I think a huge part of Gustavo's charm is the authentic love he has not just for the music, but for the musicians in the orchestra. So many conductors behave like gods and treat their orchestras like underlings. Gustavo understands it's his task to lead the orchestra, but it's ultimately the musicians who make the piece come alive, and you can see his deep appreciation for them doing so in his energy and smiles afterwards. He always tells his orchestras, "beautiful" or "wonderful" or something of the like. There is no pretension in his approach whatsoever and it's so great to see.
I feel lucky to live in LA and see him conduct the LA Phil.

I think the music is not the biggest talent of Gustavo Dudamel. In my opinion, the best talent of Gustavo Dudamel is the communiation, he´s a great communicator, he knows how to explain his ideas, and transform it in inspiration, he can do it with words, gestures, body language, and especially, the music. He´s very sensible, and he´s an emphatic person. It seems to me that´s why his Orchesta is so good. Thanks for share about Gustavo Dudamel, his method and his porpouse are beautiful, he is an inspiration for the ones who dream .

I love seeing Gustavo in his rehearsals. Always giving everything to equally receive everything back from the musicians. It is expressed with much love and respect for each one. that's love what he does and is heard and felt in all the orchestras that he directs, especially the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, the Venezuelan orchestra that he conducts and that the musicians are like brothers and sisters because they have known each other for decades because many of them started with Gustavo when they were only 4 years old.

For those of you with understanding, I am about to pay Gustavo the ultimate, and well-deserved, compliment. He is the Frank Zappa of the orchestral world. He encourages the musicians to give of their best, to play to the utmost of their skills...and then enables them to do even better. Not only does he show them how to perform more skilfully and passionately, but he empowers them in such a way that they play even better than they possibly thought they could! Such a man is a true inspiration. Bravo, Gustavo Adolfo Dudamel Ramirez! (AKA Carlos, the Assassin Conductor!)

We are lucky to be alive to see this genius conduct. f I never miss a concert when he is in NYC. He stands with his orchestra at the end of the piece, not on the podium.. He is humble. Ive been fo llowing him since he started with the LA Phil more than a decade ago.

Classical Chops I love how intelligent the children are, i'm sure they were well honed before coming to this practice, I think them playing for Gustavo is part of the PR, they got lots of oil money and have to keep their part of the bargain(THE BIGGEST PONZI SCHEME SINCE MADOFF) these kids were good before they got to LA, it was a piece of cake for the Dude, they play as well as the LA Phil, but that isn't hard. Hollyweird the land of make believe.

The work of Gustavo Dudamel it´s absolutely amazing. It seems to me that the cooperative work with the young generations in “El Sistema”, is the key that contributes to enforce their social development with equity and personal satisfaction; perhaps the activities that executes reduces the differences between the persons, mainly in the cases of children that born and grown in poverty.
In my point of view, the learning of the music it´s not only a therapy or an extra academic activity: it’s the design of an artistic vocation and the orientation to have discipline in all the things and activities in their lives. The musical practice builds order, planeation, strategies to administrate their time and contributes to organize their life... Perhaps, I believe it´s formative of good habits that are necessaries to all the people.
My impression is that... if this model will be implemented in correct form in all the Latin America region, the positive consequences will be enforcement the good habits in social segments that presents disgregation; for example, in communities with high margination around the big cities.

Gustavo represents the best that Latin culture produces. He does not only represent an enormous talent, but he brings with him high human values that he learned in Venezuela's Bolvarian Revolution, humility, solidarity and social commitment, a fresh contrast to Anglo-Saxon individualism.

It is a difficult task to express one from of feeling with a different form of feeling. And typically it is one art form (non-verbal) into another art form, in this case verbal. Here we have a conductor trying to communicate (with words) how a piece of music should be played. Take the cymbals - they are meant to be sword clashes. In this case easy enough. But when it comes to abstract concepts then it is more difficult to convey in words what is meant.
