LoreWarrior Online - The Berserker

- The mad lad with his huge choppa arrives in LoreWarrior, the Berserker. One of the more recognisable assaults produced for Battletech. What it lacks in firepower it more than makes up for with speed, hatchet swinging and armour protection.
This is definitely a mech that had Solaris 7 in mind during the design phase.
The mech makes me think of that one Bugs Bunny cartoon where the one character with the scimitar is yelling Hassan chop.
This one:

I first seen the artwork as a kid. I thought at the time that the hatchet was actually apart of the other mech that it killed. I like to imagine that if it got into hand to hand combat it would use the flamer to roast the enemy cockpit
I imagine that is the idea in universe.
Never change, Defiance Industries... Never change!
It needs a variant with a foam generator under the cockpit and horns out the sides of the cockpit so it looks properly beserker-ish...
Beer Hat
Vikings didn't wear horned helmets that's not historically accurate
Frothing at the mouth crazy 'mech yeah.
Definitely some upsides to the design… but for the price of 3 Atlas’s though? That’s a tough sell.
(Anywhere but Solaris VII anyway 😂)
It's like a Bugatti Veyron you want one, can't afford it, drool over it then realize you can something just as good cheaper...
I made a variat of this mech using a Mace. Using the older tactical handbook rules. It also used TSM. 40 normal damage 80 with TSM when running hotter. Took out a Warhammer in 2 swings. First one smashed rhe right torso and smashed into the center. The second hit the left torso and Finnish off the rest of the CT. Sadly he was destroyed in the same game to a No-Dachi that got behind him, took a sword to the CT rear and crit out the engine. We were playing exploding engine rules at that time. The No-Dachi lost his arm to that engine explosion.
With Similar Mechs like the Templar at around 25,338,448 C-Bills and the Marauder ii at 22,544,000, I think that this is a pretty good buy for an assault mech that can cut anything smaller then it to pieces
I guess it then comes down to what works best out of those three examples. I mean it might be better to take the Marauder II instead because of the lower price but having jump capability etc.
Berserkers! Please the algorithm!
Huh. Kind of surprised Alden doesn't pop into this Lore Videos of yours.
Just imagining a banshee going "That's my boy!"
Only thing I like about this design is that it inspired the Free World League to build the Neanderthal, which pretty much does what the Berserker wants to do on an 80 ton frame. Arguably does it better even, although the BVs are very similar.
Man that is an ugly looking 'mech.
@@CriticalRocket It really is. And aren't Snubs a bit too all or nothing heat wise tonreliably micromanage TSM with?
@@DIEGhostfish Oh, it's goddamn hideous, that's what I love about it. Not the worst thing WizKids dopey plastic toy line came out with, but in the low end of the range. The heat management's easier than it looks due to the PPC capacitors, although still a little tricky.
Still rather run one of them than a stock Berserker any day. 100 ton hatchets are just ludicrous overkill.
My love for you is like a truck.
Beat me to it
My love for you is a ticking clock
Berserker
I forked out for a IWM model of this (shipped all the way to NZ) because I wanted a full lance of Lyran axe mechs, and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the sculpt. I am really hoping they do a plastic remodel in the upcoming KS, I would love to see how it looks with the new design ethos.
That sucks to hear. I hope they do add it to the next kickstarter.
Welcome to battlemech park.
The mech piloted by John Wick....
(comics joke)
5:14 Mech Tech, is that the great show hosted by Eddie 'The Ferret' Hodge and his able co-host Critical Rocket 🙂?
Eddie is quite busy and I am proud to be a guest on the show on the odd chance I am available.
The CCG art makes it look kind of like a Xenomorph. It and the Pillager are two of the most alien-looking 'Mechs IMO.
Some of the hatchet art for this 'Mech just looks awkward.
Love this 'mech.
heck yeah! the Berserker is amazing + very scary if it gets close [el'sda2].
Look the ghost bears have a Kodiak variant that has mask. We need to do that but give it a big big hatchet too.
Always trying to one up the clans and falling short each time.
Bold of you to think a berserker can't wreck a kodiak
Big boy
I love this mech. Let’s say I was fielding a merc company though. I’d rather buy 3 Atlas’s or 4 Awesome’s or hell a mixture of differing mechs for that 32 million C-Bills.
That is generally how most feel though the idea of being able to afford entire lances of these is a status symbol as well.
I can see this thing on a battlefield, runing down a charger.
And the Charger pilot sweating.
Needs TSM to really wreck shit up
Two of the three variants trade MASC for TSM. Its bastard cousin the Neanderthal used it on the base model.
Not as good as a Ti Ts'ang
The Flamer always seemed pointless to me, I understand WHY they added it, but an extra DHS would be MUCH better to allow all weapons to fire almost constantly.
Probably for that in universe fear effect of the flamer burning down infantry or burning pilots in their cockpits but in game terms it is completely pointless.
@@CriticalRocket Yeah, that is the why, to me though it's obvious that their intended targets with this mech is never going to be infantry. So I'd find it more scary if it could tear through a company of mechs that much easier. Having said that it's not a huge difference, just means to have to skip out on the PPC every so often.
I have been looking at this machine more and I think a simple solution is to downgrade the ER PPC to an ER Large Laser and use the extra 2 tons to add another AMS with ammo and half a ton more armour.
Then I looked up the AMS rules and remembered why I tended to disregard that system so much... the ammo is stupid. A machine gun has 200 bursts of fire that can kill multiple people per burst for every ton of ammo. An AMS can shoot down 12 missiles for that same ton of ammo and for some stupid reason clan ammo is half the weight (they get 24).
An AMS is literally just a faster shooting, auto-aiming, machine gun. I had to look up my house rule ammo table, when I play AMS have 50 ammo and work the same way. SRMs ammo is also counted by the missile and not by the volley, so the SRM6's do not stupidly have 10 less missiles per ton.
I love the game, but some basic maths errors and common sense mistakes do sometimes ruin things a little. Anyway Rant over.
It's a close quarters fighter , a flamer is useful
