I loved every one of your Lutheran worship videos and have shared them all. You need to do one on the sign of the cross. Personally, I would love to see incense used more by Lutherans, even to the extent that University Lutheran Chapel does.

That would be great because often you hear, even sometimes among Lutherans, "That's too Catholic."
Why? In the Bible, God complains about incense. Let the Catholics and orthodox burn incense to their idols. They will become like them.
@@br.m Oh please, God commanded the Israelites to burn incense in the Temple, symbolizing their prayers. It's still a good practice that our Catholic and Orthodox brothers and sisters have. We Lutherans need to reclaim it as well.
@@br.m Sigh. Sadly it looks like you have fallen into the trap of the “it’s to catholic” crowd. The Divine Service (Mass) engages all the senses, including smell. Insense is biblical.

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) doesn't have a formal position on the use of incense in worship services. I dont think its common in Texas.
I have belonged to the Lutheran Missouri Synod Church almost all my life, and there was no mention of incense.

I’ve been to services at many lcms churches and have never seen incense used and I’m grateful. I’ve also been to many Catholic services that do use incense and they tear my allergies up. I get to the point that it’s very difficult to breath.
It’s a practice of the ancient church and it’s biblical. Using incense is very Lutheran. You will encounter incense in some parishes within the LCMS or other confessional Lutheran Church bodies. The practice is not strictly Lutheran; Anglicanism, Catholics, Orthodox use incense. The ancient church never complained about their allergies. I suppose you can over do it with incense but the Lutheran parishes (LCMS) I’ve been to that use incense it’s never been overbearing. Some charcoals put off more smoke than others. I think incense should be used at the very least on feast days.
I used to be Lutheran growing up and we would use in scents until about 2009 or so then the church had gone very liberal and got rid of anything traditional I converted to Russian orthodoxy because my heritage is Russian and we use in scents during every liturgy
Eastern orthodoxy is a backslidden cult. Sorry. Prayers to Mary and dead people, bowing to icons, boasting, lying, departing from scripture. It is unorthodox, no it's not even Christianity. Your "liberal" Lutheran church was not wrong to abandon incense. It is fine.
Isaiah 1:13 Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations-- I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.
Give the conservative Lutheran church a look! The LCMS (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod) or AALC are great. It’s not Orthodox Christianity, but you might enjoy the theology.
I am an ELCA Lutheran. Our church has never used incense and I am not aware of any New Testament or ELCA command to use incense. This practice appears to be an LCMS or WELS practice. This should not be labled as a Lutheran practice.

@@P-el4zd They are down to earth. The denomination allows the ordination of women. The ELCA participates in ecumenical good works with other churches.
While an LCMS church participated in ecumenical cleanup efforts in a southeastern South Dakota town after a tornado. The following year, the pastor at the church was disciplined at an LCMS conference for allowing the church to participate in these cleanup efforts. I also accept the creeds and other teachings of the church. I am hesitant about our policy to ordain gay ministers in committed relationships.
@@stevekohl5351 Sadly, the ELCA is apostate. The ELCA clearly rejects the teachings Book of Concord and sacred scripture (woman can’t become pastors, sexually, biblical inerrancy, abortion, etc.).
You are ELCA so you are not a follower of Christ. Let alone the voice of Lutheran doctrine.
ELCA should not be labeled as Lutheran! They are very far removed with homosexuality clergy!! Nothing Lutheran about it! “ I’m not Lutheran but I do know it’s not what Martin Luther taught!”

Every reformer of the reformation from John Wycliffe to John Wesley, came to the same conclusion on the truth of the antichrist beast and that man of sin by studying the scriptures.
The Popes of Rome are THAT man of sin, and the Roman church is that woman that rides the beast of Revelation 17, having power over the nations and rulers of the earth.
