I wonder if it would change if the question was "which ink do you use the most"?
Utlility vs art 😂😊
I would think so!
Diamond blue velvet one of my favorite blue ink.
Yes. This is my favorite blue ink too. And sailor ink studio 440 is next for blue. But Blue Velvet is such a great name bcs it feels velvety smooth coming out the nib!
As for the list, I do have Aurora Black. It is a lovely, well consistent ink. I also have Diamine Oxblood but have been using Diamine Crimson more frequently of late. I am shocked Robert Oster's Thunderstorm did not get a mention.
My favourite ink at the moment is Schneider Pastel Rose.
Super cheap, a gorgeous shade of purpleish red, flows well and makes a nice understated choice for my daily writing.
Thanks. Surprised not to see Waterman Serenity Blue there?
Very interesting and fun to watch. Surprised and disappointed to see no Sailor inks.
My top 10 favorites (in random order):
Sailor Souboku
Sailor Shikiori Yama Dori
Sailor Shikiori Tokiwa-Matsu
Sailor Manyo Ume
Sailor Ink Studio 752
Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo
Aurora Sepia
Platinum Chou Kuro
Visconti Blue
Montegrappa Bordeaux
Diamine Dark Forest
I wasn't voting! So, don't blame me!!
I would have voted for Van Dieman’s Prickly Pear!
These top 10 favorite ink videos are entertaining. My top 10 are...
Aurora black
Iroshizuku yama-guri
Diamine orange
Blood red, combo of diamine matador, oxblood & red dragon
Kwz honey
Edelstein tanzanite
Parker penman sapphire
Parker penman emerald
Montblanc moctezuma pierced sky
Lamy dark lilac 2016
And one honorable mention for burgundy, montblanc Antoine de saint expury.
Diamine orange 👏🎉
Great content. Thank you.
Echoing another post: *_We would appreciate publishing the notes/numbers if possible._*
Thanks again, mate
Unfortunately I don't have the numbers on me, but I have added the top 25 list to the video description.
I'm in the Sailor ink camp, too - I'm surprised at their absence! Shading stars, in my book. #123, Nadeshiko, #970, etc. Also Oster Honey Bee, Herbin Larmes de Cassis. Too many to list - thanks, Mick for this study! (And I'll check out Michael Lew's as a big Platypus fan!)
That was an excellent idea and video Michael, well done on it.
Herbin in Caco du Brésil I’d my favourite as well as Diamine Earl Grey
Great video! Wasn’t surprised to see Kon-Peki, Iam Budo and Carbon black in the top 3. They’re all great. I was disappointed not to see Waterman Serenity Blue or Pelikan 4001 Konigsblau there.
Yeah, they are 3 pretty stand out inks. Serenity Blue was in the top 25, but Pelikan's 4001 inks were not well represented... even if they are decent every day inks.
great video, thanks for sharing
Very interesting outcome! Yama Budo is a perennial favorite of mine, but I’m very surprised that a “non-blue” ink was #1. Also surprised that Waterman Serenity Blue did not show up on the list, nor any Herbin or Sailor inks. I’ve steered away from Kon-Peki because it seems a little pedestrian, but maybe I’ll try it out :-) Thanks again for another great video!
I am not a blue ink person, so lots of those inks will be on my list.
deff prefer darker inks and reds/browns, so personally alot of the blue's and vibrant colors arent' my jam to my dismay..
Same monaco red
My three favourites; Diamine Crimson, Robert Oster Motor oil and Iroshizuku Asa-gao
Great video!
Would you please publish the entire list?
As a bit of a stats freak, I too would appreciate the notes and numbers 🤓
I don't have the exact vote numbers on me... but I have put the top 25 ranked in the video description.
@@theoffstagemeThanks!
my current fav ink is Diamine midnight blue: just a lovely, dry, blue/black w copper sheen: love inks by Diamine, Montblanc and GvFC as they make dry inks which don’t spread out and work well on my preferred writing surface which is my traveler’s notebook with light weight Midori paper:); kon peki is turquoise, honestly, are you blind?: this is not under any circumstances any kind of blue ever, yama budo sucks also: it’s magenta, basically dark pink - whoever voted in this is blind; Waterman serenity blue utterly rocks; didn’t notice any presence of Colorverse inks which is a big mistake imho:)
I am surprised there's no Sailor or Lamy! Anyway, Diamine inks are the ones I have more bottles here, they combine good performance and price, they really deserve a lot of mentions.
Fun video, thanks. It reinforces my belief that Diamine is dominant, and Noodler's is on the decline. Speaking of which, they make the only ink that stands out as special to my eye, Baystate Blue. Pretty much every other ink you can find a near equivalent by another brand. Feel free to correct me with what you feel is special, cause what the heck do I know?
Great video. I'm with you: one of my inks is Monaco Red!
Mick, great video! It is very interesting following these trends. I am a ink sampler kind of guy so I have tried a bunch (just can't pick a top 3 as I like most of them ). Just recently picked up the Kon-Peki and the Yama-Budo. I really like the Kon-Peki, not so sure about the Yama-Budo but I have not inked a pen with it yet. What I do like about the Pilot Iroshizuku inks is that they do perform well in a variety of pens with no issues. Surprised the J. Herbin Emerald de Chivoir did not make the list this year, although the shimmer flakes may turn some people off, I have it in some fine nibs with no problems so far.
My three would be....Ancient Copper, Carbon Black and Sailor Studio 370. With a honorable mention to Lamy Turquoise! Rachelle in Seattle
Great Video. Really interesting. Can you publish the top 20 list? A lot of my faves were mentioned. Oxblood, Oxford Blue, Aurora Borealis, Kon Peki and Yama Budo. I've been using Tranquility a lot recently so I've not inked up Fire & Ice in a year or so. I'll have to give it another go. I'm really surprised that Shin Kai wasn't higher on the list and that there wasn't a greater presence from Jaques Herbin. Likewise Lamy's LE inks like the OG Dark Lilac (2016) and Petrol.
For me, I really love Noodlers Heart of darkness. Its water resistant, easy to clean and blacl black black.
Noodlers Heart of Darkness is my favorite black ink!
great video!
