    I learned to sew over fifty years ago, and no one ever taught me not to sew over pins. I've been so confused to see quilters on UA-cam pinning things together and then ripping out the pins before they get to them. What's the purpose of the pins then? I'm glad to see someone else sews over pins.

      Thin pins aren’t as bad as thicker pins- many pins can get bent and machine needles can break. 🎉

      Same here 56 yrs sewing. They started telling sewers to remove pins when the machines were turning computerized and more sensitive.

    So glad I found your channel. I've made many "quilts" but have never "quilted" as I have a basic multi stitch machine. But seeing blocks done this way, gives me the incentive to maybe give a go. Thank you for being so thorough ❤

    I have those pins as well, and I sew easily over them. Once I sewed on a pin, which broke, but the needle was still all right after controlling it

    Good afternoon Nancy, Athena and all, I am not a fan of your football team Nancy, but there again i'm not a fan of our football teams either, but i love your pineapple quilt and it fits in lovely with our Scottish flag of St. Andrew, so it can cheer for him, lol. I don't know why i have not been getting your email's flower this past long while, but your name came up on my play list and i went for it, because i haven't annoyed you in a long time from Glenochil / near Stirling, but would love to see you if you come across ladies, with much pleasure. I love watching and more importantly, listening to your reasoning out at patterns, why making blocks and what to do with them, etc (Yeh, it's that bletherer that used to leave you with a whole day taken up with reading my never ending scroll). Thank you Nancy for sharing with us your talented hands and mind, but also taking time to share what really matters in the grand scheme of things, and what doesn't. Now i'm going to find your missing videos, have fun and crafty hugs ladies, from Norah, Glenochil, Central Scotland

    Morning, just discovered your video. Thank you
    I am extremely new to quilting. My question made candle wicked squares years ago. now, I would like to join with quilting. My problem is that squares are too small, about 25cm to make the size quilt would like to make. I have 16 square candlewick. 16plain. The joining strip , how wide could one use to make bigger . Using one plain square and one candle wick . From SA

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  8 місяців тому

      Hi - they are both good for quilts. The bamboo is better for the environment due to the way it is made, no pesticides (cotton needs lots to grow). the bamboo is much softer but it cost more - you decide :)

      Depending upon where you live as well as here in Australia the lighter the filling the better, but in my native New Zealand, wool or Bamboo would be much warmer.
