I love puletasis, although I've never worn one. I grew up in Samoa and my mum wore them a lot to church. I'm now married and I live in S/America, but I still have fond memories of Samoa. I've also learnt to sew at home, and I recently found a fabric with island print! Something that is hard to come by around here. I'll be turning it into a puletasi soon, because although I'm a Solomon Islander, I'm a Samoan girl at heart! I hope to visit with my little family one day and visit my first school and old neighbourhood in Alafua, and take them to swim at the Papase'ea Sliding Rocks.

+ilian cademar - infected??? Fa’a Samoa culture is over 3000 years old, christianity has been one of the few western influences that has been accepted into Fa’a Samoa aka samoan way of life. We have a great history with John Williams from London Missionaries, the only disturbing history we have is when the white men from New Zealand had been granted a mandate over the former German colony. New Zealand ship Talune arrives at Apia from Auckland, on board people are suffering from pneumonic influenza killed more than 8500 Samoans. NZ govt had no respect for the fa'asamoa, so our people fought for our independence, a Peaceful Mau led by our leader Tupua Tamasese Leaofi, however he was shot dead by the NZ military police...his last words " "My blood has been spilt for Samoa. I am proud to give it. Do not dream of avenging it, as it was spilt in peace. If I die, peace must be maintained at any price." The missionaries were there comforting and supporting the people of Samoa. In 1962 Samoa achieved independence. Till today our Samoan Culture is still alive and well. The sames goes to our Motto, we are not perfect but we know e "Fa'avae i le Atua Sāmoa" in other words "Samoa is founded on God" Have a nice day :)
