I have worked with Justin Baldoni for several seasons on Jane TheVirgin. My experience is that he was always kind, respectful and a strong advocate for women. I was shocked to hear there was drama connected to this film.
Loved you on Jane The Virgin. Excellent show. As a fan the few interviews had seen of Justin during that period, female cast mates had nothing but lovely things to say.

It's unsurprising that Blake feared committing to the original, darker script. She's been playing Serena van der Woodsen in different scenarios for nearly 20 years.

Totally, she feels above people and is extremely arrogant. It must be unbearable to work with her.
There was one interesting moment in all the articles about this-Blake dropped to an interviewer, “Oh by the way, no one knows this but Ryan wrote the rooftop scene.” (I guess this was an important scene, I don’t know the story.) That put my antennae up because it’s not super classy to claim credit for an uncredited writer, before the movie even comes out, who also happens to be your husband. It’s taking away from the screenwriter. So then People Magazine asked the actual screenwriter about it. She was very tactful and was like, “Oh, I saw that scene in the edit, there was a funny quip or two in there I thought was improvised, but maybe Ryan wrote that, how great.”
This is a personal pet peeve of mine, actors saying they basically wrote the script because either it was so bad or they’re so brilliant they can do both. I’m not saying actors don’t ever contribute, they obviously do sometimes, but it’s a drop in the bucket to creating a script from scratch. If they ever do bring that up it should be with respect and props given to the actual screenwriter, otherwise it’s just tacky.
I think Ryan wrote the scene during the writer's strike too. 🤔 not sure you could say it's like Drew Barrymore situation but feels like it. Skirting around the strike, skirting around the screenwriter because Ryan Reynolds is not technically known as a writer 😮

This situation started a few days ago with a rumor that he made her uncomfortable without explanation. Then it was claimed that he made her uncomfortable about her weight, and when that didn’t work, the rumors shifted to him kissing her too long. What honestly separates Blake from a "Karen" type of behavior? Personally, I don’t see her as particularly talented or beautiful as some make her out to be. At the very least, she could be more respectful and kind.

I love Ant’s readings but this one fell short for me. This is a situation where you need all the context to understand why people are so upset w Blake and why people are siding with Justin. The movie is about DV, which is why Justin bought the rights to the film because he wanted to spread awareness. The movie begins like a romcom in the first half and then the DV stuff only happens later. It sounds like Blake signed onto the movie without realizing that the main plot was about DV and then when it got to that point she panicked and wanted to pivot/make it less intense , especially if things started out good. If Justin started lashing out, I don’t blame him bc I would too if someone wanted to turn my DV movie into the Notebook. Especially, if like, the main plot is about DV why tf would you want to focus on anything else, all the other press should have been complimentary.
It’s one thing to have a flower-themed press but she has completely glossed over the DV part of the film and styled it like a romcom. That, on top of the bad interviews that have come up, chalking up her behavior to “being misguided” is honestly excusing a privileged grown woman who should know better, or at the very least understand where she went wrong. She’s not 13, and some of these interviews….oh boy does she act like it.

Not only was she not ready, she also didn't try or was afraid to try. I'm an avid reader, and I won't lie, Colleen Hoovers books are a guilty pleasure for me. When I reread It Ends With us I thought "man, how is Blake going to tackle this? Damn I forgot how brutally vivid these scenes were." When I watched the movie, I noticed that they cut out a few scenes from the book. Scenes that went above Lilly falling down the stairs. I think Blake wasn't ready to go there, yet. As a film actress, she I'd still finding her footing. She hasn't had her "Safe House" film like Ryan.
I'm not sure Blake's going to win overall. This is movie drama, and she's an actress. Who's going to want to work with her, when they can find an equally-talented, less problematic star instead? This looks like a shot foot to me.

All I'm saying is that a movie about domestic violence should not be promoted as a romcom with flowers and "take your friends, wear your florals". There are movies for that type of promo, and there are movies that require a promo where they are constantly sharing resources to help people and where they are talking about the issue at hand and how we can help each other and prevent something as awful as domestic violence.

Colleen Hoover writes shallow problematic books that are marketed as romance when they should be erotica. Romance implies there is something wholesome to the relationship. I agree with all except the Colleen Hoover books. Romance is never meant to be "wholesome" such as Phantom of the Opera. It's not wholesome at all. Neither is Romeo and Juliet. I don't like Colleen Hoover books as she doesn't know how to write character development. That's my issue with her. As a newly awakened psychic, I’d like to say even if Justin is not completely innocent, I felt a little bit more of his energy with his cards. the Knight of wands I’m getting is warm hearted and passion. Passion can mean anger for sure, however it makes sense why he got angry. he put so much time into this film as a director, producer who bought the rights to it five years ago. Could he have handled this better, yes I can see that also.

