The problem isn't disconnecting players. It's Fromsoft not realizing that this would be rampant in an online competitive mode and punishing disconnect abusers when it's the year 2023.
Lost my rank-up because of this. I technically won 8 qualifying matches, but due to d/c's I then lost additional and didn't rank-up. Worst is, if you d/c you lose a qualifying match still.
melee builds are crazy fun fr. I've been running a laser lance/chainsaw build with the split missiles and a zimmerman (for an empakaai cosplay) and it's a blast to hit

This is really impressive. I'm having a lot of fun in ranked PvP, so I'm interested in studying the skills and techs on display haha. I'm also a fan of lightweight melee builds due to how fun they are. Although I've settled into what is called a VBO build. While I didn't look up the build per se, the two obvious parts of it, Viento and Basho are so self evidently powerful that it's no rocket science to come up with. On that note, what does everyone think of conforming to meta? I wish I had the skills Mood has and was able to pull off a build like what he's using, but it does feel like a LW pure melee build has a higher skill ceiling to win, versus something like just throwing missiles on a Lamm quad and ABing away lol. On a similar note, is the Pulse Blade the best weapon for canceling? I prefer the Laser Dagger, but it does seem like the Pulse Blade is better on most metrics. The less versatile charged attack of the LD combined with the weaker hits is a pretty big drawback, and it's most amazing feature, the near instant CD, feels less relevant in PvP where it's all about that one opening. ATM the big reason for me to use the LD is that I like to combo it with Assault Armor, and the Pulse Blade's second hit pushes back staggered enemies, making an AA confirm harder. I'm also relying on QBs instead of Melee Cancels to get into range. Should I just change to a more standard VBO build? Or pursue the art of melee? I really love the concept of linear rails, and the idea of a linear rifle confirm instead of using the meta Vientos is appealing even though I know it would be significantly harder.
You are superior to anyone who meat slaves to win. Their hollow victories mean nothing, they built their way to a win, while you actually tried your hardest and played a skill expressive build to achieve the same thing. A win you get and a win they get is NOT comparable.

If I'm looking up and playing an unfun build just for racking up wins, I'd be losing the point of the game. I'm less judgmental if it's a tournament with prizes on the line though.
Depends on what you want out of the game. Conforming to meta really just means you know how to play the game and if you want to win you gotta play the game. Only the most brain rot infected will think they are superior for playing a worse build on purpose.
Armored Core's crown jewel is how obsessively fleshed out the customization system is. Every single component in the game has a strength and justification to be used in, and a weakness. So many different combinations of builds can be made which really should be sparking everyone's creativity. That being said, the most fun and intense matches I've played are those which I can tell the other player made a build that they really invested some time and passion into. It's so much more fun than playing against the cliche double-zimm, double-songbird, double-stun pistols, etc. I'd rather play against someone who loves the build they made as much as I love mine, rather than someone who is following the easiest crumbtrail to ranked wins.

Theres a new ranked mode in pvp. Where people exclusively use missle boats, tell you to get good when you lose, and leave mid match when you're gonna win.
Striker is too much of a coward to directly talk to me about things he doesn't like, he just silently distanced himself, and talked behind my back, devaluing all I do and achieve, pretending I don't exist. That's pretty much.
Sounds like just the usual "competitive" multiplayer community exploit meta bs, everyone trying to find some bug or balance issue they can cheese the hell out of, then accusing the other side of being the ones cheesing. AC6 has more cheesable content being a FS game though so maybe it's more prominent because of that? idk as aside from mmos I don't really get social with people I play with anymore
Laser dagger on my melee build has gotten me obsurd hate mail. I stagger into laser dagger, assault armor their pulse armor after 2 swipes so they are restaggered, just to get another full 3 hits of dagger cause of the fast cooldownXD

Melee Cancels are the reason I play melee more than the weapons themselves. With some good EN pool, good QB efficiency core and good melee EN + Speed boosters you become so fast.

Most weapons in the game are good against melee due to animation stun, the fact that I can't move when I'm doing melee. Weapons like slow missiles benefit from this because they catch up and hit me against my will.

