Hey Dave, I love your channel, I GRE up as a kid in the 70s and 80s, and I tell my daughter it was the best time in the world to grow up. We weren't saddled to it phones and all sorts of gaskets, the most important thing is that we played outside, I grew up in North Carolina, the woods were like jungles and our lives revolved around them, trails, forts, etc. I hunted for arrowheads in the tobacco fields, and learned about historical things firsthand, and yes, we had the best TV shows, so thank you for bringing back great memories!

@@robertlawrence4719 What made me mad was that they didn't even have original stuff for them. In one of the episodes they literally ripped off the script of Carnival of Thrills where Bo and Luke fought over Diane but just did the same damn thing with Coy and Vance (fighting over a girl). And their acting was abominable!
I remember back in 1998 when my brother and I were teenagers we would come home from school and watch the Dukes of Hazzard on TNN. So we were watching and loving the show then suddenly one day these two different actors just showed up in the opening credits. They were Coy and Vance and my brother and I were so confused. Back then we had no internet access and could not get any info as to why these two men replaced Bo and Luke and we just had to watch the episodes and deal with it. One day when they got to Season 6 I was so happy to Bo and Luke back on the show. Then I understood. Some years later as I watch this show on DVD now Coy and Vance did a great job with the show. They made it their own for one season.
Thanks for sharing this video about one of the best shows ever on TV. This was a great time for television. Every Friday night, my husband and I would go to our mall and shop a little , then we'd go to his mother's home and watch the Duke's and Dallas. Those were the good Ole days. I miss those good programs. We had our own television, but he enjoyed sharing his time with his mother while watching the shows. Sadly she passed away last March. She is terribly missed. I would love it if the shows could be repeated. Have a wonderful day. ☺ 😇
The Incredible Hulk scared the crap out of me first time I saw it and the Dukes had all us kids huddled on the floor in front of the TV a hootin and a hollerin'😂🤣😃 Two of my favorite shows for sure.
@@VAHOSS That's fan-boy BS, they were fine. If they'd been the originals and were replaced by John and Tom you'd be saying the same thing. It's just cause they were first.

Fun fact about the animated version - if you pre-ordered it when it was released on DVD in 2011, James Best would sign it :) One of my prized possessions to this day.

I loved that line-up! Well, at least the first 2/3 of it. I think I was probably just a bit too young for Dallas. Plus, my parents were always threatening me with bedtime if I stuck around to watch it. :)
You are correct - one of television’s legendary line-up’s! Remember how you couldn’t wait for next weeks episode and the agony of a season ending?!!! Yes, the good ole days! Then again, the three show line-up, mentioned, was only legendary, because other days, could be kind of terrible - especially Monday night!
Hey Dave, thanks for another great video about my favorite show. I been lucky enough to meet the entire cast except for mr. Pyle. I also have been lucky enough to get to know some of them a little more personally through the years and one of them was Byron. He is a true sport. I was privileged to get to work with him at a few shows in Canada called "Hair dare" Byron told me that both he and Chris were told to act just like John and Tom. Byron wanted to not act that way but at that time it was a pay check. Byron even admitted that their performance sucked because they were forced to act that way. He's been takeing the flack all these years very well I think. I used to believe that John and Tom just got greedy and left a few years back John was addressing a show he was at stateing it went down that they were re negotiating, Warner brothers was makeing major bank on their likeness, and the toys. All they wanted was a percentage of that income. Warner brothers got all worked up about it, stateing that they could be replaced. It was a heated argument. They called their bluff and walked. It's very sad that a company thinks their consumers are so stupid that we would'nt notice a difference. John once said in a documentary that the reason why Dukes was so good was the chemistry between the main cast. I believe he was right. It was just a perfect match of people, the car and stunts just made it just that much better. I still cant believe the amount of hatred die hard fans have against coy and Vance. Yea I admit they sucked, but their still part of dukes history. Byron told me the scene when They were leaving in that mustang, 1st they were on a inside set, 2nd once they went off camera in the car. The scene was cut, immediately they were escorted off stage by security. Then that was it. They were on contract so they couldn't work anywhere else. He said that they might be called back in case John and Tom quit. Once they left the stage he said they have'nt seen the rest of the cast until the dukesfest shows started. Man thats cold. Then in the early years of Dukefest back when the clubs were on forums instead of facebook. I remember a lot of people were trying to Keep Byron and Chris from comming. I'm glad things have cooled down a bit. In fact Byron made a cameo in Johns movie Christmas cars. It was really good. Thank you again Dave

I wish we could find a way to brink back the cast to redo what Warner brothers screwed up in the 2005 movie that was horrible I wished I never seen that it just ain't Dukes without John and Tom And Cathy and gang
The Dukes of Hazzard episodes with Bo and Luke has been my favourite TV show since childhood. Unfortunately their ''replacements'' were never that to me and I was very thankful when John Schneider and Tom Wopat returned! Dave that's so fantastic that John Schneider saw your video and messaged you.
