Saw this clip and decided to say hello to everyone! Thanks for all the nice comments on the music :-) //Firefox
one of the best tracks on amiga!
The music you done for this and other releases is legend. Thank you Jimmy/Firefox. Best regards
legend
Amazing track my friend, pure legend...
I loved this so much as a Kid ! the Music was amazing... Now I realise its very much an Italo vibe, certainly the underpinning groove of the track
Casual reminder that the Amiga was released in 1985. It cannot be stressed enough just how outstanding this machine was for its time.
Just like ZX Spectrum back in the day!
Shame Commodore went down!
Remarkable piece of hardWARES!, C64, Amiga
@@martinandersson9712no the spectrum was nothing special for the time really
The Amiga is the only machine I felt had a personality'. I remember seeing these demos in the 90s, and nothing comes close to that feeling
I agree. Miss it badly.
Game music died after the amiga. CD audio was the worst thing to happen.
@@bird6691 cd audio from Command&concuer with 1x cdrom, aergh .. Space Debris - Captain
@@STriderFIN77 there are some exceptions and most of them are early. People gave up being creative and got lazy once CD Audio hit for the most part. These days game music is just background noise, sad.
@@bird6691 i am lucky i have been in and near Finnish Commodore(*all) machinaes and Demoscene... meaning that i have had possibility to enjoy demos audios, and even people that made those
Imagine, what features and technical advantages a new computer should have to be so much ahead of this age as the Amiga was ahead of its time. Pre emptive multitasking, 4 channel hi-fi stereo sound, palette size of 4096 colours, 3.5 “ fdd with 880kb capacity, risc graphical co processors (Blitter and copper, MC68000 cpu, 512 kbytes of Ram, etc... just 3 years after the release of C64... i can still remember the feeling when I first saw the A500 in 1986. It was a fucking spaceship. No doubt, Jay Miner was the biggest genius in computer industry.
You have pretty much said it all. We who have always loved the Amiga have seen and knew this from day one, and why it still beloved to this day. The demoscene helped show the true Amiga capabilities.
I can still remember seeing this demo for the first time in '91 and was left in amazement in what i was seeing and hearing.
This is now 2020 as i type, and i still get that rush as i fire this up and hear Paula kicking in that killer tune and the visuals begins. Only Amiga!
Indeed. The moment I saw a screen shot of Defender of the Crown I was hooked. Just had to get an Amiga and sold my C64 to fund it. I soon got bored with the game though and started messing with the Copper and Blitter. Amazing stuff for the time.
@@johanaberg621 I did the same. I played the game "Defender of the crown" in a computer-store in the city Stockholm in Sweden
Wow, I never thought about it as just 3 years after the C64. i was there at the time, my friends had C64s, then in 1988 I got an A500... it was such a huge, immediate step up. And as a programmer, it was an amazing challenge with so much potential with all the coppers and stuff. If going C64 to Amiga was a step up, going 1985 Amiga to 1992 Amiga was another equal step, just because people learned how to use the hardware better!
25 years after and still rocks
Totally agree with you. Amiga rules !!!
30 now
*TIMELESS*
32 years now🎉
4:12 - One of the best riffs in Amiga demo history.
ThE BeST EveR!!!
I used to put this on to listen to when I had this disk and my amiga 1200. I still listen to this in 2024. I really do love it.
It's 2023 and this demo still rocks
My stepdad did the drums for this:)
Based
There are remixes. Have a look for them. Just as good in their own way.
2024 still rocks 🎉 🎶🎶
in 2024 this is 33 years old. unbelievable. one of the best amiga demos ever. showing in old skool computer shops around Europe and I heard it made Amigas fly out the shelves 3 to 1 compared to Atari. this was inspirational. 7.x MHz and a couple of custom chips and it was chucking out things you wouldn't see today on machines with 100,000 the power.this is old, and I'm old but it never gets tired.
One of the best demotracks ever made.
I plugged my Amiga into an Akai stereo system and cranked this up back in the 90s. Good times.
Like i used to? Hehe i still have my stereo and the tapes i recorded these demos onto :-)
ua-cam.com/video/VlfLeRW3sWA/v-deo.html
Akai, that's a blast from the past. I used to have an Akai amp wired up to some monster Wharfdale speakers. Used to get the neighbours playing hell with me when I had the music cranked up.