My AC's strength is (supposed to be) air superiority but the height cap on some of the maps is so low that some guy with an all out tank, miniguns, and earshots can still get in my face, even though I've dealt an amount of damage that would have staggered 95% of all other ACs... Kinda mind boggling to me but I'm trying to find the work around!
dumb question but, do you have any tips for switching to the pile bunker? After i do the pulse blade -> harris combo, i can't switch to the pilebunker fast enough, the ennemi ac dashes out at last second. Is this just a skill issue or is there something i am missing?
You can combine directional keys/movements depending on your input system. Instead of going forward with your QB, hold to the side and QB so instead of going under them, you climb to them from the side.
Can you do a demonstration of how tackle tank builds with melee taking down Volta from the attack the dam complex mission where you have to take both Iguazu and Volta? Iguazu is normally a push over with melee... but Volta is an absolute nightmare on approach
@@CodenameMood I'm using a lightweight dual melee build (Laser lance + Pile Bunker) with a Majestic on my right arm and BML-G2 P03MLT-06 on my right shoulder. Iguazu is easy, catch him with a charged Laser Lance, Majestic for the Stagger and then eliminate with a Charged Pile Bunker. Problem's come in for the approach to Volta, he does a great job of shooting point blank into my face on the approach with my melee either with the Zimmy, Gou Chen, Birds, and then continuously chips with his split missiles. It's very difficult with my set up to get a good stagger set up to hammer on him with the Laser Lance to combo into the Charged Pile Bunker. maybe at least 7/8 approaches on the melee swing, I'll get stomped by Gou Chen, Zimmy, or the birds. Reason why I was hoping you would be able to do a video on what strategies to implement on a heavy tank build using a light weight AC.
@@Ghorda9 Plasma thrower with a Nachtreiher core and leg build seems like it would be a bad combination, especially against Cannon Head thanks to the stance stop, even with quick boosting out of it... I've beat the mission already. Had to swap out the 6 missile launcher for a 10 missile launcher and just harassed him to death from a far... but it would be awesome to see what strategies Mood uses against a similar build that would wreck a light weight in PvP
@@maniacallyhappy it's how i beat him, i used duel duckets with plasma thrower, all you need to do is stun him and immediately use a single strike from the plasma thrower. The key is that you don't need to get right in his face to hit him and it comes out fast enough.

I have a very similar build but swapping the pulse blade for the coral version. I also use different body parts. Not tried the ranked hopefully I do well like you have.
I've noticed a lot of quadlegs in ranked, it's rather disheartening going up against one as all they do is shoot missiles and hover. It's to the point were it doesn't feel worth trying to fight them cause almost immediately they're hovering at the very top of the map and firing missiles. Any ideas on what's the best way to counter them?
I’ve been trying the linear rifles lately. Their shots force a response out of hovering quad legs, shortening their airtime. The slow homing missiles are ideal for anti-air, as well. I have also seen one mad lad take a jamming grenade and plasma rifle and manual aiming. That’s a build that requires a lot of brainpower, but it seems really cool.
Ive tried this set up recently. A lot of fun but it has definitely made me realize that perhaps i have been relying a little too much on dual Vientos. So in a way, im glad im getting demoted, as i feel my rank was un deserved. Though i gotta ask, cause its hard to tell in the video, are you using Alula or Kikaku boosters?
Ngl that lag looks god awful. I wouldnt have bet on half of those blades hitting just from what i saw. Real clutch skills to keep calm and win when under 200 ap lol.
I actually find hitting targets easier under heavy lag while dodging seems to be easier under light lag. I think the game might trust the shooting client more than the receiving client, or maybe I just notice hits that I make that shouldn't count more than I notice hits that I make that should count.
I'm currently trying out ur build. But I have trouble landing the pilebunker punish after stagger. When I dash forward to execute, the enemy either has already recovered or I have T-rex arms and screwed the air. Sadge
If you want to bunk easier in the air, use a zimmerman instead, makes it easier to reposition. Otherwise, try to keep your height the same as the enemy AC's and after you land the shot, quickboost into pilebunker charge instantly, should land unless they are too far away.
Nothing lazy about getting in close and taking those players to Pound town! That takes some patience, and a pretty good understanding of the games mechanics, just saying. ❤
Does this count as meta, i use dual heavy pistols and dual gatling cannons on shoulder, the gatlings are for pressure and the pistols are for stun lock and damage, i time my shots carefully when the reticle is on target to get hits accurately. So far im rank B, I've hit my ups and downs but genuinely had fun so far aside from the metas. I'm mainly a fps player (mostly gritty shooters and only 1 competitive). i genuinely hate meta, I wanna have fun and win but fairly.

you switch to pile before you shot the charged harris, then you dash straight while charging pile. practice really mattered here, even i whiffs a lot with pile in real fight

My AC's strength is (supposed to be) air superiority but the height cap on some of the maps is so low that some guy with an all out tank, miniguns, and earshots can still get in my face, even though I've dealt an amount of damage that would have staggered 95% of all other ACs... Kinda mind boggling to me but I'm trying to find the work around!

dumb question but, do you have any tips for switching to the pile bunker? After i do the pulse blade -> harris combo, i can't switch to the pilebunker fast enough, the ennemi ac dashes out at last second. Is this just a skill issue or is there something i am missing?
Switch after you hit the blade just before the harris shot

You can combine directional keys/movements depending on your input system. Instead of going forward with your QB, hold to the side and QB so instead of going under them, you climb to them from the side.

