Wrap a texture or pattern around an object - Photoshop Week 30

- You're probably seen the effect of making an everyday object appear to be painted or made of a strange material before. The effect is popular on adverts and creative websites like worth1000 but how is it done?
Well it's all down to the displace filter. This prehistoric filter is very unhelpful to look at but digital expert Gavin Hoey www.gavtrain.com shows you how to use it and create amazing results

11 years later and this tutorial is still helping people like myself, thank you for the well put together video. 😃👍
Me too. I still refer to this video today!!
I like the way you explain what each of the tools do instead of just flying through and using them all! Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
wow, 13 years later and it's still helpful
You never stop learning with Photoshop. Good luck and enjoy the tutorials.
It's 2020
I want to know about you.
What are you doing now these days ?
🙂

This is, by far, the best tutorial I've seen in the last months, and I've seen PLENTY.
You are heads above other tutorials I have tried to follow. You are slow and precise. Thank you.
Best Displacement tutorial on UA-cam, so easy to follow for us newbys, thanks Gavin
absolute game changer for me. i cannot believe after so many years of photoshop i only just learned of this now. thank you. :)))
You are certainly one of the best out there for tutorials. You're clear, don't say "ummm..." much if at all and get to the point swiftly without making me feel "Wait...what'd you say? What's going on?" Great job.
Gavin, you are my new hero! As a "hack" Photoshop user I've been looking for tutorials that are clear, concise, well-explained, and professionally presented; you've easily met all those standards.
Gavin, you are the MAN!! Great tutorial. Clear, concise, to the point, no stammering. One of the most helpful titorials I have seen. Thank you, really!!
Amazing. This is only the second tut that I've seen by you, and I've completely understood every thing you've done, even though I'm an utter PS newbie. These are the best, most clear and concise PS tutorials I've seen yet. Thank you!!!
ive seen a handful of tutorials on displacement maps and this is the FIRST where I began to understand how exactly Displace works
GREAT tutorial. I appreciate when experts like yourself take the time to teach the rest of us!
You are funny too!
This is the absolute best tutorial I have seen for this after a dozen tries. Thank you very much.
I'm here in 2018, thank you for this video!
Same here!
same here!!!

Never came along with such clear oral presenter! 10/10 and a salute!
Gavin, every day I learn something new... thank you! I know a lot of these tutorials were done a couple of years ago, but for me, just learning, they are like Christmas every day!
I no longer watch ANY photoshop videos but yours Gavin! Excellent!
Thank you sir! Very straightforward, clear, informative, easy to follow, and last but not least your voice and articulation is just spot on. Many UA-cam tutorial makers have a lot to learn from you and your style.
Great tutorial. Looks like it took me 8 years to discover this, but it was nice to find one presented by someone who isn't 12 years old or patronisingly technical.

ive been using Ps since xp and still only use the tools from the rut im stuck in
Brilliant! Mine doesn't look anything near as clean and crisp as yours does, but I now understand the concept and how to do it! Thank you.
I cannot thank you enough for this tutorial it was just what I needed!
Easy to follow and very informative, cheers.
Just did this today. Someone posted one on FB and I thought I would jump into the pool. The only stumbling block was my hand photo displacement. When I tried to use the displacement PS told me it had to be 8 bit. One tweak later and I was on my way. Thank you for keeping all of us creative
BEST tutorial I have ever seen! THANK YOU!
i'm so grateful there is a tutorial for everything
best tutorial series on youtube. no doubt.
I can not wait to teach my son what I have learned after watching these tutorials! Thank you for sharing! I was so tired of watching sped up "tutorials" played to crappy music showing really blurry images. They did not explain anything at all!! These videos are a breath of fresh air and have given me the confidence to try it myself. You rock! .....Pri the Honeydark (Female M

"Now the displace filter has to be without question, the least intuative - and least helpful filter within Photoshop, and there's a lot of competition for that prize."
This made me chuckle!
