To anyone that’s planning on visiting, try to avoid driving on highway 163, which is the road that leads here, after dark. In the 2 nights I was there we came across 2 drunk driving accidents, 1 of which was pretty bad. We talked to a local at the scene who said that it’s a problem there and that her sister had been killed just a few weeks prior. Don’t take this as me saying you should not visit, cause it is a must see place that I will return to. You should be fine driving in the day time, just be aware and careful at night especially on weekends.
Thank you so much for the information.
Navajo nation
This is why I love Utah, every square mile has something unique to offer.
Um .. You mean Arizona. Thank you.
@@Ernie812 oops, do I feel silly.
Monument Valley is located on the Arizona side. However, you can view it coming from the Utah side is where people take most pictures that shows a straight highway pointing to Monument Valley. On the Utah side, there's a BLM called Valley of Gods which is worth the visit as well. Also check out the Mexican Hat on the Utah side.
@@peterkim1999 when we have the Utah - Arizona war, we'll take it over. 😂
beautiful ..and to think it was all carved out of ice and water ..one of the most beautiful places on earth
Result of stubborn sandstone that refused to erode while the rest of the earth around it eroded. It's why we have those really unique shapes, the water and ice also helped carve out some of the distinctive monuments.
This video with your Dad is very inspiring. Now I wanna stay in the monument valley hotel , drive the scenic loop, watch the sunset and sunrise.
Truly beautiful! What a great experience that you’re sharing with your dad, memories you’ll forever cherish. Cheers!
It's been about 30 years since I visited the National Parks in Colorado and Utah. After watching your videos, I think it's time to go back for another visit. Thanks Josh for your great videos.
I am watching your video from Germany and it's my biggest dream to get there some day! I am crying over the view because it's so irreal! Thank u for the video
The memories of such breathtaking views and the vibes will have you wanting to visit it again and again...

WOW, what a treat 2 videos in one day!
This is going on my list!!
Love your videos. It’s so nice that you can experience places with your dad.
Monument valley is one of those magical places in the world that you have to be there to really soak it in. It’s just such a spiritual place and by being there it’s like you can feel the energy in the history of the people that have lived there for thousands of years. One of my favorite places in the world.
Next time make sure you get some fry bread. Such a simple food, yet it’s just so darn good.
Absolutely stunning and thank you for sharing. This is definitely on my bucket list 😎
I think it is awesome that you travel with your pop!
I love your videos and I'm so excited you posted this today because I'm planning on going to Monument Valley in 2 weeks! I can't wait!! Thank you for all of your videos!
Your videos are always inspiring and relaxing to watch! Also appreciate the info you provide and your photographer’s eye.
I appreciate that! Thank you
We’ve been there twice. The second time we did the jeep tour with a Navajo guide. He took us around to a few great places and then we stopped in a round natural room where we laid back closed our eyes while he sang a sacred song. Do this next time!
My husband and I just did that too. Loved the experience. We also made a stop where a lady was making authentic foods.
What company/tour did you use?? Do you recommend the tour better?? I can’t decide
Though I was in Monument Valley for a short time, the sights at sunset were those to truly marvel at. It felt like riding on into the sunset
@Randy Paul truly
Agreed, it was so incredible at sunset!
You would make a great tour guide.
Your presentation, information, and demeanor are absolutely perfect.
Thank you for another super, well researched, personalized video.👏👏
My wife and I were driving from Flagstaff to Colorado and made an unplanned stop there. Was one of the highlights of our trip!
Went in September. Loved it. Stayed at The View. It was absolutely beautiful.
We RVed at Goulding's years ago, and took the Tribe run tour. It was very informative, I highly recommend it.
What a great video! I was there in 2008 and it was sweet to see those views again. Thanks!
We were there a few days ago and everything was fogged in, so your video is so appreciated! Thank you!
My wife & I have enjoyed Josh's videos. Found Throughmylense last October and began planning our Utah trip. Pop's hike up to Delicate Arch encouraged her to try it as she gets a bit of vertigo on steep narrow trails and usually turns back. Happy to report she made it without issue.
I'll be filming my hike there in two weeks. Cant wait! Its a huge bucket list check. Your video has added to my excitement!
It's now on my bucket list. Thanks!
Make it happen. It’s so worth it.
Amazing very unique and Beautiful place and amazing photography
I grew up about an hour south. This is a beautiful video.
Wow. Such an amazing landscape
Outstanding! I love this trip that I just took with you! It's amazing!
