    What? She admitted to bullying him in school for constantly calling him corny. Even if she backpedaled years later saying there’s nothing wrong, it doesn’t negate what happened? I think it’s cool he called it out and kept going. It’s nothing cringe about that when we as women do that all the time. Double standard.

He was not rude, didn’t call her out her name in ANY way, and didn’t belittle her. She openly admitted that she used to tease him/make fun of him in high school. Then, in this interview, that was supposed to be about HIS movie she’s the one who tried flexing that they went to high school together first , as if they were friends and making stuffs about HER not his movie . The hypocrisy. MBJ , called her out simply shows that he didn’t want to play this game with her . Dee made valid points about being corny is not necessarily bad , guys becoming so sensitive and emotional about them being called corny is cringe and acting like it’s a revenge when they’re successful in life is cringe etc . However, this doesn’t really apply in this case imo . If MBJ was the one reminding her being called corny and the interviewer would’ve asked him questions professionally without mentioning high school , then I would’ve agree .

      Same here. I dealt with this as a youngin. I was always attractive and way more talented than any of the other black kids in my high school. I just didn’t fit the “thug archetype”. I was in band, the debate club, and all the things black women found to be “corny”… plus I was never that tall. I’m now 32 and I’m only 5’7” but my life turned out amazing, I have a beautiful family, I am a successful business owner and I make over 200K a year. But THIS is why I never dealt with black women, because they hate genuine, intelligent, men of substance and purpose outside of fame and status. But they worship ignorant mindless, uneducated soulless thugs with tattoos and 12 baby mamas. All for superficial reasons, like being a gang banger, having a 20 inch dick or being 9 feet tall. This is why I’ve never given those type of women the time of day. They chase me now because they see the money and success but I have never taken interest in women who find a man with purpose to be “corny”. B*tch how about your 7 kids to 5 different jailbirds is what I call “corny”.

    "The Girl Next door" as a phrase doesn't have a negative connotation but we all know that corny has a very negative connotation. That's the difference. we cant pretend that it doesn't. Also, it was very apparent that the girl in the interview was trying to play like "they go way back" as in they were friends and Mikes was letting her know that it wasn't the case.

    • @nathanielb4985
      @nathanielb4985 Рік тому +9

      And it doesn’t mean basic looking at all. On google the definition of girl next door is “a person perceived as familiar, approachable, and dependable, typically in the context of a romantic partnership.”. Thats a positive connotation. Nobody said they’d have to be nerdy, that’s just what Dee associated with the word.

    • @babygirl4949
      @babygirl4949 Рік тому +1

      The phrase may not but I think what Dee is saying is that it’s opposite of what a lot of guys say they like. Like you aren’t going to be a lot of men’s first choice. I definitely got ghosted and a variation of other things bc I wasn’t having sex at a certain age or wasn’t doing a lot of things that other girls are doing. I stood on my morals so that meant I didnt go far with a lot of guys. I mean as soon as I said I’m a virgin at 17, it was the last time I talked to them. And they weren’t bad boys, they just wanted a really experienced girl. Mind you I wasn’t waiting for marriage or anything I just wasn’t experienced. But I had to take a look at myself and realize I am shy, timid, don’t have an hour glass figure, don’t wear super sexual clothes blah blah blah and that means my options are going to be fewer. I’ve grown into a woman now but I’m still not the baddie that a lot of men say they want. So that means my options are fewer. It is what it is.
      But I think the thing is as a woman I still get hit on and still get attention to some extent bc I am a woman. I think with men it’s expected for them to approach women or nothing is going to happen. So if you’re getting called corny a lot then that lowers your confidence so you’re not going to feel comfortable with hitting on women and if truly are corny then that will show and you prob will get rejected a lot. I think that’s the biggest difference. That even the ugliest and corniest women will have more options then the ugliest and corniest man. It’s not fair but hey so is a lot of things that women have to deal with that men don’t lol 🤷🏾‍♀️

I used to tell people the same thing, until I went through it and realize all of that is easier said than done literally. Michael B Jordan proves this because he still remembers it even though he is doing well for himself. This is how we are as humans. I also find it funny how people can say to these men that was call corny to let it go but when a rapper raps about it and getting revenge on a chick that ain't want him, he is praised. But what I do disagree with Dee and quite frankly, vehemently take offense to is this “get over it” garbage. As a 35 year old black man, I’ve become comfortable with being corny. But it’s obviously a different story when you’re in HIGH SCHOOL!!! People who have never been bullied, don’t understand the trauma that it can leave behind even as an adult. MBJ being bullied for being corny obviously was traumatizing for him so to say to “get over it” just shows a lack of understanding to be honest

    We gotta be real about something. It’s easy enough to say “let it go”, “move on”. It’s easy to say but imagine how much he and others must’ve been picked on. But he’s successful, and many are doing well. Plus, since we’re all adults here, telling the ones who got picked on to “move on” doesn’t fully resolve the situation, because the people who did the bullying need to mature, and in many cases, those same adults haven’t matured because in the black community, this same kind of mindset still persists about calling someone corny. Also yeah we shouldn’t stick around people who aren’t for us. But here again, that’s a simple solution to say, because what happens if/when those people prove they aren’t for us even if they stood by us at first? What then?

    • @Vergil14