Its 2018 currently. This demo came out in 1991. Thats 27 years ago. 27 years before 1991 is 1964. Time is a crazy concept.
sometimes i feel like 90's were supposed to be the "present" and we are living in the future
This demo is now as old, as how long they go back in time in Back to the Future.
And all of us who were active in the demo scene at the time are now around 50 years old. Going back 50 years in time from the early 1970s when we were born and we arrive in the early 1920s. Ouch!
@S Hol And now its 2021. And 30 years since the demo came out. Congrats, I guess? Tempus fugit. Still a banging tune and great demo. Well, heres to 30 more.
The music sounds like Italo disco, and I love it
I see what you mean. I never thought about that before. Someone else linked to some other music on this video. Turns out it totally was Italo. Very similar to Laser Dance.
Oh sorry youtube is recommending old videos again
True... Italian disco and Amiga... That's what makes you feel something
Back when people did this for the love and the art. Better days... truly.
Oh, and they did it to one-up each other, believe me. We're talking teenage boys ;)
There's as much competitive drive as there's artistic motivation behind this.
@@d0dge947 I know about the competition :) But they also knew what they were doing and didn't do it for big money or companies telling them how to. And the music was just brilliant thinking about what they made it with.
This is my youth (in 1991 i was 16 years old :) Still worked at C64 but waiting for Amiga 500. 1992 meant my own Amiga :) and Phenomena demo with great, amazing music. I love this nostalgy time :) Commodore 64 and Amiga let me knew magical world of composing music and be the part of music family :) Today, tomorrow and always writing the music I recall those times. Best regards for all Commodore Funs and music composers
First demo I saw on Amiga. After that Amiga was my no.1 and its still today.
I still have 3 amiga500s and a commodore 64c too...love it.
i tell you once more time. this is the best demo scene music!
A milestone of the golden era of the Amiga 500 - one of my all time favorites demos.
The soundtrack to this demo is one of my absolute favorites! Just great!!!
I once wrote a comment that the Amiga had better sound than the Sega megadrive and one guy was offended, but it's true so why be offended?🎵🎵

Amazing memories from my childhood ❤️ R.W.O/Kefrens
Thank you for creating great memories with your awesome artwork.
This tune has gotta be one of the top 10 on the Amiga.
This tune is one of my all-time faves on the Amiga. A timeless classic.
Best demo music ever! Can't believe it's 30 years old now. Now I feel old lol
Old is Gold :-)
Outstanding music!! 👍👍👍
A breath of fresh air, away from all of today's crap they have out there now!! How far we have fallen from the great music we once use to have everywhere!! 😭
This is the demo that stands out for me back in the day. It was iconic. I still have my 500 with the 1084S monitor and this demo still sounds and looks amazing on that
The spheres had me in awe, then the raytracing overwhelmed me.
Fantastic.
Best Amiga demo ever. When I saw it, 30 years ago, I couldn't believe how amazing was, specially the first cube and the music...
Legendary demo... As a programmer, Amiga was my favourite system. And my friends had PC's in the late 80's but they came to me when they wanted to see/play some really great games on a computer.
The copper made gfx programming fun and easy!
The Amiga community should develop an enhanced Amiga based on the old hardware so it would be fun to programming
I love how Azatoth’s ray tracer had features that we only see in modern game engines and graphics libraries for the past 20 years (like real-time phong shading & infinite lights) on the Amiga. THE AMIGA.
The music is incredible and one of my favourite demos of all time on my favourite computer of all time.
Yeah the music tune is one of the best ever produced. I spend all my time in to the amiga world. Due to my brother and his friends ran a huge bbs with 4 nodes haha .
Another great evening with Enigma on the telli
28 years and still fu%#up my mind!! Amiga 4 Ever!
Always loved the music in this demo - classic.
Been there,. done that, Denmark and Germany Copy party in the 90's 👍
When Dreamhack wasn't even an idea!
It's like nostalgia overload watching these. I forgot how much these demos meant to me back then.
Still love this music which gives good vibes. Great sounds and composing for that time. This tune sounds even better with higher quality today as original MOD file played over XMPlay (a bit of EQ, reverb, a bit less stereo separation and linear interpolation for aliasing).
Still my favourite Amiga demo, love the trip to mars when the music slows / changes 😍😎🥰
Still have this somewhere on a floppy disk I got from a public domain library for my A500. Fun times.
