How to Make a Cheap DIY Window Blind Valance!

- In this woodworking video, I’m going to show you how to make a cheap DIY window blind valance trim piece with this step-by-step tutorial. This DIY home improvement project really adds a custom, expensive look to your blinds. Installing my own blinds saved literally thousands of dollars. Plus the custom wood valance is even nicer than what I would have gotten if I paid someone to do it. This sort of window trim really makes your house look more expensive and adds a custom home look.
I got all my materials from Home Depot for about $50. Then I ripped down the wood on my table saw and then cut it all to length on my miter saw. Next I assembled it all with wood glue, CA glue and headless pin nails. Finally I primed and painted the valances. Then all I had to do is nail them in place and fill the holes.

Nice work Travis. I like this idea as I even find cheap valances with more expensive blinds. To save on painting I like going with the white primed pine boards.
Ya, I usually do that as well, but in these small quantities, I just went to Home Depot, and their selection of primed pine was not good.
Love the look of the blinds and the valance is beautiful! Great job....
Thank you!
I love this so much BUT I have trim around my windows. Any suggestions??
You're lucky! Window casing is much nicer than what I have. If you want this look, you can remove the top piece of trim, cut the side trim with a multi tool and then add something like what I have here to the top. Send me an email if you have more questions. howidothingsdiy@gmail.com
You made it look super easy! Beautiful work
It really wasn't that bad! It's a fun DIY project. Thanks for the comment!
@@HowIDoThingsDIY I may be trying it soon myself also
@@ramonsalgadors1030 Just be careful, and take your time. Check to make sure the blinds will still work with a board in that location above the window.
