maybe because it's the same beat over and over till the end of the song... it doesn't necessarily add something new to the table tbh. if you're into DnB you like it, if you're not, idk what you can pick from it, maybe the vocals
This song is so underrated! Her voice is amazing and the whole song has a really nice and sweet vibe! With that volume up and a better staging it could go through to the final! I really want this to qualify from semi 2!
I really love this. Although the staging is very simplistic, it is still powerful, because she brings so much energy and authenticity. For me this would be an easy qualifier from the weaker Semi Final. I cannot believe that the odds don't have her qualifying.
A bit of me too! I wasn't a fan at first but OH BOY IT GREW ON ME WHEN THE MELODY AND THOSE LYRICS GOT STUCK IN MY HEAD. I've been going through it recently too where someone broke my heart and i'm trying to get her out!
This song is great, Dilja is a great and energetic performer, and DnB is a very pleseant genre to listen to which fits the energy of the song. Still, I feel that something is missing, maybe it's bass or maybe there is a lack of layers of instrument to make the instrumental sound bigger.
Hi! Just a quick message to Rachel. Thank you so much for your videos. This gives me a new aspect to eurovision songs. It is so nice to watch a performance and after that see how you analyse the song, so interesting! I appreciate your expertise and your polite British style of evaluating and giving feedback. 😊 So thank you so much! -Eurovision fan from Finland
This is one of my favourites this year, which may be no surprise that I usually like what Iceland brings to the table. Nobody is really talking about this track and I've seen a few comments online from people saying that actually it's one of the most uninspired and/or forgettable songs of the year. In my opinion it's a pretty decent, feelgood, up-tempo tune. I'm surprised more people aren't saying that she's one of the best singers this year because I think she really is. Katla from last year's Icelandic selection is a backing singer here too.
This one has wormed its way into my brain over the weeks. It reminds me heavily of Afterglow by Wilkinson, which I love to bits. I'm always here for more DnB in ESC!
I really love this, I really hope she adds some Icelandic as she performed the entire song in Icelandic for the semi final and I loved it! Also she just released an acoustic version which I really like
ooo no way!! icelandic would bump this up for me; not just because it's nice to see a small language represented but also because sonically I think icelandic lends well to this song.
@@neconeconeco yeah in the Icelandic selection you have to sing your song in Icelandic for the semi final then you can choice for the final :) and I definitely agree!
This song has grown on me. I do find the po po power less irritating than Sweden's Tattoo. Turning up the bass would be a bonus, bc ... bass! 😅 Would love some Icelandic added
@@ThePeaceAround it's drum and bassey like an Afterglow song. She gives me Anne Marie vibes too. To be honest I'm not sure it's a copy of anything but it certainly reminds me of many other songs. Given that these last 3-4 years Iceland has been serving something unique everytime (Hatari, Dadi Feyr X2, and even the sisters last year had a low-key interesting song), this one sounds too generic for Iceland. She serves vocals nonetheless so I'll give her that.
I think this song is slightly generic but Dilja's personality, stage presence and charisma elevate it a lot and I'm totally fine if it would qualify to the grand final. I don't expect any great results though
I thought the bass being low in the beginning helped with the progression of the song but at the second verse, the bass was turned low again and I thought that was a mistake. It dampens the intensity of the song in the latter half. It keeps rising and falling. I do like the beat of the song though. There's nothing much in the lyrics but hook doesn't bother me much. 7/10
It lacks build up, proper staging and she needs to have clearer sections. Don’t get me wrong, I love this song but would love her to make it to next lvl and semi.
Oh my god I'm so excited to hear that you love drum & bass because its my absolute favourite genre! That's so cool. As for the song, I kinda don't consider this one drum & bass, more so electropop that uses the breakbeat. I feel like it lacks the bass and the proper impact of dnb, and the tempo is kinda toeing the line. In my opinion, for a song called Power, this one lacks power. I find it a bit underwhelming and don't really vibe with it. Maybe the fact that I listen to a lot of dnb actually makes it worse for me because it doesn't have the same impact I'd expect when I hear that beat lol. I'm also in the camp that finds the p-p-p-power hook annoying unfortunately. It's not bad though, I think in my personal rankings it scrapes through as a qualifier for semi 2 so I wouldn't mind seeing it in the final.
This song couldn't be more typically "Scandinavian Eurovision" if it tried, I feel. They know what works by now. I'm not all that taken with this song, to be honest. It's just ... another song, like a few others this year. This is one that is only going to be saved in the semi-final by the live vocal and staging. Of the two songs you have remaining at the time of this video coming out, I love one, and hate the other. Can you guess which is which? LOL 🙂
I got more British vibes from this one actually - someone else mentioned that it sounded like Wilkinson ‘Afterglow’. I’m gonna guess that you love Georgia, and hate Azerbaijan?
@@ThePeaceAround How DID you guess? LOL OK, so both of them have "issues", but Georgia is definitely better in my opinion. I'll see what YOU think shortly :-)
Rachel, I’m sorry to comment twice. What genre is this? I’m addicted to this song and I wanted to discover new artists in this same kind of music genre. Do you have some artists to recommend? Thank you so much! ❤
@@ThePeaceAround thank you for the recommendations! I’ve discover a nice set last night: ua-cam.com/video/TRh-amAhOEw/v-deo.html Those guys are incredible. 😊
I have warmed up to it a little bit but I am not a fan of this entry from Iceland. Quite annoying in parts as well as slightly generic and the voice of the singer grates on me. Maybe this is not my genre simply. I can tell it is properly done for what it is but the song itself passes me by completely.
I really like her voice she has very good control of her voice but I don't really like this type of music and I don't like the po po po. Her stage presence is really good too.
I can't get into this one, I'm afraid 🙁 I think it's bland as drum and bass songs go, and as you suggested the "pa-pa-pa power" line feels irritating to me, indeed. BUT, Dilja herself is very talented (great energy and range) and I can see this song having an audience. And as a song there's nothing overtly wrong, so I guess it's a real "you like it or you dislike it" situation.
I didn't care for the song until I heard it live during the Polish ESC Preparty (there are clips on YT from the audience). She has amazing live vocals and since she was standing and dancing, the performance had much more energy than the national final. I still hate the instrumental in the song. It does absolutely nothing for me. Just some basic syths and fake percussion, and no musical development over the song. I wished they rearranged it and gave it a revamp to actually make the song reach its potential.
Song does nothing for me I'm afraid. I don't like the soundscape/ mixing - the vocals are too loud/ dominant and the chorus very bland to me. The whole 3 mins just comes and goes without me feeling anything/ no connection. I don't like the P P P P pick up a penguin bit either - seems contrived to create something for eurovision. Dilja seems a great person though and obviously super talented.
I love the melody in the verses but can't stand the melody in the chorus. Yes, it's irritating and too dated. I don't like the po-po-power and I don't like Loreen's o-o-oh's. Dilja however has a voice and personality that makes the song ok to me.
Isn't this yet another `Warrior pop` song. When she sings `Power` she might as well be singing `Warrior` or the strongest of this sub-genre `Unicorn`. Let's be honest we've heard it all before and 2023 will be the year this sort of song hits a brick wall.
The music track sounds like those moments they insert during a training video to punctuate, and to stop one's mind wandering. Vocal is too eager and too little Edgar.
I really hope she ditches the whole 'singing while lying down' thing because I think it really damages her performance. It sounds thin and strained. Other than that, I find it to be a very nice song, love her energy

