along better with everyone and have a true friendship, even with Almaz with whom she seems who gets along worse (which is bad since they see each other constantly as they are partners in this crazy story). Another is that in that period of time Almaz would have finished with Carnival and now she is happier and more cheerful, which makes Fern happy.
hah i never add comments to things but here we go. these are my thoughts and mine alone, please take them at face value and not as confirmed. they are just notes? theories? stuff to keep in mind about the world from lore - Brighttail, Almaz, and Fern are protagonists and as it relates to the story it means they cannot die... so even if Fern ends up getting killed by Carnival (as it might be alluded to at the end) they will come back to life to some degree. whether Carnival coming back to life well.... some of the more notable symbols - butterflies - Almaz's wings - yellow flowers - crystal formation Yellow flowers seem to represent Almaz's special connection to Fern. We see them used often as a means of healing, both physically and mentally, and perhaps even a reminder of a non-toxic relationship between Fern and Almaz. From what I've seen Fern genuinely tries to be there for Almaz, and levels a lot with her losses and struggles. Butterflies represent something Almaz wants and tries to have, but simply cannot seem to grasp. This is not just shown in actual butterflies, but also in the purple mask worn by Carnival as well as in the framed pictures on the wall. They might also carry the idea of illusion, and even association with the Creator itself. Almaz's wings and the crystal formation seem to go hand in hand with not only her relationship with Carnival but also within herself. Almaz is determined to get her wings back, but wings go beyond just the physical embodiment of the wings... it also includes the feelings wings bring. This is where Carnival comes in. I'm still debating whether it's a metaphor or if the wings are literally there, but regardless - Carnival seems associated with being able to provide Almaz with the feeling of what it was like to have wings. However, in order for that to happen, Almaz has to take special drugs to have her crystals grow (drugs she seems she can only get by Carnival) > 0:39 ; a statue of cupid only with Almaz's wings, shooting an arrow that stirs crystal growth. > 0:56 ; drugs and alcohol immediately leading to drastic crystal formation, and the elated feeling of having wings in their mind. > 1:03 ; being that this is the first time Almaz has done the drug proposed by Carnival, the euphoria of thinking she has her actual wings back leads her to jump. but reality hits hard as she crashes to the ground and shatters both mentally and physically. > 1:22 - 1:23; drugs leading to crystal formation. if brightgoat ain't symbolizing self-harm with putting these on the wrist. > 1:28; going into the next scenes of just, others expecting Almaz to harm herself cause that's what she's here for right? she wants this and is okay with this right. (yikes) > 1:31; we got Almaz struggling with the withdrawal of substance abuse, with the feeling of having wings being the key that has her looking up and back at the needle again. > 1:37; struggling to not give in to the urge, even proceeding to start to heal. but the moment Carnival speaks and that butterfly comes back into Almaz's head, the next time we see Almaz is completely doped. > 2:00; we see the entire transition and mental break that Almaz is experiencing- which mirrors the beginning of the song when the world first broke apart. in a way she is losing her wings again as she devolves mentally by these drugs that seem to meant just to make crystals to harvest. Other important points > 0:47; we see Almaz drop a yellow flower, almost in the representation of letting go of that path to pursue the one with Carnival. We see this further accented on at 1:00, as a prompt comes up for "connection lost" for Fern. > 1:07; Fern, being an actual og, comes to help her friend and once again we see the healing yellow flowers. but god damn Almaz cannot get the feeling of those wings out of her head. > 2:13; we see Carnival attempt to show love by using a flower that is clearly Ferns, almost in a way of trying to have Almaz reassociate that feeling with her as opposed to Fern (lol it's like the end of Phantom of the Opera all over again). Or even potentially use the flower as a means of trying to have Almaz think that what they have is okay and healthy.... but Brigttail having none of that shirt. > 1:48 ; I don't believe Fern is actually seeing wings, but the scene is instead a representation of the epiphany that what Carnival is giving Almaz is allowing her to experience that feeling of having them back. And that is infuriating to Fern, who is coping with similar losses and knows this being is not only standing in the way of Almaz's growth and livelihood... but her relationship with Almaz. All she wants to do is be there for Almaz as she struggles through her hardships and show empathy in their shared traumas. (and maybe try to help her heal from the very real potential that she may have to accept she might never get her wings back) TLDR: seems the video really tackles substance abuse and how missing something so profoundly can lead to substance abuse/ very toxic relationships/self-harm if it can bring a similar feeling back (even if it is an illusion of the true feeling) and how difficult it is for the friends of those struggling to feel helpless / feel like they are losing someone important to it. healing is hard man, dang
I absolutely love how you don't give the female animals eyelashes. It's just unnecessary when movie studios that. They're animals. Most of the time they look the same. Otherwise you can portray gender through other ways, haha.
I add them to my characters. Theyre all from like the 20s- 50s. Or atleast thats the time where the story plays. So the females are very feminine except one, which is the villain. I haven't written a proper script but all i know is that shes mentally sick and a psychotic little shit and driven her best friend into suicide because she (the friend( couldn't escape her. Im still thinking about if it was suicide or self harm. Its complicated but im not making fun of mental illnesses or anything. Also the villain is a demon moth that has masculine clothing (suit, belt, pants etc. All what the 30s considered manly) and heels.
Your amv's are always so mesmerizing and make me want to pause on every frame so I can just stare at how gorgeous it all is! The story of Almaz/Brighttail/Fern is so cool to see slowly unfold both in your art and the doc! Thank you for sharing your world with us!!
I think that Almaz is just being used by carnival in more ways than just emotionally Those are her wings on the statue at 0:38, and theres a lot of implication that Almazs crystals are being used- perhaps whats in the syringe or bottles? And then Carnival also seems to be using her relationship with Almaz as a way to gain social status, and even when Almaz realises her true intentions (0:34) shes fine with ignoring it until it begins to hurt fern, who has never seen Carnival as anything other than the monster she truely is (2:04) Also shes never seen with both wings and crystals- was that the creators doing or carnival herself?