His second book is Boys Will Be Human, A general gut-check guide to becoming the strongest, kindest, bravest person you can be. He wrote it for his son and for all the boys out there becoming men. he has a podcast called Man Enough, like a continuous conversation of his book Man Enough.

Blake is a nepo baby silver spoon kid….she has the attitude of such. I honestly would have preferred another actress for this role. I’m a survivor of domestic violence and these movies while triggering can also be cathartic as well if that makes sense. While watching the movie I did enjoy it but I couldn’t connect with her character which is odd because that’s the character I should connect with because I lived out this in real life and I don’t think Blake has emotional connection to play this part. I wonder if she spoke with DV survivors to prepare for the role. Or did any research regarding what a DV survivors reactions would be or things you struggle with emotionally. I think the movie was good but a different lead female i really think the movie would have made a better connection with the audience and the audience for this movie is going to be DV survivors.

I don’t think any other actress would have nailed that role like her, she was everything in that movie!!! But this movie, Justin had more passion for the topic and conversation of Domestic Violence being the focal point and Blake is kind of non compassionate about that aspect of the film and it kind of shows in her acting. She could not tap into the role and I can tell because she is a good actress. Jennifer Lopez played a great DV survivor in “Enough” and I think it’s because she passionate about the subject.

I loved this movie and thought Blake was excellent in it, I dont know much about her but she's not coming off very well in this. She's spent more time focused on her character in interviews than the theme of the movie, DV.

Okay first part of the explanation is just what happened during competition. Theres’s more that’s happened after, obviously:
So there are three artistic gymnasts involved: Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Voinea (both Romanian,) and Jordan Chiles (USA.) During the Olympic floor finals, Jordan originally received a 13.666. Both Romanians scored 13.7, so Jordan was behind them by less than half a point. Team USA immediately submitted an inquiry, arguing that the judges neglected to credit her for a skill that was worth 0.1 of a point. She was granted the increase, because the judges *did* miss that skill, so her actual score ended up being a 13.766, giving her a bronze medal over the two Romanian gymnasts. One problem is that they had already announced Ana Barbosu as the bronze medalist, so Ana was left in tears and publicly humiliated after the score was changed. Additionally, Sabrina was given a deduction for going out of bounds…..but the video shows that she never went out of bounds. Her score would’ve been a 13.8 without that deduction. Her coach neglected to appeal that deduction, and nobody knows why. But she would have been above both Jordan and Ana and would have been the bronze medalist without that deduction…

So without getting into too much unfamiliar and complicated terminology for those who may be unfamiliar with this subject, the court Romania appealed to emailed THE WRONG US OFFICIALS, so the US didn’t have time to object, because the court didn’t send communication to the correct people until past the deadline to submit objections and less than 24 hours before the hearing. The court ruled in Romania’s favor partially…they denied Sabrina’s appeal due to it not being submitted in competition (to be fair, it should have been,) but they reduced Jordan’s score back to a 13.666 based on “official” timestamps of her appeal being submitted four seconds too late. This put Ana back into 3rd place and Jordan back in 5th.
The panel who did this and ruled in Romania’s favor has represented Romania in legal cases before this, so a definite conflict of interest. The athletes did nothing wrong, and the judges created an absolute mess that is still going on.
ALSO ROMANIA AND THE USA AGREED TO SHARE THE BRONZE, but the IOC (Olympic committee) said no, so they stripped Jordan of her medal and ordered her to send it back. The US appealed the decision, and the appeal was denied. They are now pursuing a tribunal to fight this further, because they are alleging that after their own research (they clearly didn’t have time to do this research BEFORE the case due to the massive court fuck up,) they concluded that the appeal was submitted 13 seconds BEFORE the deadline.

How our "heros" treat people is extremely important. I really didnt like hearing about being a fan and liking her when there is a lot of evidence that she mistreats people. Thats not okay. We all need to sit back and truly question the people we're supporting. Yes, from the limited information I’ve seen on Instagram, it seems like it comes down to this: Everyone’s ego is involved. Justin is overextending himself by both starring in and directing the project. He had his own vision, while Blake and Ryan are executive producing and rewriting scenes to fit her own vision, allegedly. She likely saw this project as her opportunity to, like her husband, become a business mogul and feed her own ego. They’re all doing too much.