The nostalgia is strong on this one
It's normal to own a console nothing special these days,
but owning an Amiga back in the day was like having a computer from the future that was multiple generations ahead from the competition in the home market and indeed it was,
Real sound ,stereo ,midi ,samples, 16 bit supergraphics, friends and family were amazed they all said it looks like a cartoon with real sounds, the only thing most people knew were some monochrome pc graphics or atari
so imagine their awe when they saw a glimps of the future,
That was a special time of technical marvels with computers that had character and each game was completely different, thanks to all those super programmers that pulled it out of this machine
it was a kind of fun that is lost today no matter how good future graphics will be we all know how they will gonna look just improvements towards photo realism with the same fps and sports games
I prefer fun indie games that are different and reminds me of that special era...
This was the first floppy I've ever inserted into my Amiga 500...Epic!
It was this amazing demo that blew me away and I found myself watching more demos than game playing on my Amiga.
the music in this demo always was world class! i hope the guy went on to become a successful musician.
Great demo, even now. I love, how freaking big technology leaps were made back then, year after year. This demo in 1991, Unreal in 1992, Second Reality in 1993, Final Reality in 1997, 3DMark 99, 3DMark2001 SE. Just 10 years, and so much have been improved. I'm aware that hardware progress haven't slow down but at this point we've gained level of realism in games so high, that it's harder and harder to see difference. Like, you know, in 2023 games from 2017 will still kick ass, but when you compare game from 1991 with game from 1997 there's nothing to talk about. Impressive period of time it was.
to this day, this is one of the most memorable demos i ever experienced back in the day. while i'm grateful this is here, i can't stress enough how much better the experience is to see it playing on a live amiga on an actual CRT monitor.. the stars feel so much more alive and everything is just more ALIVE! however this is a very well done capture and can't imagine it looking any truer to form on an LCD monitor.
This is a stone cold classic amiga demo. One of my faves along with Global Trash and Desert Dreams. It's worth knowing that if you're listening with headphones and are unfamiliar with amiga sound the audio channels are mixed in this video, and for your own benefit; I remember I had a tape of amiga tunes I'd listen to on my knock-off walkman and, by god, the hard left/right audio hurt the ears after a while.
This is art.
Such happy memories :) thanks for posting ! Despite spending my entire life in IT from sw dev to sys admin to consultancy, Linux is nice, but the Amiga was the only time I ever really had ENJOYMENT !...the rest just paid the bills
this bringsd to mind alot of those early 3d cgi tech demos from the 70s and 80s
Have been watching some demos this evening, this is the one that I was looking for. Absolute masterpiece! Blessings to all involved. This is beautiful.
after almost 30yrs, still one of my favorite demos.
I was there. Well, actually I was one of the organizers and I was the head of the demo competition. Teeze / Anarchy 🤓
That's so cool. First demo i seen from Eire back on it's release and my love for Amiga was solidified. Still timeless
Still remember that weekend in Nyköping at the Anarchy party (I beleive) when this was released. Great times.
30 years and still in my head 🤩❤
Yes!! This is the demo. Most favorite on Amiga from when I was at school!
Just stunning in every way. Very 80s! The best.
we was so amazed with raytraced spehere over the mandelbrot fractal, no wonder I ended in tv graphics and design later ... thank you for this amazing demo!
Amazing to think the Amiga only had 4 channels of sound. Makes the song even more impressive.
Talkin’ about bringing back memories !!! This stuff was jaw dropping at the time. And considering the time this was made it still is !
I remember seeing an early draft of this demo that I got from Tip. It had a picture of a tiger as loading image and a different type face for the early credits. Same amazing tune though. What doesn't come thru in the UA-cam-video is the loading routine. If my memory doesn't fail me I belive the demo used the technique of just reading tracks from one side of the disk at the time in order to create a faster tic-tic-tic sound from the disk reader head as the demo was loading. One of my absolute favorite demos after Mental Hangover and Hardwired (shame about the last part of the demo though, really think that could have been left out).
Great insight Johan, thank you. One of my favs also and one of my first demos i had seen on Amiga. What a welcome!
