Thanks for this extremely informative video 😙👌
I’ve got one of those Link X-Care machines that’s running perfectly normally but it’s making a loud sound when running. I think it’s the bearing but I’ve wondered how to get the top off so I can investigate. I’ve got the back three screws off but the top isn’t sliding out it’s not budging yet.

The top cover is VERY stiff! You have to pull it out of the slot in the front bezel. Just keep pulling and wiggling it until it slide backwards, you should then be able to lift it out. There are 2 roller bearings located at the front of the machine; it might be one of those making the noise. The drum just rests on top of them. It's not the quietest of machines. If you are going to the trouble of taking it apart, I would be sorely tempted to replace the motor capacitor whilst you are in there. Don't buy another Ducati one they are rubbish.

Thank you so much for the advice. I’ve got the top off now and the front panel. I next need to get the surround out of the way.
I’ve uploaded a video of the sound ours is making. Do you reckon from this it’s the bearings you’ve suggested? ua-cam.com/users/shortsR1-ZyXYcEfE?feature=share
I’ll look into replacing the capacitor while it’s disassembled 👍
We’ve only had it 3 years and just replaced a dishwasher that went faulty a year after I replaced the heating element. I don’t want to replace another white good so soon!

@@roberohnthat noise sounds like something is rubbing. There area couple of tensioner pulleys on the belt down by the motor, it could be that. On some models there is a single screw under the bottom of the machine near the edge that you need to remove in order to take the side panel off.
I’m afraid that the Hoover appliances are not terribly well made. What they do have in their favour is the availability of cheap parts.

@@bvqbvq Totally agree with you on how poorly made these appliances are. I've managed to pry the right-hand side of the unit open just enough to get a good look in there but I'm unable to remove any further without removing the rear fan which I've no idea how that comes off.
I'm pretty certain you were correct on the tensioner pulleys. We ran the dryer for a bit and although it wasn't making much of that noise previously we did hear it for a moment or two and the sound definitely came from the area where the pulleys and the motor are. I've managed to get the belt off but I reckon I'll need to take the motor out to get at the bolt to remove the pulleys if I want to try replacing them.

If you remove the screws from the front and the one underneath then you can bend the casing away and that might give you enough room to see what’s happening. To remove the drum completely you need to remove the cover from the back of the machine and then undo the 6 or so screws that hold the bearing plate in position. You can then slide the drum out the front. You see witness marks of something has been rubbing. I did have a spare set of pulleys but I think I sold them on eBay.

    Szia!
A gáz R-290 . Mennyisége azonban nincs megadva a kompresszor címkéjén.

Hi, yes, I have seen this problem. The compressor was running and hot but no cold pipe. I think the problem is a gas leak or a blocked pipe. I could not find a cheap method to find the leak, fix it and add new gas. I sold all of the parts on eBay and scrapped the heat pump :-(.
I've just looked on the back of my Hoover dryer and it says R290, 0.15kg. R290 is only propane, so easy to find.
Are you sure that the compressor is running properly? I have seen many bad capacitors where the value is low. Do you have a capacitance meter to measure it or a spare one to try (must be correct uF value)?

@@bvqbvq I'm past all measurements. I might try filling it up using a refrigerator-like method. But I'm more likely to sell it for breakdown as a part, and then never again heat pump.

@@karolykerner6431 let me know if you are successful in regassing the refrigerant. I think that heat pump dryers are good but the Hoover/Candy models seem to be poor quality. I have bought and repaired more than I have had to scrap and they are easy to fix so long as it's not a refrigerant problem.

I know it sounds a silly question but it's my first heat pump dryer what is the fan for at the front of the dryer bottom right-hand corner does it come on and off intermittent

That's a perfectly reasonable question. The only item that gets quite hot in a heat pump is the compressor, since that is the part doing the work. The fan is there to cool it if it gets too hot. Personally I have never seen the fan come on. I suspect that on a very hot summers day when you have been drying for a long time, that's when the compressor may reach the temperature where the fan is switched on.