Great video! We did the sunset guided tour in September and thought it was spectacular. We had rain so we didn't have all the dust from the road but we had to be careful with the cameras during the worst of the showers. I always look forward to your videos, keep up the good work.
Thanks for video, there is nothing to explore except few rocks & dry land.
It saves my trip. Thank you for uploading video
Wow. Like your dad, We too love westerns. Monument valley would have seen many star actors.
John Ford, director of many John Wayne movies.
Other westerns have been filmed there of course. One memorable film was a comedy western entitled, "The Villian". It statted, Kirk Douglas.
Thank you so much for the time that you put into producing such beautiful episode.
Thank you again & kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia.
I'm so excited to go in June, hopefully we won't be in line long. So much to see and do!!
the wife and I were there about 6 years ago, we stayed at the hotel just outside the park, we got to hear one of the last code talkers. it was a wonderful experience, there was no time limit then. things have changed...
Was just there 2.5 weeks ago! Magnificent place.
So awesome! Glad you got to see it
Monument Valley is epic. Been there twice. It seems they changed the road. At least the first part seemed different than some years ago. You showed some views I did not know and there seemed to be gravel on the road.
Great videos enjoying it on this beautiful Sunday!! Thanks
Thanks for watching them!
Breathtaking!
Superb video, thanks for that. It's absolutely on my bucket list to do. However Florida is next for us (and yes your video was helpful too 😀) Russ from the UK 🇬🇧
Great place to visit. All the best from Scotland.
We have been to Monument Valley Twice and both times we stayed at the View. We took a guided to through the valley. They would show Movies on the wall at the Hotel that were made in Monument Valley
I pass thru frequently but im going to visit and experience the ride thru to experience those ancient giant trees. 😎
Thanks for posting this beautiful video.
Enjoyed your video. We visited Monument Valley several weeks ago and loved it.
Beautiful, amazing, interesting, fantastic. Thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful !!!
This was an excellent video but the ending, you killed it with your phenomenal photography skills. Wow!
Really appreciate the kind words!
thanks for sharing what a great experience you both had 10/10
Hey Jeff and Josh.... Another great video and commentary....The Wife and I went there a few years back and the Navaho with the horse was there and let my Wife get on his horse for pictures that I took from the next bluff...A real keeper photo....Anyway...keep up the great work....From Hank and Pam from South Texas...
Nicely done! I love it.
Great video! In relation to the Navajo code talkers, there’s a Burger King in Kayenta about 30 minutes south of here that has an excellent exhibit with a lot of American and Japanese ww2 artifacts. They have things like mortar shells, grenades, and regimental flags on display. It’s really well done, and yes it’s actually inside the Burger King.
Great overview. Looking forward to going to see this place soon. Planned on our road trip this summer.
Dang! I was just there yesterday driving from Durango, CO to Sedona, AZ! Sadly, I didn't have time to do the full loop. It's an impressive view from the hotel and, like you, I'll just have to go back.
Such a fantastic video on Monument Valley! Yes, it is huge and amazing..early bird gets the jewels🏜️ You never disappoint🤗🐢
Glad you enjoyed it, it is such a special place
@@ThroughMyLens Yes it is! You brought it such beauty🤙
I didn't know you had another channel!! I first thought someone else copied your channel name! Thanks for all your videos! So helpful!
Awesome video as always. Thanks for sharing. I passed by a few times but never had a chance to tour the Monument valley. Last time I had to pass due to Covid closure. By the way I live near by you. I am in Murrieta and Temecula area.
Thanks for all these videos! We camped during the pandemic at the KOA camp there, I recommend it. But the loop road was closed, so sad, we’ve gotta go back, but your video is better than nothing. FYI, Left Mitten, was used in the Walt Disney World’s Soarin ride, many will recognize.
Bummer that it was closed when you went! Thanks for the tip about it being used in Soarin as well!
Very cool and thanks for sharing
This is very beautiful place to go
Beautiful country 🤠
Beautiful video and narration. We were fortunate when we took the tour a few years back and got a picture of the Cowboy on the horse at the tip of the landscape of John Ford Point. John Ford Point one of the many icons of Monument Valley. Did you get a chance to visit Gouldings right across the highway, great Western picturesque museum there..Thanks for bring back all the golden memories..of Monument Valley...
Thanks Josh, always wanted to visit here. Looking at a photo of elephant butte on Alamy and it does look like an elephant from the front. Check out elephant rock in the Franklin Mtns. El Paso, Tx. Fun formations. Thanks again, beautiful shots. Just added this site to my must-see.
