I put my soup ingredients in a thermos. Then I pour boiling water over it in the morning, seal it and take it to work. By lunch time everything is cooked.

I love your channel so much. Which is weird because I'm 17, and I spend most of my UA-cam time watching weird, pointless things and then I found you and there's soooo many ideas I've never been introduced to and honestly, every time I watch a video, I think you're going to be out of ideas, and then you aren't and I am constantly amazed. Ok I'm done rambling but, I love your channel and will honestly support anything you do!

    GUUUUUUUUUURL!!!!!! I am dying.
Back story: I work for New York City and as part of the city's initiative to reduce our carbon footprint; they made all staff remove personal microwaves and fridges from work spaces. So I, we, were forced to share the communal fridge and microwave in the break room and --- lets just say, its nasty. I hate hate hate HATE packing lunches and I always brought left overs but since I refused to use the encrusted foods of yesteryear microwave, I have been eating an apple and a string cheese for lunch for the last 5 years. So sad.
I did however manage to keep my electric kettle and around 2 PM I would make me some green tea.
Now this! I just, haphazardly, made the coconut curry soup without following the proper directions as a "trial run" and let me tell you:
HOT LUNCH IS BACK BABY!!!!!!! It was really good! Can't wait to actually follow the recipe and add shrimp plus try the others!!! Fabulous video, you are amazing and I can not wait bring envy to those who 1. have to use the gross microwave and 2. have to hit the bodega for sandwiches in the cold winter weather. You, my dear, are an angel.
Keep up the great work! PS - More soup cup ideas!!!

Veroplane I don't blame u for not using work microwaves.......u would think they would be cleaner. When I worked I used to bring my lunch to work too. It was like living with kids that don't know how to clean. My own children are cleaner lol

I just made and ate one of your oatmeal recipes I discovered yesterday. It was so good!
I used my homemade chia seed, berry jam (and strawberries) in it.
I can't wait to try these soups!
Thank you so much for posting.
I really appreciate all the tips as you go, like keeping the ones with meat for only a couple days and being sure the meat is cooked before adding.
    Very helpful.

I love these DIY cup of noodles. I made it 5 days in a row for work. Everyone was so impressed when I heated up my lunch. The first day I ended up with luke warm soup when I just poured hot water over it and I was starting with frozen veggies in the cup:( Every other day I added cold water and nuked it for 3 minutes and it was perfect!
Thanks for sharing all these great varieties!

I use the same recipes in my Lunch Crock food warmer by Crock Pot.
It works really well and the flavors blend more when the soup is warmed for 2 hours before eating. I fill the 20oz removable inner container with the ingredients on this youtube, and plug the warmer in when I get into the office. It gets really piping hot without coming to a boil. Thank you for the lovely recipes!

Does putting the ingredients in the mason jar without any liquid allow for a longer shelf life as opposed to making the soup on the stove and individually pouring them in the jars?

This is one of my favourite videos for the exact same reason a lot of people are complaining. I don't like overpowering flavours in my soup so just the little bit of flavour in the bottom and all the veggies are perfect for me. The chicken and rice soup is my favourite. I always like to add black pepper to my soup too.

I was excited about this idea. It seems like the perfect healthy lunch solution. So I gave it a try. The jar contents need to be refrigerated prior to heating, so they start off cold. I did warm my jar up with hot water prior to pouring boiling water in a refrigerated jar because I was afraid the glass might crack. Even though I cooked my veggies a bit prior to putting them in the jar, they were still a little crunchy. Also the boiling water on the cold ingredients just didn't equal hot soup. I think the concept could work, though, but the soup needs to be in a microwavable dish so it can be properly heated. Was nice to use the soup base and leftovers to make an individual soup. I've found lots of great ideas on this channel. Thanks for sharing your creativity.

Personally I'd just actually make soup to bring and warm up at work or wherever. The act of cooking/simmer adds so much more flavour in my opinion. Plus, those mason jars seem awfully full, too full to stir up the resulting "soup" and eat out of which I'd assume is part of the appeal as this is suppose to be a sort of "soup cup". Just my 2 cents worth.

Thank you for the recipes! You always make it look so quick and easy, inspiring me to actually cook!
I'm not sure if this will help anyone looking to experiment, but I added daikon (spiraled it in a zucchini "noodle" maker) and roasted nori to the "miso soup noodle" recipe. I think it helped to add a little something to the broth. I'll be on the look-out for MSG-free dashi (hopefully it exists lol) to experiment with as well. I used edamame pasta instead of the kelp noodles (found edamame pasta at costco & couldn't find the kelp ones). I also spiraled the carrots in the zucchini noodle maker so that the daikon and carrot "noodles," along with the edamame pasta made for a fun assortment of texture. :)

wakame seaweed might work better in the miso soup one than the spinach. I do homemade miso soup balls that have miso paste mixed with dashi powder. I wrap them with cling film and keep them in the freezer. Pack with wakame, diced tofu, and a few steamed veggies for lunch.

The Domestic Geek is it possible to make these and can them for long term storage, such as pressure canning or something? I am starting my food pantry and would much rather store these than store bought soups.

I'm not sure... it seems like its hard to mix specially if its all packed up...
Might have to eventually transferred to a bowl?

+Gem ‘Gandara’ Lim Exactly my thoughts.

+Gem “Gandara” Lim this is only for video purposes to make them look pretty. In reality u would use a bigger jar/less ingredient to make them not so packed. Also, if you're eating them the next day stirring all the ingredients with the seasoning would help them absorb some of the flavour too

+Gem “Gandara” Lim It's like the premise of the salad in a jar. You would be inverting the contents into another vessel for eating. The materials that the mason jar and lid are made of are perfect for holding such hot contents long enough to heat them through as well as keeping it all fresh in the fridge before you consume it. Happy eating!

I've personally never tried them myself but they seem easy to shake. Just don't put as much things that would make it hard to shake in :)

Inspiring, if they, say can, be canned

These recipes are awesome! What sizes are the jars? Are they 12, 16, 24, etc. ounces? Thanks!

oh yum I love soups particularly when it's cold out and I used to eat instant noodles all the time but they have a TON of salt and even healthier caned soups have a lot of salt too. I know what I'm trying out this week for lunch.

I dunno about the water not being hot enough, after all, the Japanese have been doing stuff with shabu-shabu for a pretty long time, so I think something like shredded beef would be fine, especially if you prefer that taste, I love these just all the way around and I'm for sure figuring out different things I could do. I don't have much for canning jars (I need to fix that) but I wonder if some mini stoneware pots with tops would work even better. I actually even love that these have to go into the fridge, so, so, very fresh.

I absolutely love the red coconut curry recipe. At my local asian store where I purchased the red curry paste, I also found yellow and green curry paste. Could I use either for this recipe? or do you have a recipe for the other curry pastes as well?

I started doing my own noodle cups because though I like ramen, the sodium is high and no veggies or protein. I use rice noodles from the international market. They also carry han dashi power- the base for miso soup. Makes for a quick lunch that is relatively healthy. Like the curry soup. May try that one. Good job. I too love canning jars. Check out the ones from weck. Beautiful.
