This teacher's excellent! I'm starting to teach Chinese to English speaking kids and this teacher's way of starting is thought-provoking! Thank you for sharing!
IN MY OPINION, THIS IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO TEACH A LANGUAGE. SO WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. IT'S TOTAL IMMERSION: THERE'S PRACTICALLY NO ENGLISH BEING SPOKEN. THE TEACHER DIDN'T REALLY NEED TO ELICIT THE MEANING OF THE CHINESE WORDS IN ENGLISH. THE STUDENTS WOULD HAVE FIGURED THAT OUT THEMSELVES. 2. HAVING THROWN THE STUDENTS IN AT THE DEEP END, HE USES GESTURES TO ENSURE THEY DON'T DROWN. EXCELLENT. 3. HE'S REPEATING A LOT. EXCELLENT. 4. HE'S INVOLVING THE STUDENT. THE STUDENTS ARE USING CHINESE WORDS FROM DAY ONE. HOW GOOD IS THAT? I WOULD GO AS FAR AS TO SAY THAT 99% OF THE MANDARIN COURSES ON UA-cam ARE A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. THE TEACHING METHODS USED ARE VERY POOR AND SHOW THAT THE HOSTS/TEACHERS HAVE VERY LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OF LANGUAGE LEARNING. I'VE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE TEACHERS OF SUCH COURSES ARE MORE INTERESTED IN SHOWING OFF THEIR ENGLISH SKILLS THAN TEACHING MANDARIN.
This method is nothing new. The problem with this method is that it takes ages to learn a language this way. Usually you don't have that much time when you're trying to learn your second and third language.
+Henri Mogaroo Why not? If the teacher is good, they should be able to teach the class in the target language while making sure that the students are learning and using the target language along the way.
+Donez Horton-Bailey i know an app which named "Ehuayu ", you can search it in the appstore, it's very helpful for my chinese learning, you can download one and try it.
There are many factors in studying Mandarin quickly . One place I discovered that successfully combines these is the Magic Mandarin Blueprint (look for it on google) without a doubt the best treatment that I have ever heard of. Look at all the interesting information .
The warmup that the teacher used was exellent to start a new subject and breaking the ice even they learnt new expressions before starting the lesson. That is how a class should start
OMG,it's so fun to watch that.I have been learning English for a long time,And I always want to know how it'll look like if other people learn my native language .He is a great teacher, for real!
Really love this approach, aiming at high school teenagers ! high engagement and interaction with the students make sure that they actually follow the class
I like that he repeats the phases to death. Lol I need repetition. Also he does a lot of hand movements that help decode the words. Bravo. I need this class
Hi, I am Korean and I I study Chinese living in Toronto, Canada. I tried to help my son to learn Chinese so that he can introduce himself in Chinese. We are making some videos but not easy. Thanks for your great videos. 😀
Hi, I am also a Chinese teacher who's still learning how to teach. This video is really helpful! I have a little question though, if this is the first class for beginners, I would assume the students didn't have any prior knowledge of Chinese, so how can they write down the words they hear? Or, what are they writing down? Only the English translation, pinyin, or any phonetic symbol that help them remember the sound? Thanks!
@@11kwright What he said was right. qi3li4 (起立) is the standard way to say it when you ask students to stand up from their seats. It's a different word from qi3lai2 (起来).
Is this the first day of class? I am thinking about taking Chinese this semester at my local Community College. I am a non-traditional college student. 69-years-old! 😯
I would at least like an introduction in English and an explanation of Chinese being a tonal language and the different tones.. does he ever speak in English? Or is it one of them it's in the book teachers ?
Hi, really really nice, I would like to know the name of this school and teacher. I want to travel to china and learn chinese. PLEASE THE NAME AND ADRESS OF THIS SCHOOL
If you want, I can teach you Chinese. I star learning Japanese by myself, we can help each other. But to be honest, I think Japanese is really difficult😕…As a Chinese, some Chinese characters in Japanese i can understood, but Katakana It's really hard.😵

Not necessarily from mainland China. It's common to learn Chinese in any accent without stepping one foot in the mainland and having a profound deep respect for traditional characters. I learned "standard" putonghua in Texas and learned simplified, but now I write and read mostly traditional characters. People assume I'm Taiwanese or from Hong Kong, but I'm simply a sinologist born and raised in Texas.
作为一个中国人,我很开心看到你用地道的普通话传授给他们如此生动的语言环境,如果需要帮助,我愿意贡献力量❤
That kid showing up late and not knowing what’s going on is so relateable

he is a very good teacher.
我是中国人,我觉得这个老师很有耐心,反复的重复,教的很不错,我这周也会去美国的学校教孩子们说中文,我来学习老师的方法❤😂🎉
As a Chinese, I have to admit that the teacher‘s pronunciation in Chinese is better than mine. :-(
请您不要妄自菲薄
身为福建人我坦然接受了这点. 6_6
中文发音真的很标准
+Zhihang Tu 原来是胡建人哈哈
哈哈哈哈哈
I kinda want this guy to teach me Chinese. He seems brilliant.

Can you please upload a new other chinese class??
I really enjoyed this class.
Immersion is the best way to learn a language

Obviously. Unless you've grown up in certain places in China then that's how Chinese is taught through all parts of the world.
This teacher has great pronunciation!
Indeed has very good chinese accent
I’d be pretty pissed if in my first day of class i had to do 40 squats
It's so interesting to see a white Chinese teacher teaching Chinese.
His chinese is really good though

This teacher is great! I love it! Could you give us more video of the class?
This is amazing!
He is such a great teacher! I am inspired a lot from this class. It is sublimely awesome!
Total physical is a brilliant way for older learners, well demonstrated, well done!

He gave them a piece of paper Chinese words on it so they wrote the English translation beside it
i like the layout of the classroom, as a U-shape, instead of the rows.
After suffering in English for 12 years, I finally see something in reverse :))) The instructor is really good!
I wish there was a part 2, 3, 99 of this. Love it.
Wow this was amazing! those are the teachers that make school time great!
as a chinese teacher,it is good,His chinese pronunciation is really standard!come from china
no even one english word during all lesson, i cant do it, imean my students will be complain
沉浸式教学嘛,更有效果,也更有趣。另外老师的中文实在是标准啊
Can anyone provide the teacher's name or a link to other of his video lessons on UA-cam? I'm not finding any other ones on this channel.
welshgabriel 你好,
Teacher of the year material right there 💯
Oh my goodness i really like that teaching style. I wish i would be in that class.
So wonderful! I wish I could watch those classes.
the teacher's Chinese pronunciation is perfect.
excellent!where can i find his other courses
大家都在感慨老师教的好,作为中文老师的我,只觉得这个班纪律真好。再好的教学方法,没有一个好的纪律,都完全不起效果。
真的是,是不是因为录像啊。。
這是大學課堂,課堂紀律肯定勝過高中,畢竟學生都成人了
5:01 teacher is like ohhhh thank God I don't have a dumb class this time!
He doesn't have to say teacher as "Lao shur" he can say "Lao Shi" he is just using a northern accent
But what he says is "lao shi" to me. I've never heard anyone say "lao shur" in my life.
Sun Li ... and he doesn't say stand up properly. It sounds like qi3li2 when it should be qi3lai2. GET IT RIGHT!!!

If I am not Chinese educated..I will be having tough time picking up
老师发音真标准,好想看后续哈哈哈哈
