New subbie here!! I've just started aerial classes..I'm going one day a week for one and a half hour.. I'm wondering.. how often in the week & how many hours did you practice to get there?
Thanks for the sub! I practiced once a week at a studio class for an hour and 15 minutes and tried to go to the park once a week to practice on my own as well.
I have been watching other people perform Ariel silks for a while now. Its so beautiful, and touching in many ways. I have always looked at something and thought I could never do it. For example, I am not one for music. But one day I heard this beautiful violin and piano song, and now I want to learn them both. I listen to classical music almost every day now. Everytime I think about starting to go to classes, and learning more about different things, I think I can't do it. its either because I am poor, or don't have enough time which causes me to think I can't. Unlike most people, I have no passion or hobby. This video has inspired me to do the things I once thought were not possible for me to do. I am going to be 14 soon, and my childhood is almost over. I want to learn how to dance, play the piano, the violin, the flute, paint, draw, basketball, volleyball, and one that I have been wanting to learn for months which is the Ariel silks. in my family, if I don't want to have a birthday party I will get all the money it usually takes to host a party ($500). With the addition of having a allowance, past savings, and other gifts/gift cards it adds up to around $700. I have decided instead of buying a computer or a new phone, I will be paying for classes to learn these certain things. I know each one requires alto of time and practice. I plan to do each one at a time. send me your prayers, and I hope my mother allows my wish for what I want to do with my money. God bless you all, and I hope you may be as fortunate as I may be. (sorry if I spelled anything wrong, my phone has the smallest keyboard.😄)
I love this videos, I'm autodidact and I practice at home, every time I look for a video of a silk dancer most of the time the level is too high or the girls are way more flexible than me, I found easier to learn from other learner, thank you¡¡
Thank you for sharing! I have been learning aerial silk for a year and we have a show tonight. Your video reminded me how beautiful it really is and helped calm my jitters. Thank you! I'm looking forward to sharing this video in our art class and learning some of these tricks I don't yet know!
thats weird, its like a collection of a few of my favorite tricks! nice job:) i also love the guy with the dog casually walking around in the background xD
I’ve been practicing for about a month and a half. I have my own silks and I take classes with professionals once a week. I’m glad to say I knew most of the things you did, even if I didn’t know how to do some personally. Btw nice job on the hocks drop! That one scares me a bit because my silks are only 9 feet tall and my head is close to the Matt.
:) :) :) That's so sweet of you to say! I hope that your show went well! Aerial silks is such a beautiful art form, I am just trying to do it a little justice but I know that I have a lot to learn!
Wow inspiration. I was told to look up aerial silks to see wht it was about. Awesome and amazing job. Its soo pretty to watch. Hope that one day I could be doing this also.
Awesome video! You are doing so well, congrats! Looks like you are really enjoying it too :-) I've been taking classes for 5 months now and recognise many of these moves. You have inspired me! I can't wait to make my own video showing what I've learned. Thanks for sharing!
You get friends together and have 10X your weight hang on it. If it doesn't break then, it won't break when you do a drop. This info was given to me by a professional aerial rigger.
Rigging in a tree is always dangerous. It is true that if you can get a HUGE weight to test it out then it probably won't break in a drop, but you're better off going to a studio to do open gym or getting your own standing rig
I also rig from a tree and my apartment stairs, I used to have a tire swing when I was a kid and we never had problems with it breaking so hopefully I’ll have the same luck with silks. I want to take a class but there are none right now with all this going on :/ I can’t wait to learn some of these tricks!!
To everyone saying "Oh my gosh that looks so cool but I could never do it, I'm too: fill in the blank" If you take lessons you get more graceful, strong, flexible, etc over time. Nobody (or almost nobody) is born with skills like hers. She achieved them through practice and hard work and devotion. When I started I did sort of ironically because I never thought that I would be able to improve; I was too clumsy. Alas, three years later here I am doing shows and gigs. Anything is possible when you put in time and devotion and practice. :)
Omg u r amazing don't let some hate comments put u down. U r sooooo good. Now that I have seen this I think I will start aerial classes, thank u for inspiring me!
I love how people will freak out about the Foabala. Been training for almost 2 years. I love Aerial so much. Your skills look sharp, nice job! I am doing a solo and duet for a HOF MMA fight. I'm doing lots of drops and I need lots of practice with my 360 drop. LOL. I practice every day and its so tiring. LOL. Wish me luck, going all the way to Miami to do it. LOL Oh, and nice Star Drop to Crossback Strattel thinggy. Forgot what it was called LOL. My friend is getting a new fabric soon so we can preform in Miami. I am nervous, I know i shouldn't be thought. But thousands of people will be there LOL.
