  • I go through this incredible UK Peugeot 205 Gti in stunning Laser Green. It was then made into a copy of the special edition in France called the Griffe!
This car was l lovingly restored and resprayed in its original Laser green colour, which looks
fantastic. The driving experience obviously is not that of modern cars but feel good factor is 10! So a quick blast on Sunday is great fun. Please comment if you owned or had great experiences with the 205 GTI.
    Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 - 1.9 litre specs
The 1.6 litre GTI was launched in 1984 for £6400.00, and came with a XU5J engine, producing 105 PS (77 kW; 104 hp), for the 1987 model year the XU5J received the cylinder head with larger valves thus becoming XU5JA. The new engine was quoted for 115 bhp (86 kW; 117 PS). The 1.9 litre GTI came with an XU9JA engine producing 128 PS (94 kW; 126 hp), although later models with a catalytic converter produce 122 PS (90 kW; 120 hp). Internally these engines are very similar, the main differences on 1.9 litre versions being the longer stroke, oil cooler, and some parts of the fuel injection system. The shorter stroke 1.6 litre engine is famed for being revvy and eager, while the 1.9 litre feels lazier and torquier. Outside the engine bay the main differences between the 1.6 GTI and the 1.9 GTI are half-leather seats (1.9 GTI) vs. cloth seats (1.6 GTI); and disc brakes all-round (1.9 GTI) vs. discs at the front and drum brakes at the back (1.6 GTI); as well as the 14" alloy (Speedline SL201) wheels (1.6 GTI) vs. 15" (Speedline SL299) alloys (1.9 GTI).
Look forward to bring you more videos on these classics soon 🙌

Well, that took me right back. Retro - late 80’s. And, how roomy is that for a small car. A fun drive, well commentated. Licence plate, nearly perfect 😉

I am just after getting mine back after getting a lot of work done to it.
It has been away since September 2021 so I'm really looking forward
    to using it this summer.
That Laser Green is a great colour on them, Peugeot got so much right with the Gti.
I would love to try a Rallye someday, the proper Euro spec one with LHD and with the
1.3 screamer under the bonnet 🙂

True classic! That was a time when Peugeot were at their best - together with the later 106 GTi which I owned. After that… 😬🤦🏻‍♂️

Had one of these. Steel block and alloy head meant head gasket central if you didn’t warm them up properly. The mk2 golf gti was the stronger option but the handling balance and box were amazing.

Just bought a Hyundai i20N. 200 bhp and sub 1.2 ton as replacement for ep3 type R. But is more like the child of the 205 and e46 BMW M3. Short wheelbase and a Beerman creation. Vive Le hot hatch!

I had a 205 GTi and swapped it for a Clio Williams, that's a comparison video you should do!

Volkswagen invented the GTI. The original Morris Mascot Cooper were nimble. Peugeot took the best of two worlds and put it in to one car. Fast by the standards of the day and nimble like the Cooper. There's one on offer in my country in prestine condition at a good price. The only thing preventing me from buying it - is the prospect of a divorce being very costly.... I'm certain that my enthusiasm about analog feedback giving an adulterated drivers experience would be completely lost on my wife. I've fought hard to keep my vintage stereo system. You've got to pick your fights with care. You can't win every battle - nor have to. I'll have to make do with a video of someone enjoying one of the best cars ever built. However if you tell me you've managed to keep your big vintage stereo system as well - I might reconsider my options...

      Agreed
I had one as everyone was going for the 205
Wrote it off and the engine ended up in a talbot horizon (same car more or less)
Loved that even better lol 😂