One thing about the fifth season that disappointed me was we only got like 6 episodes with the Enos and Cletus duo before Cletus disappeared. I feel like we could of got a lot of fun out of them riding together lol
I remember this happening. I didn't like that they'd changed the actors. My mother told me how horrible the acting was in comparison to Schneider and Wopat, and in the reruns, I had to agree. I kept watching, believing that the originals would return. I always thought of this show when I found out that teenage girls had divided into two camps for the Twilight movies, Camp Edward and Camp Jacob. While it wasn't as popularized, there was definitely a Camp Bo and Camp Luke. And do keep making follow-ups, especially when new developments occur. Loved the video! Thanks.
Great video. As a kid i was disappointed when Bo and Luke were temporarily replaced. But i watched Coy and Vance anyway. The real star was the General Lee anyway. :-)
There were a few episodes where James Best AKA Rosco P Coltrane was absent from the show. They had a substitute sheriff but he wasn't the same. I was glad when Rosco returned!
General Chaos yall wont get anywhere in our days with that attitude: Did you just assume that cars gender? .... And name??? And civil war affiliation !!!!!????? MERCY!
Hey everybody, these were two dudes who got an acting job and nothing more. They were not bad people but they wanted to work. I am a big fan of the original duo but I don't begrudge these fellas a job.
They were in a no win situation . The were given no favors by being a copy and paste of bo and Luke. If they were at least given distinct personalities and traits . Maybe fans might have taken them better. Hell could have had 2 extra characters for the rest of the series . As it was , the show runners could not get rid of them fast enough when Bo and Luke returned.
You can actually see the General Lee at the Star Cars Museum in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The guy who owns the museum says they used three cars (I think) for the stunts. My dad asked him if he'd ever driven the car and the owner said that ran like a dream. There's also a place called Cooter's owned by the guy who played Cooter on the show. It's got a museum, gift shop, and go cart track. I've never been there though.
That three-hour block on Friday nights was awesome back in the day. I will admit, I thought it was cool having two sets of Duke boys on the screen at the same time. Falcon Crest would eventually join the fray.
