Can I just say how much I love your post discussion?? You dive in to the deep stuff which I truly appreciate bc most reactors react to shows just bc its popular but don’t really understand or discuss the things this show is trying to portray. Great reaction as well, keep up the good work!!
Okay, this might be an off topic thing to say, but I really appreciate how you all give each other space to talk. I can see that y'all really respect each other's opinions and have fun talking with each other.
The use of color contrast is amazing. Their real lives are dingy, washed out, and rainy, while the games are bright, vivid, and surreal. It reminds me of the 1984 colorized version of Fritz Lang's 1927 film "Metropolis" (which you MUST see!). The acting is top fucking tier. The writing is amazing. Re-watching this show now with my wife (my kids and I have already watched, don't worry, they're in their 20s;)), and for her benefit we are doing the dub, and even the English-language voice actors are killing it, for the most part. The EVA for 001 is doing the old man-nerisms perfectly and mimicking the Korean old man accent and speech pattern (even though no other EVA is doing that) and it still comes off as honest and sincere, rather than a mocking and, potentially, very racist parody. This show hits on all cylinders, and your commentary, both as entertainers and as socio-economically-aware human beings, is spot fucking on. I'm here for it. Grab your umbrellas and get ready for the rain that's comin'.
Check out the interviews, the woman who designed the sets was given free reign and she killed it. Literally changed the atmosphere of the show and contributed so much to how characters are viewed by the audience

South Korea has universal healthcare, but a lot of people have private insurance because the governmental insurance covers up to 60% so there is still some out of pocket expenses when it comes to more expensive procedures. It’s actually rated one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world.
Korean health care system is way better than American health care system and one of the best in the world. In 2015, South Korea ranked first in the OECD for healthcare access. Satisfaction of healthcare has been consistently among the highest in the world. South Korea was rated as the second most efficient healthcare system by Bloomberg.
Lol. I'm half Korean, trust me when I say, they don't. Having access to Healthcare doesn't necessarily mean you receive ANY. Just because you're allowed to enter the healthcare facility doesn't mean they are efficient at curing illnesses, physical ailments or disease.

You all are having the kind of discussion about this that needs to be had. So many other reactors don't even touch on the fact that this is partially a treatise against the evils of capitalism.
Most people don't think they'll get spoiled by something that's supposed to be made for people who haven't watched and _probably_ don't want to know any details beforehand... Bad trailers are right up there, too, and unlike simple texts I doubt those are put together by underpaid interns (or the industry's equivalent).

I love how they titled this episode “Hell” and that, based on the previous episode, most assume that the game is about to become worse. But in reality, it is their everyday lives outside the game that exists as their living hell. In doing so they make the game seem like a miraculous opportunity where they’d obviously be willing to risk their lives to win, bc the slim chance of winning or even their death is better than living their actual lives. Ah, social commentary at its finest 😚🤌🏾

the reason why healthcare costs is so high is because of govt regulations and lack of competition. This is not capitalism. In industries that have free-er competition and less govt involvement, such as technology, electronics, you can see that prices drop and quality increase over time. In industries that the govt are heavily involved in, such as healthcare, education and housing, prices keep rising. Don't blame this on capitalism. What we have now is crony capitalism, not free-market capitalism.
America has one of the least regulated health care industries in the world. Among wealthy countries, America has some of the most expensive care for some of the worst health outcomes. Americans travel to Mexico Canada and Cuba for health care. Free-market capitalism is crony capitalism. Are you saying your system hasn't been tried yet, because I don't know what country you're thinking about. America has some of the least government involvement in the world, but other countries are better. How would you solve your "crony capitalism"? Government intervention? That's not a free market. @@jin_asap Thank you. I will check out "mises institute America healthcare regulations". However, early 20th century was clearly not a good time for too many Americans. Working conditions were terrible, and free market bubbles lead to the worst finance disaster in American history, the Great Depression. Rapid growth followed the government investing in America. From the 30s to the 60s taxes were high, living standards improved, and the government created the auto industry. Without the government creating the interstate highway system American car manufactures wouldn't be able to accomplish what they have. Also it took government intervention to integrate schools racially. Charter schools and private schools massively expanded to continue white only spaces. If were considering going back to the system in the early 20th century, I'll gladly keep myself here. I'm glad we can comment without resorting to pure insults.
@@ericew576 The Great Depression was caused by the federal reserve and govt interventions in the economy. Not by free-market capitalism. You can read up on this on mises institute too.
Great reactions! I don’t agree that it’s necessarily society’s fault though. At least we know in Gi-hun’s case he’s a gambling addict who routinely steals from his mother. Sangwoo had a good job and got greedy. Deok-su is a criminal who got greedy. The two immigrants fair enough but I’d wager that a lot of the people there just made a lot of bad personal decisions.
Universal healthcare sucks. You want an example? The military has free universal healthcare. It’s the perfect example of what would happen. It’s always a pain in the butt to get anything done. Authorizations are a pain. You don’t really get to choose your healthcare provider. Until you experience actual universal healthcare, you really live in a dream world.
As someone who has experienced and prefer universal healthcare over American healthcare system I can say you sound like you've never experienced universal healthcare
Capitalism doesn't make you like gambling or commiting finantial crimes. And North Korea definitely is not Capitalism and it's a living hell. So don't blame everything on Capitalism. The one whose situation are the worst in the show did the bad thing all by themself. People need to blame the system less and take up some responsibility.