Every time you post content of these characters my lifespan increases by 10 years. I would pay so much money to see a show about their story, I swear. Also, I really liked Brighttail in this. When you first made her, I didn’t really connect with her character, but idk, something changed here. You’ve improved a lot as a story teller, to the point where I can begin to love a character from only a few seconds of screen time. I’ve loved watching your artistic journey, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
just wanna say i’m a huuuge fan of this video! while i have done some animated projects, none of them have both fully coloured and over 2 minutes at the same time like yours is, so i can only imagine the amount of commitment it required. i hope this doesn’t sound weird but i think you’re pretty good at strategically pacing your scenes in such a way where the viewer doesn’t notice that there isn’t a crazy amount of frames/smoothness in a lot of sections, which is what anyone wants to do really i’ll also say that i love the sense of storytelling and progression of events throughout the video, the progression is absolutely delicious to me. it’s hard enough to make a story based animation let alone confining that story to a music video’s length which this does, it’s admirable the last thing is that i think your ocs are pretty cool looking in terms of design and if this video is anything to go by, their personalities bounce off of each other nicely too c: keep it up!

Honest critique, looking at this I see a bunch of little things I'd want to add to and fiddle with and... never actually post the damn thing. I love how the intensity slowly rises throughout the song, it's amazing! Just the combination of very detailed and clean artworks and more simplified animation is really impressive and I love the lore!

I am speechless the detail on all of this and the fact that it’s a whole 2 minutes long :O, the dedication to this project and you putting all that effort in it really shows through in the video. This is really breathtaking and all of your backgrounds and background objects like the statues are so inspiring. I haven’t read the lore yet but I kinda feel bad for Almaz, they seem super sweet. But I’m gonna go read all the lore now cause I love this so much
God I love the way you do your storytelling. Everything from the colours to the iconography to the character interactions come together to form a pretty cool narrative, and all the characters feel so distinct and entertaining.
Brighttail's Jacket is so cute ngl. So Theory time Almaz loves Carnival and Carnival is making her take Drugs and stuff like that. I'm guessing Carnival is using her for her crystals which I'm guessing can make some sort of Drug that Carnival is making money off of. Fern can tell what's going on and tries to get Almaz back but then ends up missing her arm. Carnival continues to use Almaz and then Brighttail eventually kills Carnival by bashing her in the head with a bat.