Melissa Blackburn I'm going to start next year too hope fully on my birthday I really hope I become as good as her too and since your comment was a year ago I hope your doing well!
Thanks Ms. Doucet! I don't know what those words meant, but I'm sure once I get the supplies I need I'll understand. Lately my instructor has been kicking me out after an hour of class (too many students) so I need more time to practice by myself. Thanks for the input!
my daughter is nine and is amazed on how y'all do this she has a rope hanging outside she climbs on and scares the heck out of me with all the tricks she does on it.
This is such a beautiful art . I have begun to learn this. Just a question, is there anyway you can do a video mimicking these moves like a little slower and more detailed of how your wrapping the silk around? I hope it's not too much to ask but if it is I understand it's okay. Beautiful art great-looking doing it and thank you for posting.
The tree is taller than it appears and there was more room there than you think. However, I do agree that this tree is a little too short for drops. I don't do many drops from this tree anymore. There is a taller tree at another park that I prefer to practice at but this one is closer to home. I appreciate your concern!
Ahhhhhh all these people taking aeriel silk classes aren't pointing their toes!! You point with your ankle and foot, if your foot is flexed but toes are curled, that's not pointed. It should be a straight line :)
Love your energy and strength:) Great job----the flowing or transitions come later---but not much later---you'll be surprised once you start improving to music---as you will flow and connect your already amazing technique quickly:) KEEP GOING!!!
Great job, you’re really good! For the move you did at 1:51, i like to keep the fabric closer to my hips. You can do that by keeping your legs straight. I feel it looks better that way than if you let it ride up to your knees. But in some routines, the way you did it can look excellent.
Liza OG Thank you for your kind comment! That move was still new to me then and it always slipped off my hips. I haven’t really worked on it in a while, but I always struggled holding that arched back pose with the fabric deep in the creases of my hips before the drop. I think lack of flexibility held me back. I’m currently pregnant so I’m not practicing at the moment. It’s definitely something to work on when I get back to it.
I found your video on facebook and it is tagged as being from Lakeland Fl. My daughter is wanting to learn more about working with silks. We are also in Lakeland. Can you please tell me where you went to and do they teach children? I am serious about asking you can see what my daughter does on our channel if you have any doubts.
Hi, I was wondering how you hang your silk on the tree? Could you tell what you used and maybe show me a picture of how it looks. Thanks. Amazing job by the way
Pretty cool for less than a year. Two bad habits I see that you need to work on. First, point your toes, always and forever. Unless you are doing a bungee, its a safety thing. Second, v-ups should always be done with straight legs. Its much prettier. Plus it shows your strength. My girl has been doing this for 3 years, she started at age 9 1/2, we only go maybe twice a week. Because of the long drive. Check out her youpage, you can see the progress she has made. Alyssa Scyphers shes not prefect by far but has made a big difference between 3 years ago until now. Good luck and we hope to see you at auditions in the future. ;) That Mom in Florida, Lenora
Hi I’m sorry I just found this vid I’m doing Ariel silks I just had my first class when is it safe to rig and how do I rig it I’m thinking of putting it in my basement but since it’s short I’m thinking of shortening the Ariel silks what do you think
Its a public park and tree, how did you get up there to attach the rigging? I never thought of doing this at a park, my trees are too short. Thanks for your answer, Im just starting out. For only 8 months you seem like a pro!
Tiya Yempati No you do not have to be flexible. I am not very flexible at all. Although flexibility makes moves look better, most everything can still be done and if not there is a modification for it. You should try it out!!
Tiya Yempati you definitely don't have to be flexible, just need a little upper body strength in your arms and core. I wasn't flexible and didn't have much strength when I first started but after about 3-4 classes you start gaining all of it! It'll come to you
Nope I do dance as in ballet contempary lyrical hip hop and I did tap for two days but I didnt like bc I was ahead even though I NVR did it I was doing peiroettes in them lol not rly bc me teacher said I was gonna fall but I diddnt which I'm glad ..... Little Anime I bought it a long time ago so I am unsure if the fabric is exactly the same as what they are selling now, but you can do drops on it regardless. Although I recommend learning all drops from a qualified professional and I do not recommend rigging from trees for drops at all. I filmed this a while back and have learned so much since then. Raw Reiki i do the same time and days, h5. I guess it depends on how strong and flexible you are
Thanks for the sub! I practiced once a week at a studio class for an hour and 15 minutes and tried to go to the park once a week to practice on my own as well.
Thank you for answering me! Wishing you to learn fast and get greater!
That’s what I’m doing! Technically it’s for 1 hour but we come 15 minutes early and leave 15 minutes late
Sarah Clayton do you have to be flexible to start

