A look at fine scale O gauge
We present a look at a Santa Fe Railroad SFRD Reefer Train being handled by double header 2-8-2 class Mikado locomotives of the AT&SF railway. Both models were custom built and rebuilt completely based on a Max Gray from the 1960’s and a Sofue from the 1990’s. The custom builder scratch built the cabs and the boiler casing. Detailing was exactly to a photo taken in 1953 near Raton, New Mexico with a 65 car reefer train in tow. The white painted driving rods represent recent shopping to indicate cracks in the rods on 3192. Both models have full ball bearing drives with Falhauber coreless motors. In this presentation I ran a truncated consist of only 23 cars. These trains were known to run upwards of 100 cars.