I keep watching it and I can't get over how meta it is? Like I can tell some of the things are metaphors or just meta comments, like all the error windows and that one scene where it's a polaroid of Almaz in front of some mountains but then the perspective changes and she's actually in a set and the background falls away. And I just love how Carnival is never trusted. I can understand why Almaz might have fallen for her because she is pretty and mysterious, but I get the sense that Carnival is toying with her? Idk, I love it.
THIS LOOKS SO COOL, WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THESE CHARACTERS AGAIN AND WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED Also some things from the High Enough animation make more sense now Also 0:35 is the only appropriate reaction to what ever the hell Carnival is- Also, something I just noticed, the scene right after Fern is being brutally attacked by Carnival, you don't see her right arm, which is the one ripped off from what you can see
I love that this is the perfect mix of meme and animatic. The song is standard enough to give the impression of a meme but the amount of backstory makes it so much more. You could just enjoy the art and listen to the song, but there’s enough details to piece together a bigger story.

There's a chance that Fern could still be alive, in the lore document it mentions the Law of Deus Ex Machina which basically states that the protagonists can't stay dead, they'll reappear somewhere with less memories or such. Im hoping that's the case for Fern lmao

Whether it's lyrics, hidden things, or just cool little things that make me so happy! For example: the statue has Almaz's wings and the statues being cleaned are Brighttail and Fern. 1:25 so im thinking of a theory so here: basically crystal cat is in another world trying to find answers (desc), but he meets up with some people and they realize his crystals are very expensive, so they try to make her make more, and she ends up getting badly hurt due to making so many crystals, more than her body can handle.

I honestly cannot express enough how much I love the world and story you've created here. I wanna read about everything like its book for hours on end. It's so unique, so expressive, its just absolutely wonderful to watch, read about, and piece together. I can't wait to see what happens next in the storyline!

ok so i think that parde and carnaval are like assistants to the creator since we saw him in the buttercup amv with the creator and carnival is clearly helping him. in one of your older pieces we saw parade and carnival sharing drinks they clearly know each other. and finally we see him painting at 1:56 i think that he helped the creator make the designs for brightail (in the run rabbit run meme). and last theory carnaval is a clone. because there is carnaval (she has a mask) doctor heart who also wears something over her eyes and looks suspiciously a lot like carnaval. and lastly i don't know her name but avenas factory inspector who has gears over her eyes and looks exactly the same as carnaval. ok that's it thanks for reading

watching this at .25 speed and seeing all of the little details like the different drinks with symbols of each of the characters and everything that happened just made me so incredibly appreciative and in awe of the work that went into this. i can't even begin to understand how you did this so incredibly well with an numerous amount of detail, but i applaud you with everything i've got.

I commented this a few months ago - but I can't find my comment, I remembered it being poorly worded and the UA-cam algorithm has brought me here again so here we go: I really appreciate how you don't keep it consistent whether the characters are anthro/furry or feral/fourlegged, that's something I don't really see artists do and I think it's super useful since different videos (and sometimes even different points in a video) need different styles for different tones. Also a little bird told me that you are/were Brightpawquest? You were my biggest inspiration as a little kid and it's seems you've come right round to inspiree again today. Small world, eh?

0:03 "Delete all feelings" tab. Her looking up at the sky with a drooping face, probably debating the answer of the tab/her thought. Maybe The Creator's tab, with the intention of clicking YES.
0:05 Brighttail and The Creator switching, the thought of Brighttail and The Creator being the same person or at the very least reminding Almaz of when The Creator tore off her wings representing her past world.