I’ve been taking aerial for a year and you are doing so much better than I am. I love it though. Its good to go at your own pace.
I love this videos, I'm autodidact and I practice at home, every time I look for a video of a silk dancer most of the time the level is too high or the girls are way more flexible than me, I found easier to learn from other learner, thank you¡¡

I had been taking classes and enjoy it tremendeously! I learn from you, thnx.
Extremely impressive! I love how you move so well with the music.
This is AWESOME. These moves look great!!
I'm about two months in, and I find you totally inspiring. Great video. :)
how do you rig safely in a tree
waverli I was wondering the same thing
You don't, it's not safe. You have a tree expert come out and guess the age and sturdiness of the tree before rigging.
waverli 😅 for me the tree looks more safe than those thin ropes on stages
You get friends together and have 10X your weight hang on it. If it doesn't break then, it won't break when you do a drop. This info was given to me by a professional aerial rigger.

Wow o.o I hope to see more! Every video I see you upload I have to watch! Hope you get even more amazing!
wowww all the figures are beautiful, I also practice aerial silks, thanks for the motivation
Great work! That's a lot of dedication to get there in 8 months!

Thank you very much! That really means a lot to me! :) :) :) I have 2 more aerial silks videos coming and another pole video in the queue!
Im in shock! Absolutely beautiful!
it must be terrifying to think that branch might break!!
my daughter is nine and is amazed on how y'all do this she has a rope hanging outside she climbs on and scares the heck out of me with all the tricks she does on it.
That's amazing girl keep the work up
it is not about what tricks she can do but how she do them, how natural and easy she looks

wow this was beautiful and amazing
Ahhhhhh all these people taking aeriel silk classes aren't pointing their toes!! You point with your ankle and foot, if your foot is flexed but toes are curled, that's not pointed. It should be a straight line :)
Some moves are not safe that way
Alyssa Mathews Sometimes if you point you fall lol I learned that the hard way
yes but this is aerial silks not ballet
Jajaja Mony, aerial silks Is Whit Point, Is very ugly with toes Like she
Some moves you CANNOT point your toes or you’ll fall
you are awesome! can't stop watching. what's the name of the color of your silk - I want to order it for my yoga lessons ;-)
Oh my god I’m soooo sorry again thanks so much for the help, mabye could you link me to set you bought to hang your silks from the ceilings?
Very nice knee drop! You're doing so great! (L)

how did you get the fabric up on a tree in the park?
I think she tied it too a tree
*❤❤❤ STUNNING!! ❤❤❤*
I’ve always wanted to do this but I have no idea where to find the stuff
Hi, I was wondering how you hang your silk on the tree? Could you tell what you used and maybe show me a picture of how it looks. Thanks.
Amazing job by the way
Wow your an inspiration great skill you be best in this I know!
God Bless You & Everyone

Lenora
I'm practicing too, I have only 4 moths and I hope do that soon :)
there are some things I wouldn't do over concrete, but you have great poses(forms?)
Awww thank you so much! I appreciate that!
I'm really curious how you attached the silk to the tree. Really great stuff!
Hi I’m sorry I just found this vid I’m doing Ariel silks I just had my first class when is it safe to rig and how do I rig it I’m thinking of putting it in my basement but since it’s short I’m thinking of shortening the Ariel silks what do you think
Wow, your so good! I start my classes in 2 days! Hopefully they aren't canceled!
how are you doing now?
Awesome! I’ve been doing aerials for about 5 months and we haven’t been taught any of this stuff. :(
the tree branch looks like it's gonna snap any second u crazy girl
The skills and tricks are there but you really need to work on presentation. Flow between tricks and point toes, make it pretty
! just started 'Acrosphere', an aerial skills class. Could you give me some pointers? :)
Where did u purchase these silks from? just wondering because i was thinking of getting a set but I'm not really sure where to get them from
I lol when the guy with the dog walked by
Hello! :)) Do you have a link where you got yours?
you should be on America's Got Talent
Omg I’m so annoying one more thing is the one you use the one you can do all the cool fancy drops on?
I loved it! Where did you take classes?
Its a public park and tree, how did you get up there to attach the rigging? I never thought of doing this at a park, my trees are too short. Thanks for your answer, Im just starting out. For only 8 months you seem like a pro!
what's the key to hanging the silks from a tree?
so cool! great job!
OMG WOW THAT LOOKS FUN
You should try and get the trick 'cacoon ' it looks amazing once perfected :)
Thanks so much! :) It's a very pretty color!
what is the width of the fabric???
You should! It's so much fun! :)
do you have to be really flexible to do aerial silks? i really want to do it but i'm kind of not flexible haha...
It'll come to you
You'll build flexibility over time. You can take yoga or Pilates classes along with doing aerial art to enhance strength and flexibility.
Tiya Yempati no
Nope I do dance as in ballet contempary lyrical hip hop and I did tap for two days but I didnt like bc I was ahead even though I NVR did it I was doing peiroettes in them lol not rly bc me teacher said I was gonna fall but I diddnt which I'm glad ..... But I'm not flexible before I started a half a yr ago I couldnt touch my foot with my head and barely do a split a split with leg bent and head touch foot not a very good back bend but now I could do all that and a good type of leap/ the one I'm best at is the one with ur fount leg straight and back leg bent and today I did my first firebird on the ground bc I could only do it on a trampoline ..... I'm proud dont judge lol ...... And the other day on the silks I could only do a thing where I go upside down which I did wrong and a swing but yesterday a guy who did classes taught me a lot doo much I forget and I'm not good with names but none of that requures flexibly except the dances
You are fantastic!! :D
how do you rig safely on a olive tree?
Can you put aerial silks in your house and if so how? Where do you get them? How much? I soooo want one
aerialessentials dot com (:
Thanks xD
Thanks girl! I appreciate it!
How many yards of silk did you get sorry for all the questions
I’m sorry for bugging so much I’m just looking into purchasing and I want to make sure I do it right. So you told me where to buy yours from but what is the item called specificity I want exactly the ones your using in this video please let me know! GREAT job btw.