AWESOME Video here, thanks so much for sharing and yeah, like ya say, gotta be there to experience the REAL natural beauty of the place, although this video serves to anticipate ya into that IRIE feeling!👍and greetings👋from central Mexico for Pops and you! 🤠
Thanks for watching! I agree, the video could never do justice to what it is like to experience yourself
Love your videos. I’m from Texas and although I know your dad doesn’t love heights I’d love to see a video of Guadalupe Point. It’s on my bucket list
Really awesome, thanks for sharing. Glad to see the shots of other "larger" vehicles on this loop.
Really glad to see this open again and people able to visit, might on my list sooner than other places.
Curious if a Class C would be ok or if there isn't sufficient space for parking?
Another fantastic video. Thanks
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
Thanks for that, great commentary
very peaceful video
Awesome 🙌
No words can truly capture the beauty of Arizona... Specially Sedona you could say there are these huge red sandstone rocks everywhere jutting up from the desert and making everything else feel tiny by comparison.🌵😍
7:18 despite watching this part 5X, I still cannot see the hotel. Haha. They did a very good job blending it into the setting!
Perfect timing
I'm going there in September 😁
Hope you enjoy it!
@@ThroughMyLens I will. It's part of a road trip and I'm looking forward to it 😊
Thanks for the information
Groovy!
Love your videos!
Glad you like them!
So beautiful views and thank for showing around the monument valley 👍🤩😍
# Would you recommend where to stay when I visit Monument Valley ? Thanks
Pops and his white, cowboy hat 🤠 lol.
Went to Monument Valley last weekend and they are no longer limiting entrance to 25 cars. There were way more than 25 cars driving around. Glad we didn’t have to wait.
Injans needed more liquor money
Apt name for magnificent place 👍👏
Visited in 2016. I need to go again soon.
Awesome you have seen it! I can't wait to go back either
@@ThroughMyLens love your channel btw.
Thanks!
No problem! Thank you!
We booked a tour guide. I highly suggest it. Worth the money
the heart of America,
Great footage and narration. Headed out this spring to check this out. How was the wind and dust on the photo equipment? Should I leave my better camera(s) at home and take point and shoots?
Don't forget to check out Shiprock, NM!
2:20 Hay in from nsw n i was just thinking when this came up n i thought that there is 'no-way' that u could get lost out there as long as u have somethin like that in your sight's eh no matter how small it get's 'loved the show 'cheers.
5:20 I like pausing then for a few good second's n just staring at them n looting into every crack n craves. cool Bro.
I actually just got back from a trip to Moab, this was on the itinerary, but there were questions about Covid restrictions that we couldn't get cleared up, so it didn't happen.
I was there years ago with my friend Harry but we did not do the park drive even though Harry paid the $6 at that time. He all of sudden wanted to go elsewhere so we left. I'm glad to see your video. I thought I had seen a while back in another video an arch that was in the park. You did not see an arch?
Bird Springs is actually called Sand Springs due the natural spring water near the sand dunes...good vid!
At first I thought this was located in Colorado. I live in San Diego and this seems closer to me than I thought
I love that they limit the vehicles! This looks amazing. Always a pleasure watching your videos!
There is a lake in NM with a prominent rock formation that really does look like an elephant. It is called Elephant Butte.
I learned so much from this video! From the dirt road to the 25 car limit to actual private residences inside the park. That hotel view was breathtaking. Was the room expensive with it being so close? Thanks Josh!
There are no restrictions on the Scenic Drive
Never been yet to Monument Valley and then on my way to Arches NP. Getting too hot soon
Love from Morocco guys ❤🙌
Thanks for stopping by!
@@ThroughMyLens you're welcome my friend 👍 have a nice day bro ^-^
Stunning, thank you for sharing. Can you take a hired sedan there?
Great video! It is amazing! Who knows, maybe some day, I´ll have the chance to visit the valley. Congrats! P.S. What is the name of the hotel with the Monument Valley views? Thanks
I went to college in Flagstaff and kick myself for not making the short trip over there 20 years ago. Did you go see the Petrified Forest or the lava flows on the backside of the San Francisco Peaks while you were there? So much to see in Northern AZ.
I absolutely loved this place! If you drive out further Forest Gump’s iconic end of his run is also around here :) we used a navajo tour guide to get in the drive around and it was awesome. So much history and culture to learn!