Can you do a demonstration of how tackle tank builds with melee taking down Volta from the attack the dam complex mission where you have to take both Iguazu and Volta? Iguazu is normally a push over with melee... but Volta is an absolute nightmare on approach
In and out. Land melee, disengage while they are staggered, and repeat. Volta will devour you if you sit near.
@@CodenameMood I'm using a lightweight dual melee build (Laser lance + Pile Bunker) with a Majestic on my right arm and BML-G2 P03MLT-06 on my right shoulder. Iguazu is easy, catch him with a charged Laser Lance, Majestic for the Stagger and then eliminate with a Charged Pile Bunker. Problem's come in for the approach to Volta, he does a great job of shooting point blank into my face on the approach with my melee either with the Zimmy, Gou Chen, Birds, and then continuously chips with his split missiles. It's very difficult with my set up to get a good stagger set up to hammer on him with the Laser Lance to combo into the Charged Pile Bunker. maybe at least 7/8 approaches on the melee swing, I'll get stomped by Gou Chen, Zimmy, or the birds. Reason why I was hoping you would be able to do a video on what strategies to implement on a heavy tank build using a light weight AC.

@@Ghorda9 Plasma thrower with a Nachtreiher core and leg build seems like it would be a bad combination, especially against Cannon Head thanks to the stance stop, even with quick boosting out of it... I've beat the mission already. Had to swap out the 6 missile launcher for a 10 missile launcher and just harassed him to death from a far... but it would be awesome to see what strategies Mood uses against a similar build that would wreck a light weight in PvP
@@maniacallyhappy it's how i beat him, i used duel duckets with plasma thrower, all you need to do is stun him and immediately use a single strike from the plasma thrower. The key is that you don't need to get right in his face to hit him and it comes out fast enough.

If you charge melee, you can quick boost to retain the momentum due to active jet time, then you charge instantly right away and keep flying.

I have a very similar build but swapping the pulse blade for the coral version. I also use different body parts. Not tried the ranked hopefully I do well like you have.

I've noticed a lot of quadlegs in ranked, it's rather disheartening going up against one as all they do is shoot missiles and hover. It's to the point were it doesn't feel worth trying to fight them cause almost immediately they're hovering at the very top of the map and firing missiles. Any ideas on what's the best way to counter them?
I use reverse joints so they are not safe up there
I’ve been trying the linear rifles lately. Their shots force a response out of hovering quad legs, shortening their airtime. The slow homing missiles are ideal for anti-air, as well.
I have also seen one mad lad take a jamming grenade and plasma rifle and manual aiming. That’s a build that requires a lot of brainpower, but it seems really cool.
I managed to wipe a missile floater with a quad gat lightweight just assault boosting up and melting him. The missiles weren't hard to dodge.
Ive tried this set up recently. A lot of fun but it has definitely made me realize that perhaps i have been relying a little too much on dual Vientos. So in a way, im glad im getting demoted, as i feel my rank was un deserved. Though i gotta ask, cause its hard to tell in the video, are you using Alula or Kikaku boosters?
Both have their use. Alula for sharper movement, Kikaku for catching runners. Glad to have you on the bright side.

Ngl that lag looks god awful. I wouldnt have bet on half of those blades hitting just from what i saw. Real clutch skills to keep calm and win when under 200 ap lol.
I actually find hitting targets easier under heavy lag while dodging seems to be easier under light lag. I think the game might trust the shooting client more than the receiving client, or maybe I just notice hits that I make that shouldn't count more than I notice hits that I make that should count.
I'm currently trying out ur build. But I have trouble landing the pilebunker punish after stagger. When I dash forward to execute, the enemy either has already recovered or I have T-rex arms and screwed the air. Sadge
If you want to bunk easier in the air, use a zimmerman instead, makes it easier to reposition. Otherwise, try to keep your height the same as the enemy AC's and after you land the shot, quickboost into pilebunker charge instantly, should land unless they are too far away.

Does this count as meta, i use dual heavy pistols and dual gatling cannons on shoulder, the gatlings are for pressure and the pistols are for stun lock and damage, i time my shots carefully when the reticle is on target to get hits accurately. So far im rank B, I've hit my ups and downs but genuinely had fun so far aside from the metas.
I'm mainly a fps player (mostly gritty shooters and only 1 competitive).
i genuinely hate meta, I wanna have fun and win but fairly.

you switch to pile before you shot the charged harris, then you dash straight while charging pile. practice really mattered here, even i whiffs a lot with pile in real fight
