I was up to apply for a house tiles factory, and all they needed was a "seamless" experience with photoshop patterns. Then sir, a notification of this video popped up. You are a life saver. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I've done this for decades in animation. My work flow is to create a copy, blur it so there's geenral lighting, auto level it then inver it and add is back as a luminosity layer at 12% opacity which is usually spot on. You can do the same with a copy of this layer set to colour to remove colour casts, then ramp up the saturation of the flattened image. Often I've had to deal with a lot of images as textures in projects so its a broad brush to get the work done.
The King of Photoshop 🦁🦁👑👑 mr unmesh i owe you a full semester tuition fees, because you taught me more than my university lecturer did. A Million Times THANKS From Somalia (east of africa) ❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻
useful as always, only another tips instead of dodge and burn, use High Pass and blend with down colour levels, to keep details on and make uniform texture.
One way to semi-automate the large scale variation is to make a copy of the layer, invert it, desaturate it, blur it a lot (say, 250 pixels), and normalize the result with auto levels. The result is the negative of the large scale variation in the image. You then apply this in overlay mode on top of the original (using same offset on both layers to bring the seams to the center), and adjusting the layer opacity until the seams are more or less gone. After doing this, proceed to work on the seams with generative fill etc.
If you're using The GIMP, you can do the same by going to layer > transform > offset. It even has a handy tool in it to offset your image by 50% of it's resolution, placing the seam directly in the middle of the canvas! Then you just use the Clone Tool to remove the seam, then redo the offset to reposition the image. GIMP doesn't have fancy removal / content fill tools though, so it's up to you to clone out the seam.
Another way of doing the darkness adjustment is to make the image B&W, blur it a bunch, invert it, and multiply it back in. It's the sort of thing you can do in a batch job if you have a bunch to do.
I have developed around 8000 endless 4k textures for "Virtual Reality brushes" over the last few years: The tiling/endless texture function in the "free, local Stable Diffusion AI" is so good and fast that it's pure magic for me. In PS it sometimes takes hours until a very complex texture is ready, in "SD" it takes around 5 minutes and you can start from your own image...I hope it is okay to post this "non PS tip" here but I think it could be very helpful! Happy colored greetinx.
@@-Castiel- the model is based on the content...you may need more steps for tiling: I render tiling textures with minimum 80 steps...I hope this helps!
@@coloryvr Tried again with 80 steps and no improvement. Maybe it's the content? I was trying to generate something with rainbows, fairies and unicorns; the characters look awful (more like modern art, all melted and confusing) and the colors are very fried sadly. Works fine when I generate with the same prompt but turn tiling off =(
Damn. You get ahead of me every time! Just left another comment in your latest video about this very thing crying because I couldn’t figure it out. And here you are predicting the future like always. 😂
Coming up in the next video: Free plugin to permanently delete adobe products from your hard drive. But seriously you do an awesome job teaching graphic software. Thanks!
I was looking at buying the composite plugin and I wanted to make sure “perpetual” means one time purchase and I am good to keep using it forever. (Usually this is called lifetime not perpetual)
Ps2 used to use textures like that. Pattern variation matters in realism and it throws off the image if everything looks perfect or has a repetitive cut and paste blocking.

I understand this will work in photoshop, but if you were to save as jpeg and import into another program where it normally “tiles” will it be seamless then?
Hi, mr Unmesh, could you help me to solve one strange problem with photoshop? It related to graphic tablet, I suppose. When tablet is off, and I work with mouse, Ps slows down. As soon as I turn on the tablet, it starts work fine immediately. How to fix this? Thank you. p.s. sorry for my terrible grammar, english is not my native.
Amazing, but still, I wish to learn WITHOUT the genAI, oldschool stuff, any extra tricks? I know about offset and clone tool, but anything more would be perfect!

Damn, I’ve been working on nearly this exact same video for two weeks. But there are some issues I’m running into. I wrote a series of actions that would spread out the image all around and work on the seams for me I’m making a seamless pattern to bring into sampler to make a PBR material more specifically to make a height map. When I use generative fill, the feathering that it introduces is 99% of the time visible in the height map as a gray line. Sometimes it works perfectly. Most of times it doesn’t and I can’t figure it out. Have you tried this and run into any problems?