You can see Parade dusting off statues of Brighttail and Fern. Notice how Almaz isn't there, could be referencing how Parade might not take notice of her or doesn't think of her part of the bigger picture of life.
Almaz slowly deteriorating as these events happen, causing her to lose sanity as you would.
Fern's arm being ripped off by a, you guessed, mutilated Carnival. We don't know if this actully happened or was all figurative because is the next scene with the Fern and Al hug, fern is using the arm that wasn't ripped off, not showing if the dismembering had happened.
Car approaches a bloody Al, offering a flower suspiciously similar to one of Fern's as a peace offering/love offering. then bang bang boom brighttail murder but idk

The statue seen at 0:38 is the iconic Eros statue. In greek mythology, Eros is the god of love and lust, to be struck by his arrow is to fall in love.
The statue at 0:45 is the statue of Nike, greek goddess of victory. Her most iconic statue was found without the head or arms, but with large wings.
At 0:51 those things are bongs. Bongs are used to smoke weed.

I love everything about this- the world building, lore, the detail given to the characters, and I’m sure everyone loved this too. Expect me to invest all my attention in this.
Really interesting video. From what we can see:
-Almaz seems to be in love with Carnival.
-Carnival manipulates Almaz (because why wouldn't she?) and intoxicate her (or him? Is Almaz a girl??? I don't remember) with drugs and alcohol.
-Almaz's crystal seems to be popular, as we can see by the different people taking them. I assume the crystals can be used to make drugs, since it seems to be a big part of Almaz's character.
-Fern will get dismembered by Carnival (I wasn't expecting that btw).
-Brighttail will bash Carnival's head with a baseball bat (wasn't expecting that too, considering how kind and compassionate Brighttail is. Then again, Brightgoat did say they would change as the story progresses).
That's all I found, for now. I might add things if I find anything else. I love the story so far!
I think another thing is that Carnival may have shot Almaz with something to make the crystals grow, this could have been symbolic but i thought it was worth mentioning :P
I think the crystals/diamonds can be either eaten raw or turned into a drink, as seen around 1:31.
Basically, Carnival uses Almaz for profit, and when Fern and Brighttail learn what's going on they come to save Almaz and tear Carnival to shreds.
I'm pretty sure she used drugs to make more crystals, to make more drugs and profit and such, since you can see near the end crystals are growing everywhere on her body.

If you look at the description you can see the story is that Brighttail Fern and Almaz are apparently hunting down the creator, The creator destroyed their worlds and mutilating their bodies so they’re traveling across worlds.
Almaz wings and world were taken. same with Fern’s eye. It seems like she’s lived in an area filled with crystals so her body produce them. Same with Fern with plants. That’s when she met Carnival and I think they may have had a business deal she fell in love with Carnival and her crystals became popular to make some drug. It was a toxic relationship. I think when Almaz realize this Fern comforted them. Carnival also seems to have powers which is the rather gross limb thing which they used to hurt Fern that’s when Brighttail hit them with a bat. There’s definitely a lot more I could talk about but I don’t want to make this too long.
Unless you're read the person's over-extensive lore, animation memes are just a colorful clusterfuck of cats and violent/surreal nonsense, but it's good violent/surreal nonsense and I love it. :)

Yeah this whole story can be pretty confusing if the first thing that had anything to do with it you watched was the high enough animation. Totally didn't do that myself...
I actually have seen all the animations and there were alot of things I didn't get but then I looked around in all the deviant art stuff and found lots of comics and drawings. I read that document about the timeline and story in its development and then rewatched all the animations. I ended noticing alot of stuff I missed before.

my theory of what happened: Carnival is in a relationship with Almaz, but somehow the relationship goes south and Carnival begins hurting/abusing/manipulating Almaz, maybe drugging her to make those crystals grow and then harvesting them to sell (that’s super awesome and messed up if that’s the case) and Almaz develops serious trust issues because of it. Later, the trio infiltrates one of Carnival’s parties to attack her, and Fern gets messed up by Carnival, but Brighttail manages to kill her?

