They’ll probably add two variants. The first will be a Gripen A with a limited load out (most likely just Rb.74 and Rb.99) while the eventual Gripen E will have its full load out of Rb.98 (IRIS-T) and Rb.101 (MBDA Meteor).
The gripen E is way too advanced for like maybe even next year, plus the viggen he is using in the footage was designed to hold the aim-120/robot-99 so im not sure why they are holding back
gripen C too, also gripen As loadout wouldnt be limited, it could never carry amraams in the first variant which is why the D viggen existed, as a stopgap till they got the C gripen which got amraams
Not sure the typhoon with 13 hardpoints and weighing almost 80% more than the gripen can really be put in the same bracket of light multirole but body positivity I guess
Maybe if the Gripen is limited to holding Skyflash missiles then we could see it by the end of the year with planes such as early F15's and Su27's. I still think it's really early for the Gripen though especially since that's really the last available Swedish airframe. Every subsequent Swedish plane will be a variant of the Gripen. Also the Viggen could hold amraams in later forms so adding a Gripen before that Viggen would be shocking. There are other options for the tree such as a J35J, AJS37 and maybe a Mig21 with even better missiles for Finland. Eventually well see an F18D for Finland too but id put that in the same boat as the Gripen.

Yes if Gaijin doesn't know what they are doing, no if Gaijin knows what they are doing. The best thing they can do is to give Sweden the pre-production or early model of the J39 Gripen. This would give it a lack of many of the advanced avionics the later Gripens have. Then, for the missiles, the best thing Gaijin can do is to limit its loadout, like what they were doing with the F-14. Don't give em super missiles like the MICA or the AMRAAMs, just slap to this early Gripen some Rb74 and shouldn't hurt too much. As the game progresses and we slowly move to more advanced F-16s, Mirage 2000 with AMRAAMs and MICAs, then we can introduce more advanced Gripens, like the C.
I would say that highly depends on the version of the Gripen and then the armament for it we will get. I wouldn’t have a problem with an early version Gripen-A and an AIM-120A, however anything newer would be a problem because that would mean it would get Meteor and IRIS-T Missiles. The Meteor would be problematic due to its massive range of up to 110 nmi and even worse its no escape zone of 32 nmi. The IRIS-T is problematic because it is so agile that it can engage targets in a full 360 Degrees Sphere which means you could fire it at a target directly behind you. On the other hand the implementation of the Gripen would mean an implementation of newer Russian gear and that’s the biggest problem because Russian missiles even from the 80s would in most cases outclass every other missile from the same time period. The AA-12 Archer for an example.
the AA-12 is the R-77, the archer is the R-73 the IRIS-T is significantly more advanced than early versions of the R-73 and the Meteor is miles ahead of both the R-77 and the AMRAAM
i was slightly worried we were gonna have another mirage 3 type situation where everyone moves on leaves Sweden and France in the dust but nice to know at least Sweden is covered for the future
Once Fox 3’s become standard for top tier, every other jet will instantly become obsolete. The only way I think these weapons can come to the game without throwing all balance out the window is if they totally overhaul how the BR for aircraft are generated-they need to make the BR dependent variable n the weapons being used rather than the airframe they’re on. The weapon selection brought into the match must be determined before match making. This solves multiple issues as well since it means that aircraft we already have that are capable of using more advanced weapons can get those weapon systems with their BR’s changing slightly to reflect the advances in their capabilities. Further, this change would alleviate the absolute garbage BR bracket around 8.7-9.7 where jets without countermeasures are facing all-aspect missiles with 30g’s of pull.
It would be completely fine by me if they add a prototype now with the Rb-71 but only if it gets actual datalink. Since only the gripen wiuld have an actual datalink it would only be able to share information with friendly gripens but still. Or they add it when the Rb-99 comes

Players overestimate the aim-120 and R-77 a bit. In DCS:World, the R-27ER is a longer ranged missile than the R77 and Aim-120. Adding those won't even change gameplay much. THE THING IS. Fox 3, and I mean decent fox 3, will change top tier gameplay. People will fire missiles and turn away. But everyone will do it.
Aim120s are also not hard to defeat if you don't let someone launch on you within 10 NM or so. Just like warthunder, notch/go cold, use terrain, etc. Just gotta know how to deal with it
It isn't just about range but agility too. The aim120 is capable of pulling 50+ G's. Not sure about the r77 as I can't find anything about how much it could pull anywhere

The Gripen excel in the eletronic warfare but that is not implemented in the War Thunder, the radar is going to be really good and it is really good in dogfight, i dont think is going to be OP but its gonna be a very very good plane

Gaijin could add jets like the F18 and Su tomorrow if they wanted too and it wouldn't be OP as long as they only gave them the missiles we currently have in game line the Aim7F and 27R. It is not the jet itself that is powerful, it is the missiles and EW packages that make it powerful. Since we don't have the MAWs, advanced missiles or ECM jammers a modern aircraft would be like another we have in game
I think people dont consider how these aircraft ruin grinding players, for instance Im grinding USSR top tier and with my Mig21 BIS I already have a tough time against MIG-29s, F-14s and F16s, they have the better and longer range missiles not to mention better performance, if we keep adding things to compete with that without decompressing the BR its gonna get to a point where you cant grind without a premium acc/jet.

At this point in the game.... JUST ADD SH*T. Been playing since late 2016/early 2017 and play mostly top tier, just add stuff man... Figure out the balance later like on dev server how they nerfed/suppressed the 29 and the F-16 at the beginning. Then can slowly get it to its "realistic" flight model and eventually loadouts too. Especially smaller nations, need more 4th gen to make the smaller trees more appealing. Copy paste F-16s aint it. I play mostly all nations and got top tier air every nation except for Israel and i feel they just should add stuff even like aircraft that wont be meta. Yak 141 was cool. Hope to see other planes like even an SR-71 would be wicked. Then for the love of god, make ARB better. Bring back ARB EC and add planes that have radar for your team like DCS in their fighting modes. Would be more fun on bigger maps and keep the game more engaging. War Thunder just doing bare minimum for years and stretching things way too far out... JUST ADD STUFF
Its funny how you were thinking a mig25 was coming and as I told you they are progressing in planes through 4th fen fighters and multirole fighters so your mig is never coming thank god. That's going backwards honestly as I said f15 and su27 are next for the major nations it's the only thing that makes sense anything else would make 0 sense and wouldn't fit in the current meta to add a 1960s plane such as your mig25

As for their ground they have a lot of good vechiles but practically all their good vechiles are either finikky or just don't have a logical lineup but their top tier is just a better german tree so what can I say there. From what I know, non of the avionics are improved for the Viggens So the rest of the Viggens probably would just come out with better missiles which is not hard to add ingame
Only the DI, but the only difference between the D and DI was that the DI had international measurement units for the instrumentation. Along with the tactical interface that got installed in Gripen (that most of the D variants got)

But you don't need to keep lock on for the entire time witb 77 and 120. Atleast till it is 15km from enemy

Hopefully they don't. The last thing this game needs is more lend lease vehicles from Russia and USA. They need to diversify the pool if vehicles.

The Gripen wont be added soon, there are 2 more variants of the Jaktviggen which boost the planes performance quite alot, they wont skip them.