I agree! It’s my 5th and with good staging could even get higher!
Because it's a bog standard song
True 👍👍👍
Love this song and Dilja. My top 5
This song is so underrated! Her voice is amazing and the whole song has a really nice and sweet vibe! With that volume up and a better staging it could go through to the final! I really want this to qualify from semi 2!
This song is so damn catchy! I really love belting this out when I'm driving
So underrated 😢
Happy Easter, Rachel. Enjoy your time off :)
This is the only song that I keep listening on repeat countless times in my playlist sooo yeah I LOVE this
I really love this. Although the staging is very simplistic, it is still powerful, because she brings so much energy and authenticity. For me this would be an easy qualifier from the weaker Semi Final. I cannot believe that the odds don't have her qualifying.

I love listening to this song when I’m coming home on the bus after a day at work. It cheers me up.

I was going to say as well, she is one of the strongest live singers this year! She can really belt out the high notes so well 🎶
Still better than tattoo

Icelandic lyrics added in :)
Excellent reactions ❤❤❤
My issue with this song is its predictability. It's an earworm alright but I can't help feeling like it's a song I heard before elsewhere.
Someone else mentioned the likeness to ‘Afterglow’ by Wilkinson haha

Similar powerful forward mix and as Jessie J.

I think she's leaning on that hook way too much. It gets way too repetitive for me.

Idk the song feels like its being dragged through the mid tempo mud by this beat... Kinda flat for be despite her giving her most
