Good review, however - the Vonets wifi extender posted in your link is branded as ZWO, the same make is available on Amazon & Ebay costing half the price.
Hey D2EA, You were the one who explained to me how to obtain many wonderful things in Elite and among other great things gave me a first ride to Colonia with your magnificent Northstar. I have so much respect for you that you cant even imagine. I would also like to let you know (in case you havent been informed), there is a community goal to destroy last Titan, Cocijo, in Sol. If you make ANY amount of damage to the core you will receive SCO-enabled FSD, (pre-engineered) with Increased Range and Fast Boot Sequence and unlocked experimentals. One of each class 2-7 FSD. o7 CMDR 😄
Back in the day almnost two decades ago I worked at a small local ISP and we had a setup where a wifi signal off a router was beamed down a pretty steep and woody hill to another receiver about 1.5km down range, but in direct LoS. A pair of high-gain directional dish antennas were used, but other than that it was a pretty bog-standard wifi router/ap providing the connectivity. The connection was actually pretty good and stable, well above what regular wireless internet could provide at that time to the people on the receiving end of this setup. Cheaper, too!
The one i used was just called WiFi Analyzer. There is a number of app like this that dose the same. I took this one because it allowed my to filter so i only saw the wifi i was interested in. Just to make the visuals a but cleaner for the video
I can see this being useful both for portable setups but properly mostly for people keeping their telescope in the garden an haven a hard time reaching it in the house

"First test is going to be tinfoil. This is good for many things, primarily making hats." This is where I scrolled down to like and comment.

I'm sure with the right equipment you can get it a long further. but i guess we are also limited by how much power the AsiAIR can push out
@@cosmic_curiosity of course :D This was in the mid-2000s using pretty much home-grade equipment.
I can see the use also for other applications. Thanks for sharing your results.
Yeah this is applicable in a lot of situations. Not just the asirair
Interesting video, thank you. What app were you using to monitor signal strength?

model # of the vonets bridge? pls
Is this just when you're portable? Otherwise station mode is great for this point exactly.