Let me start by thanking you sir for your all your terrific videos that bring back so many childhood memories. I was born in 70 and television was at it's platinum era when I was coming up. Friday nights were a BIG DEAL !!! Me and my mom and my little brother (2 years younger) would head over to my Grandma's and Grandpa's house after stopping by Winn Dixie for the evenings "goodies" which always included popcorn that mom or grandma cooked in a covered skillet on a gas stove. We all gathered in grandma's tv room (the third bedroom) and watched the Duke boys (everyone called the show that I knew) . Every. Friday. Night. From 9:00 to 10:00. Then me and my brother would race off down the hallway to play. My brother was blonde so I graciously allowed him to be Bo. Lol...he deserved it after being stuck as Robin to my Batman all of his life. While we would emulate Bo and Luke and sometimes Cooter, the elders would stay and intently watch J.R. and the rest of the Ewings on Dallas. We got away with alot of mischief while Dallas was on. Lol... Anyways, as an adult I really have to give Vance and Coy credit. It must have been really hard to try and fill those shoes. It was a sad day when Bo and Luke went off to race the General on the Nascar circuit. We HATED Coy and Vance and never truly forgave THEM for Bo and Lukes absence. Also, in our minds the loss of Enos and eventually Boss Hogg had a TREMENDOUS impact on us and the show. The only good addition we felt to the show was more and more appearances of Lulu Hogg and Flash. Also, we grew up. I believe I was 7 or 8 when the show started and 13 or 14 when it ended. It really was a magical time to be a kid though, in many ways. Bo and Luke Duke were a HUGE part of that. I apologise for the long comment, but as I said, your videos really take me back and again sir, thank you
One quick update to my previous comment. Regarding the Incredible Hulk. I wasn't allowed to watch that show. It was banned from our household after I threw my little brother into an antique bookcase with actual glass in its 3, shelf covering doors. My brother got a nasty cut on his arm (thank god that it wasn't his throat, seriously) from busting out one of those panes. I of course was emulating the Hulk. Ahhh....the 70s
Thanks again Dave. Love the Dukes of Hazard as much now as I did back in the 80’s. Dave you should watch John Schneider’s UA-cam channel. Lots of history about the show
Thank you Dave for sharing this great video I really enjoyed it I still remember sitting in front of the TV watching the Dukes and the hulk with a giant bowl of popcorn. Ahhhhhh memories.
I was 6 when the show started and 9 by the time Coy and Vance showed up. Young me knew Boss Hogg and Roscoe were the “bad guys”, and they were, but 6 year old me couldn’t quite wrap my head around why I liked them anyway. It took another year before I got what was going on. “Oh, it’s supposed to be that way. They’re being funny on purpose!” Weird how a young kid’s mind works.
I vaguely remember these two. It's been so long since I've seen the show and most of the reruns only have Bo and Luke Duke in them. At least the ones I'm able to find.
I watched the Dukes Of Hazzard because Catherine Bach being on the show. Because the Duke boys had a fast car. Thanks for providing the info for the departure and return of the Duke Boys. In the early 80's here in town in Corpus Christi, Tx. Someone had customized a car just like the General Lee. We would see it driving around town. Just that it wasn't the Duke Boys that was that was driving it. I guess they kept driving it a year or two after the show was cancelled. That car had loud glass pack mufflers. Who knows what happened to that car it looked exactly like the General Lee. Perhaps they decided to paint it a different color. 10 or 15 Yrs ago they made a movie about the Dukes Of Hazzard, but the movie didn't compare to the TV Series. Thanks Dave for sharing this wonderful video with us. It's great to have a magical moment down Memory Lane
I remember watching it as a kid, and I have a vague memory of Coy and Vance leaving the farm at the beginning of their last episode when Bo and Luke came back. Lugging their suitcases out to their car. You could tell that the actors were really a little bit sad.
And after that scene was filmed, they were escorted off the lot by security and, from what I understand, pretty much ignored by the cast for the next couple of decades.
Yeah, it would've nice to have an episode where Bo, Luke, Coy, and Vance team up to thwart one of Boss Hogg's schemes, and left the show at the end of the episode.
Dave, these great episodes you create always bring me back to my favorite childhood memories. They are done with wonderful good-natured narration. Thank you.
A few yrs ago, i finally got 2 meet the cast...I got a pic with Daisy, Cooter, Bo, Luke, Cletus, Enos, seen Rosco but he didnt want any pics taken of him or with him, they were all gr8..:)
Your videos are the best!!! Yes, I also grew up watching the CBS Friday Night line up, and at 9 (central)pm my parents would join me and my brother in the living room for Dallas
Thanks Kenneth! As I got older, Dallas became more interesting to me...but those first few years, I just wished that CBS would air another episode of the Dukes!
