Would you call this a *valance* or *window trim* ? I've been getting both and not sure how to best present the video title. Thanks for watching and consider *subscribing* !
Another possibility- buy a baseboard piece from Home Depot then cut to fit across top of blinds. Paint with color of choice. Purchase super magnets and double stick heavy duty Velcro. Place magnets on back of wooden piece baseboard piece. using the Velcro to secure them. Place another set of magnets on front facing side of blinds (if metal) and distance them to line up with the magnets on back of wood piece. Place your new valence on top of blinds so magnets line up and you’re done. This is only if you want a valence to cover the metal mechanism at the top of the blinds and don’t want the valence to extend beyond your window width.
By filling in the top, as well as the appearance benefit, you would also get the energy saving benefit of interrupting the convection currents over the cold glass surface.
Nice simple idea however I would be concerned that since you nailed the trim valance board up it will be difficult to remove the blind for cleaning, replacement, etc.. In other words, it will be difficult to remove the blinds. One of the comments below had a good idea of using baseboard combined with magnets on the back side that would work well on blinds that have a metal head rail.
You did a great job showing how easy it is and they look great! Very nicely done. How many days did you have to sleep on the couch after pretending to aim the nail gun at your wife? Dont say None, we dont believe you. LOL
Haha there was a lot more of the reaction that I edited out. I ended up sneaking into my side of the bed after she fell asleep 😂

Hello my friend. The idea of a simple but beautiful window trim. Flashy and decorative. congratulations. Always good job. good ideas. Great greetings....Do not do this, your partner is calling :-)
Good job, but we can do without the annoying noise in the background that you may call music! Oh and I almost forgot, thanks for showing that everyone does not need to have fancy equipment to do these projects.
If you use the magnet method there is nothing to do but take it down as there are no nails, screws or anything. Number of magnets needed will depend on how wide your window is and how heavy the piece of wood you chose.

I realize I'm 3 years late to the party, but around here it would be called a cornice. Good job! 👍
@@captbill 3 years later and I still appreciate the comments that teach me something! thank you

This is exactly what I need for two windows in my house! Thanks for a quack and easy solution!
Thanks mate👍 short crisp no nonsense video with a simple hack.

The best part of the vlog was "don't do that." The installed valance looks nice.
The finished valance looks amazing, especially with the rail and curtains.
Thanks, It definitely covered up the ugly brackets.
Looks so much better and is such a simple fix...nice job!
Super quick and easy! Should've made it a 1 minute video lol.
Thanks!
Great idea for a diy valance!!!
Thanks! I'm stealing "valance" to use in my video tag words lol.
@@KellyConcepts stealing is a strong word..LOL...I think Merriman-Webster can give you that word for free :) have a great day!!!!!
Great work. Can even make it fancier if you have a router + router bit sets
Nice and Simple. I might do that to my house someday.
Definitely give it a shot. Buying the wood brand new and a little bit of paint is about $5 a window - so not bad.
I’m on your wife’s side “ don’t do that “ 😂😂
You are a pro. Can't wait till I tried it.
yeah we all have hd to deal with those types of blinds. Thats a quick and easy way to hide the top and make it look a lot better. God tip!
Thank you, yea we definitely needed in the kitchen, it's the first thing someone sees especially with the light right there.
Looks good. I have a few blinds around the house that could use a valance. Looks like a pretty quick job.
Yea it was pretty quick and cheap, but can clean up the look of a room. Thanks for watching.
Try the magnet method I mentioned above- no tools needed & very inexpensive
Nicely Done SIR!
I appreciate it!

Haha yea she did not like the nail gun. Thanks!
👍
😃
I like how is looks but that is permanent. I was hoping you were making it easily removable in case you had to remove the blinds.
Nice look. I hope u don't have tp change the blinds since you made them permanent and not removable.
I think if you pull on them hard enough they would come down.
That part where your wife says “don’t do that” lol my wife does that all the time and I keep explaining to her that it won’t shoot 🤣

ALLWAYS PRIME RAW WOOD!!!!!
The problem with this approach is then you have to rip them outta the wall to change out the blinds…

I hope you're a DYI'er not a carpenter
