@@ethangarrison4265 that is a good question that I will answer now. there are 2 aspects 1. the content itself. 2. how you portray it.
first it generally all comes down to what you're saying and if how you say it complements it. what you're saying should be original if it isn't it doesn't matter how "good" it is someone and many others said it already. this is one reason a lot of people don't care for these types of rappers they are just watered-down versions of their idol with no substance. it makes them look like a wanna be or a fan who does parody that no one takes seriously. people would much rather take a garbage original rapper then a watered-down copy.
what you're actually saying and trying to do, complemented with how you portray it is a big one that people these days don't seem to get. is when they are saying something there tonality is often contradicting what they are saying. it seems like not a big deal, but tonality plays a huge role. they are speaking so of course it does. with bad tonality of what they are saying can hinder their bar a lot. another thing is connecting to what they are saying to get the message across is where they often fail. usually it's about meaning/ emotion. for example, if someone said idk. a bad bar that what they are trying to say is good but how they connect it when they say "like" and then punchline, but the punchline is garbage it just ruins the bar. or like most of these rappers rely on surface level references and think they are good. which there are ways to do it and make it good. but man, they certainly don't know how to do it. they do it so forcefully while making all these connections. like I never MISS Jackson just to forcefully connect outcast then. yes there are more connections wow so good. usually what makes a double meaning good is when it's connected with 2 layers and you're saying more things at a time. and I'm not talking about the simple associations. I'm talking about saying 2 bars at once or sentences with it. example is that he saying he never misses. and is an outcast because he doesn't lose. ok what else? what else are you saying when you bring up those other refences? nothing he is just saying them to say them. just to make simple associations to make the crowd go wow get it miss Jackson OutKast. in this category this is equivalent as rhyming just to rhyme. but this is just bringing it up just to bring it up.

A few tidbits regarding this cypher:
1. Half the roster are involved in the Nerdcore music community, so the anime and gaming references came with the territory in some of these verses.
2. Shwabadi (the first 0) admitted on stream that he wasn't really feeling the beat when he wrote and recorded his verse. In my opinion, I think he did what he could with the material he was given. But I think he could've gone harder (and possibly would've still gotten disqualified if he would've still used the old head line).
3. Regarding Rustage (the other verse who got a 0): from what I can gather, his verse was apparently an exercise in how much stupid, random goofy shit he could get away with rapping on this particular track. So yeah, definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Also, "Calliope, how I'm deadbeat" is a shout-out to a Vtuber named Calliope Mori, whose fanbase are called Deadbeats.
4. You most likely picked up on this during the back half of Scru's verse, Michelle, but he IS shooting at someone there. Namely, another artist named None Like Joshua, who had recently found himself in hot water over jokes and comments that came off being racist. (Also, in the version of the audio that's on streaming platforms, Scru clearly says at the end "And I don't like Joshua. Facts!" The part where NLJ is mentioned was cut out for the video upload.)