@@goober_artz Actually I have theories about the end of the buttercup, one of them is what you say and the other is that Fern after "reaching peace with herself" manages to get along better with everyone and have a true friendship, even with Almaz with whom she seems who gets along worse (which is bad since they see each other constantly as they are partners in this crazy story). Another is that in that period of time Almaz would have finished with Carnival and now she is happier and more cheerful, which makes Fern happy.

hah i never add comments to things but here we go. these are my thoughts and mine alone, please take them at face value and not as confirmed. they are just notes? theories?
stuff to keep in mind about the world from lore - Brighttail, Almaz, and Fern are protagonists and as it relates to the story it means they cannot die... so even if Fern ends up getting killed by Carnival (as it might be alluded to at the end) they will come back to life to some degree. whether Carnival coming back to life well....
some of the more notable symbols
- butterflies
- Almaz's wings
- yellow flowers
- crystal formation
Yellow flowers seem to represent Almaz's special connection to Fern. We see them used often as a means of healing, both physically and mentally, and perhaps even a reminder of a non-toxic relationship between Fern and Almaz. From what I've seen Fern genuinely tries to be there for Almaz, and levels a lot with her losses and struggles.
Butterflies represent something Almaz wants and tries to have, but simply cannot seem to grasp. This is not just shown in actual butterflies, but also in the purple mask worn by Carnival as well as in the framed pictures on the wall. They might also carry the idea of illusion, and even association with the Creator itself.
Almaz's wings and the crystal formation seem to go hand in hand with not only her relationship with Carnival but also within herself. Almaz is determined to get her wings back, but wings go beyond just the physical embodiment of the wings... it also includes the feelings wings bring. This is where Carnival comes in.
I'm still debating whether it's a metaphor or if the wings are literally there, but regardless - Carnival seems associated with being able to provide Almaz with the feeling of what it was like to have wings. However, in order for that to happen, Almaz has to take special drugs to have her crystals grow (drugs she seems she can only get by Carnival)

> 0:47; we see Almaz drop a yellow flower, almost in the representation of letting go of that path to pursue the one with Carnival. We see this further accented on at 1:00, as a prompt comes up for "connection lost" for Fern.
> 1:07; Fern, being an actual og, comes to help her friend and once again we see the healing yellow flowers. but god damn Almaz cannot get the feeling of those wings out of her head.
> 2:13; we see Carnival attempt to show love by using a flower that is clearly Ferns, almost in a way of trying to have Almaz reassociate that feeling with her as opposed to Fern (lol it's like the end of Phantom of the Opera all over again). Or even potentially use the flower as a means of trying to have Almaz think that what they have is okay and healthy.... but Brigttail having none of that shirt.

TLDR: seems the video really tackles substance abuse and how missing something so profoundly can lead to substance abuse/ very toxic relationships/self-harm if it can bring a similar feeling back (even if it is an illusion of the true feeling) and how difficult it is for the friends of those struggling to feel helpless / feel like they are losing someone important to it.

I absolutely love how you don't give the female animals eyelashes. It's just unnecessary when movie studios that. They're animals. Most of the time they look the same. Otherwise you can portray gender through other ways, haha.
Well when I don’t draw eyelashes on a character they look like a male so I kinda die inside by that lol-
I add them to my characters. Theyre all from like the 20s- 50s. Or atleast thats the time where the story plays. So the females are very feminine except one, which is the villain. I haven't written a proper script but all i know is that shes mentally sick and a psychotic little shit and driven her best friend into suicide because she (the friend( couldn't escape her. Im still thinking about if it was suicide or self harm.
Its complicated but im not making fun of mental illnesses or anything.
Also the villain is a demon moth that has masculine clothing (suit, belt, pants etc. All what the 30s considered manly) and heels.

I think that Almaz is just being used by carnival in more ways than just emotionally
Those are her wings on the statue at 0:38, and theres a lot of implication that Almazs crystals are being used- perhaps whats in the syringe or bottles?
And then Carnival also seems to be using her relationship with Almaz as a way to gain social status, and even when Almaz realises her true intentions (0:34) shes fine with ignoring it until it begins to hurt fern, who has never seen Carnival as anything other than the monster she truely is (2:04)
Also shes never seen with both wings and crystals- was that the creators doing or carnival herself?

