Man I feel like I’m seeing Vossen wheels everywhere lately. I think Obsessed Garage has done Vossen on a couple of his cars. Saw an Infiniti sedan on Vossens locally just the other day. And now this one also.

We have the dampening sat 8 clicks from the softest setting since we have good road in South Florida. Glad this video helped you.
I’m so glad they went back to the double wishbone suspension on the new TLX. I work up north and rust makes these a nightmare to work on. We do a ton of struts on the MDX which is the same setup

I have 2018 aspec, & I have contemplated weather to do this or not, then I saw the new 2021 tlx which comes out in September & the type s which comes out next spring & decided maybe not. Great content though

Vossens on an Acura look so nice
I finally got my lowering springs in 2 days ago after work I’m gonna swap out Old springs with new lowering springs, I got Eibach pro springs 1.5” front 1.3” rear no other company had a lower drop an I didn’t want coilovers so i went with these, I also have 19” 9.5 rear 19” 8.5 front jnc rims with 225/35/19. I’ll post a video of it when I’m completely done.

Great video but is hard to believe that an Acura TLX Aspec has a strut base suspension in the front, one of the things that make acura/ honda a go to brand was the suspension with a double wishbone front suspension...

Great video.... but I have one question. Why not keep the axle/LBJ/tie rod connected, and just disconnect the shock at the top and pull it out that way? Is there not enough room?

Would this be the same procedure for the front springs on a newer TLX Type S? That's a ton of effort to pull apart most of the suspension :(
The new TLX Type-S is a different setup in the front, actually a bit easier than the 1st Gen TLX you see here

Are those RS-R Sport i coilovers the same as the 2020 model year? I'm not seeing anything on their website for A 2021TLX A-Spec and I don't want to order the wrong part.
These RS-R Sport-i only fits on the 2015-2020 TLX (First Gen) and will not work on the 2nd Gen 2021+ TLX

When did Honda go to that design that you need to remove the knuckle to remove the strut seems like a lot of added work. First I thought it was a McPherson design. Never seen a design like that. Either way good job
It started on 2015-2020 TLX and 2014-2020 MDX and designed to bring more rigidity to the front suspension
It is a McPherson design. It’s just that the knuckle clamps around the strut instead of 2 bolts going through the strut body and knuckle like you normally see.
Hopefully you guys see this. Also new sub, watched all the videos in the last week. Owner of a 2019 tlx aspec. Black with red interior, V6 fwd. Love the car, but always wanted little more on the looks. Does changing out wheels n suspension mess with the IDS dynamic mode at all? And car looked good when you got done! In my experience I can tell when from switching to normal to sport+ it handles diff, is that computer wise in the steering? Will that throw everything off after the change? Just wondering before I take this car apart. Thanks for the videos.
Lowering and adding our wheels and tires does not change IDS's output.
IDS will adjust power-steering effort, throttle response, transmission shift logic, HVAC system operation, active sound control and the control logic for either the P-AWS or SH-AWD systems.

Nice job guys. Subscribed. I own the exact same car but with SH-AWD so I can't do a staggered setup. But would like to lower the car using coilovers. How close to stock does the RS-R ride? I also noticed that the Vossens you have came with 38 offset on the fronts compared to a 55 offset OE. How did the car handle with the bigger scrub radius? Again thanks for the video. Definitely looking forward to future contents.
Thanks for subscribing and welcome. You will have no issue running staggered on your SH-AWD. We have done a few in the past.
As for the RS-R coilover, it gives a much sportier ride which I think it exactly what the TLX is missing.
With the wider and a bit more aggressive Vossen wheel offset, I gives it more road fees and traction, specially in wet condition (if paired with good tires).
@@ahcgarage What are the tire specs for both fronts and backs? And thanks for answering my questions. I was thinking of doing 255/35 20s square setup but since you have done a staggered on AWD, definitely considering it now.
Front 20x9 +38 with 245/30/20
Rear 20x10.5 with 275/40/20
If you are not lowering more than -1.5” drop, then you can run 245/35/20 in the front

