I just happened to find this.. I will always remember Wes and The Cajun Travelers. We were so pleased to have them on The Chicken House Opry in Mission, TX and in Branson. MO. several times.
I was privileged to play fill in upright bass for Wes and all these wonderful guys at the LaGrange Ga bluegrass festival. When I auditioned in the Crab House for a practice and audition, Wes finally asked me what my name was. I told him it was Stevette. His comment was "well that's French". 😊. It was a fun weekend playing with these wonderful guys. I really had a blast. I see the llast entryon here was about six years ago, sorry to hear about Wes. But what a memory they gave me.
Wes and the guys were great friends, when they were in LaGrange GA. Wes and Leon would come by my house and spend a day or 3. Miss him very much. Still have their cd's and some vhs tapes I made in polkville ms. They always put on a great show !!
Thank you for posting this. Wes is my grandfather and i haven't seen or heard from him in years. I always wondered how he was doing. Thanks again, Chase
I got some sad news about Wes yesterday, he is on hospice at his home in Missouri. I knew Wes from wintering in Mission, Texas. Everywhere the Cajun travelers played there were huge crowds. I stayed at the same park as Wes, Thomas, Leon, & Charley. They loved sitting outside their RVs & playing music. I'm proud to have known Wes as a friend & will miss him when he's gone.

I saw these guys at a festival in Florida in 2005. They were great. I wish I still had the cd.