Along what you mentioned are up there also, along with the mighty Desert Dream
The music was made during the Anarchy Party where the demo was released. I was there and spent a lot of time in the room with the Phenomena guys, and witnessed the creation of the music as it happened :) The early draft must have had different music
@@DeeperSoundz I might not remember correctly but I have a distinct memory of visiting Tip in his apartment in Växjö and hearing an early version of the music. That trumpet is hard to forget. So I think the main parts of the tune were in place when I got the draft demo. But I also know that Tip and Firefox spent much time synchronising the tune to the events in the demo, especially the Trip to Mars part and that could very well have happened during the party. :)
Love this ! Nostalgia!! And the music rocks!
so much good memories! it was THE DEMO with THE MUSIC!
Simply an Amiga masterpiece!
I had this demo on my A2000 back in the early '90s, and I still have the same A2000 with GVP GeForce 68030/68882 and OpalVision and all my 100s of disks from 30 years ago although the Amiga is currently life-less but seeing this incredible demo for its time and that cracking soundtrack has made me want to blow the cobwebs of the old girl and get her to fire up again for one last "hoorah".
Wow! This is a tune to listen to. I feel the 80´s feel of possibilities and the whole world is open and ready for you.
still love the music.
3:07 is the goose bump part .... love the atomosphere!
3:03 How to become from a masterpiece to a LEGEND.
1991 - AMIGA the BEST from the BEST!!!
Simply the best demo for the AMIGA 500! I remember the time I saw it ....1991! dam! I´m getting old! :) ->2019!
Personal favorite of mine too. The music blew my mind and I watched it A LOT.
One of the best demo ever ! I remember when it was released, I was blown away...and I still am even after all these years !
Simply the best Amiga demo......ever!
I can't imagine the sense of accomplishment the creators must have felt at the time. Nowadays it feels like setting up your dev environment is the most tedious part of development. Hats off to the shoulders of the giants I'm standing on.
simply great
Thanks for sharing, I still have my original disc for this on the A500 - I remember it blew my mind way back in the early 1990s - I used to play it over and over... every note of the music still in my head.
one of the ground breaking demos at the time of release, and awesome music.... happy days :)
@jimmy I remember watching this demo a dew days after it was released and I still get the goosebumps from the music and the awesomeness of the coding! Wow... Just realised that it's celebrating its 30th birthday this year...
I remember getting this demo disk at Earls Court Amiga Show
First demo on Amiga I ever saw and it was part of first 10 Disks for my Amiga 500! Especially music is great
My favourite Amiga demo. Loved the trip to mars and the music throughout. Mad talent n skills, respect \o/
I like music of Amiga Demo I hearing daily with my car :)
Me too dude!!! incredible tunes !!!
update.june 2021.and im listening to it right now! firefox,im hoping youre doing fine, man!!!
Very good Amiga music. I had this demo and watched it on my Amiga in the 90s. Still having the disk. :)
Even taking my own songs into account, The Enigma song is probably the best Amiga song ever made. :-) I wish I was back in the 90's again !
Goes to show the importance of tweaking the details, like the ADSR of the bass line to give it that bouncy feel
This is my first watched Amiga Demo. When I watched it first and I was shocked. Years passed away, today I watched again and I really excited again :) Thank you so much.
3:10 haven't heard that song in decades, yet it was somewhere in my memory
I was hyped watching this back then and I'm still hyped watching it now!
i love the music in this demo. would love this as a ringtone.
when its time to hit the store for that re-up 4:28
42 polygons on screen at the same time! I remember thinking how incredible this was. Imagine going back to 1991 with a raspberry pi and 1080p monitor.
How was it when the SNES got the "Super-fx"? That thing could display 1000+ polygons a second!
@@harrisonhall1139 the SNES had such a weedy CPU, the Super FX chip was like magic. It's a pity it didn't come with one by default
That wireframe appearing as a texture on another model is so impressive!
This song could top the charts. So good loved it then love it now. Need to go listen to Danko music now
this still sounds great on my Cerwin Vegas' the same ones that were on my amiga2000 when this was released! Amiga lives forever!
Still my all time favourite Miggy demo, with possibly Jesus On Es or the Northstar/ Fairlight mega demos a close 2nd.
I was always really impressed with the Orc warrior at the start, it's really cool!
just got an 600 because of the demos. this tune is awesomely upliftin
I switched from MSX2 tot Amiga somewhere around 1992. What a time :)
30 years and still moves me.
Man this song is STILL epic! I remember watching this demo over and over and over again on the Amiga back in the days
"For what specific reason(s) do you think that you are remembered ?
Because i made the good and mega arrogant demo Enigma which dropped down like a bomb in the amiga-scene culture."