Also, I really liked Brighttail in this. When you first made her, I didn’t really connect with her character, but idk, something changed here. You’ve improved a lot as a story teller, to the point where I can begin to love a character from only a few seconds of screen time. I’ve loved watching your artistic journey, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
just wanna say i’m a huuuge fan of this video! while i have done some animated projects, none of them have both fully coloured and over 2 minutes at the same time like yours is, so i can only imagine the amount of commitment it required. i hope this doesn’t sound weird but i think you’re pretty good at strategically pacing your scenes in such a way where the viewer doesn’t notice that there isn’t a crazy amount of frames/smoothness in a lot of sections, which is what anyone wants to do really
i’ll also say that i love the sense of storytelling and progression of events throughout the video, the progression is absolutely delicious to me. it’s hard enough to make a story based animation let alone confining that story to a music video’s length which this does, it’s admirable
the last thing is that i think your ocs are pretty cool looking in terms of design and if this video is anything to go by, their personalities bounce off of each other nicely too c: keep it up!

I love how the intensity slowly rises throughout the song, it's amazing! Just the combination of very detailed and clean artworks and more simplified animation is really impressive and I love the lore!

God I love the way you do your storytelling. Everything from the colours to the iconography to the character interactions come together to form a pretty cool narrative, and all the characters feel so distinct and entertaining.

So Theory time
Almaz loves Carnival and Carnival is making her take Drugs and stuff like that. I'm guessing Carnival is using her for her crystals which I'm guessing can make some sort of Drug that Carnival is making money off of. Fern can tell what's going on and tries to get Almaz back but then ends up missing her arm. Carnival continues to use Almaz and then Brighttail eventually kills Carnival by bashing her in the head with a bat.
This hasn’t premiered yet but I already know it’s amazing!! You’re my favorite animator and I’ve binged watched all of your animations, they are so good and SO professional!! I would love to be able to animate like that, you’re so talented. I hope you know that! :)

I keep watching it and I can't get over how meta it is? Like I can tell some of the things are metaphors or just meta comments, like all the error windows and that one scene where it's a polaroid of Almaz in front of some mountains but then the perspective changes and she's actually in a set and the background falls away. And I just love how Carnival is never trusted. I can understand why Almaz might have fallen for her because she is pretty and mysterious, but I get the sense that Carnival is toying with her? Idk, I love it.

The song is standard enough to give the impression of a meme but the amount of backstory makes it so much more.

There's a chance that Fern could still be alive, in the lore document it mentions the Law of Deus Ex Machina which basically states that the protagonists can't stay dead, they'll reappear somewhere with less memories or such. Im hoping that's the case for Fern lmao

basically crystal cat is in another world trying to find answers (desc), but he meets up with some people and they realize his crystals are very expensive, so they try to make her make more, and she ends up getting badly hurt due to making so many crystals, more than her body can handle.

ok so i think that parde and carnaval are like assistants to the creator since we saw him in the buttercup amv with the creator and carnival is clearly helping him. in one of your older pieces we saw parade and carnival sharing drinks they clearly know each other. and finally we see him painting at 1:56 i think that he helped the creator make the designs for brightail (in the run rabbit run meme). and last theory carnaval is a clone. because there is carnaval (she has a mask) doctor heart who also wears something over her eyes and looks suspiciously a lot like carnaval. and lastly i don't know her name but avenas factory inspector who has gears over her eyes and looks exactly the same as carnaval. ok that's it thanks for reading

I really appreciate how you don't keep it consistent whether the characters are anthro/furry or feral/fourlegged, that's something I don't really see artists do and I think it's super useful since different videos (and sometimes even different points in a video) need different styles for different tones.
Also a little bird told me that you are/were Brightpawquest? You were my biggest inspiration as a little kid and it's seems you've come right round to inspiree again today. Small world, eh?