Hey guys. Just a couple questions cause I’m looking to do something very similar to my tlx next summer. In your professional opinion do you find a great difference in performance capability when we are talking 19” vs 20” rims. I love the look of 20s but don’t really want to compromise to much of the performance and comfort. I’m looking. At the same coils as well so any insight is greatly appreciated. Lastly, the side skits on this tlx...is that oem. I have a buddy at Acura that said if they are oem he can get them for me. So I’m just wondering. Thanks guys! Keep up the great content
With 19", you can run "meatier" tires which can translate to a better ride. If you keep you drop to no more than 1.5", you also can run slightly higher profile tires in the front.
As for the side skirts, they are standard for the 18-20 A-Spec models. If you have other models, they are available and can be purchase and install from you or your local Acura's dealership.
Does the stock aspec coils have same ride height as the normal tlx?
c riordan The rose height are identical from the Aspec to the rest of the TLxs. However, Aspec carries a sport-tuned suspension with more aggressive damper (Showa), bushing and spring settings, and more responsive steering.

We do not believe coilover is available for the current generation RDX (2019+). Eibach does make lowering spring for it
Just got a 2020 TLX with only 6K miles on it, this looks great, couple of questions on this upgrade, did you guys do the rear alignment, would that require adjustable toe arms and camber arms to get alignment to stock, and on the front, it looks like the RSR's don't have camber adjustment plate, any issue with that on the alignemnt? Or was this done intentionally from RSR for this vehicle.
Rear aftermarket camber arms would be beneficial to correct the rear negative cambers. The rear toes can be adjusted with the factory toe adjustment
Ok thank you as for the front you had full camber and toe adjust without the top camber plate, I noticed that it did not have it on the RSR coilover as it is with a lot of other brands

Nicely done! I would definitely recommend you! I was a Honda Tech from 86-2000. I just bought a 8k mile Certified 2018 TLX SH-AWD Advance. I'm lucky to have found your Video, because I thought stag set-up would cause problems. I want to go with the exact same set-up you have here, but I only want to lower it about 1" or so, just enough to reduce the fender gap and add a Eibach camber kit as you suggested if still recommended with a 1" drop? Also, can I run the same set-up but run Front: 245/35/20 &
Rear: 275/35/20 if I'm only lowering about an inch? Thank you
Glad you are here. As for the 1” drop, you might be able to get away without the rear camber kit. Since it’s a small drop, you likely to be without the factory spec. As for the tires, you need to run 245/35/20 up front and 275/30/20 in the rear for the mild drop

Hi Mike, I just installed my RS-R coilovers (XSPIH900M) on my 2018 Acura TLX SH-AWD and I noticed right away It's bouncy on the freeway so I decided to adjust it stiffer but it was already on the hardest setting from the manufacture. I did adjust the dampers to the middle setting (18) but I didn't notice any change. My guess is it has something to do with damper adjustment. I assume preload was already preset from the factory? Are the fronts always set up on the hardest setting when shipped out? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'll call RS-R on Monday If you don't have any suggestions. Thank you

Since the rear wheelbase has so much more room, a wider wheel at the rear will fill it up
@@ahcgarage so its more about form than function? That doesn't sound sensible. ESPECIALLY, when it comes to tire rotation as well as even wear of the tires.

Front with no issue. The rear has about -1.8 negative cambers. A camber kit in the rear will solve that issue

Also, I wanna get 20s on my A-Spec but don't have coil overs. I lowered with Eibach Pro Kit. Will those Vossen wheels spec fit? the coil over springs look much thinner than the Eibach springs.
Used RSr lowering springs with 19x8.5 +32 Vossen HF-5. Caster is off with the R/F .. car wants to pull right .. we have the SPC camber kit in the rear installed as well. Any ideas why the caster is off ? 2019 Acura TLX aspec

Hey! My buddy just got his 2020 TLX Aspec installed with Tein Flex Z coils. After install all his dash lights popped up. Have you had that situation when installing coils/springs? Do you think he needs a recalibration for his cruise control n Lane keep assist tech? Thanks!
What kind of warning light(s) is on? Coilover and lowering springs would not caused the MIL to comes on. Could something wasn't plugged in all the way.

We didn't install any camber adjusting arms. The cambers after lowering, only the rear was slightly out of specification. You will not be disappointed with the RS-R coilovers.

The coilover will fits all TLX models across-the-board. As for the warranty, that’s all depends on your extended warranty company policy
How would u compare rsr coilovers versus bc coilovers for this same car?