Ahhh, sweet memories. Can remember the end credits, with Roscoe's trademark laugh, being the signal to brush teeth, say prayers, & go to bed. I miss being a kid.
Love this expanded version Dave. I've had the pleasure of taking to John Schneider on UA-cam and Facebook and he is the greatest. He was a huge influence on my teenage years and to this day when I'm wearing a button up shirt my sleeves are still rolled up like he always wore them. My driving record reflects his influence too lol. Coy and Vance weren't bad, but they just didn't have the magic of Bo and Luke.
One of my favorite TV shows. I have them on dvd and I enjoy the episodes with Coy and Vance wish they had been given a better chance. The show was not the same when Bo and Luke came back.

Maybe I’m too much of a purist but I prefer to see a ‘69 Charger that is not a General Lee. Between the number of cars that were destroyed and the over abundance of General Lee replicas, a nice stock ‘69 Charger is very rare.
My first band (that actually lasted 10 years), after quickly becoming home town heros, eventually found that that success was not being had anywhere else. As a result of this we often introduced ourselves (myself and our singer) as the Coy and Vance of Punk Rock..... we amused ourselves to no end with this because we had zero expectations that anyone would get it just like they weren't getting us....it was after all the early 2000s. On two occasions people did get it ( literally two people) and they became fans for life!

Thanks for sharing your memories!
Thank you so much for sharing your memories, Donna! Your mother-in-law sounds like she was a wonderful person.
The Incredible Hulk scared the crap out of me first time I saw it and the Dukes had all us kids huddled on the floor in front of the TV a hootin and a hollerin'😂🤣😃 Two of my favorite shows for sure.
Really, if you think about it, it was a perfect pairing of shows!
CBS: won't meet salary demands
John & Tom: walk
CBS: replaces old Duke boys with new Duke boys
Everyone: WTF?
Ratings: drop
CBS: meets salary demands
I have seasons 1-5 on DVD and to be honest Coy and Vance grew on me. Just as I was getting used to them Bo & Luke came back.
CBS never met the salary demands and they lost their fight with CBS.
When those guys came on, I stopped watching the show.
@@McMahonHater they were trash
@@VAHOSS That's fan-boy BS, they were fine. If they'd been the originals and were replaced by John and Tom you'd be saying the same thing. It's just cause they were first.
It's a shame that there wasn't an entire episode with Bo & Luke & Coy & Vance sharing an adventure. At least we got to see them all in the same scene.
Thank you as always for taking us along memory lane 😁
Coy and Vance: the "New Coke" of Hazzard County.
Ha! That's a great comparison, superdoonz1!
Exactly right. Of course there are alot "New Coke" ideas and decisions everyday.
I was 9 years old and liked Coy and Vance just fine. I also liked New Coke better than the regular stuff (still do, in fact)
@@seanmcgrath3826 fair play to you Sean I always felt New Coke was absolutely gopping though. I'd forgotten about the switch in the leads as I haven't seen the programme since ITV stopped showing it in the 90s and I'd generally stopped watching TV around then also till I got married in the mid 90s anyway.
Savage!
I LOVED Dukes! I especially got a kick out of watching my grandpa and uncle sit and bell roll when they watched with me. Thanks for the memories, Dave! 🤓🖖
John Schneider will always have my respect, never caved to the woke crowd over the flag.
@Maryse Bowen you self hating southerners are a stain upon what great men tried to achieve. then again, from your statement, i doubt an iq of over 75, is in your bloodline.
You're correct. He could have cowered and said "it was a different time". But he didn't. It simply didn't and still doesn't represent what the left says it does. John is one of the few left who has a set of balls.
He's a wise man. He should run for office.
And the thing about John is he is from New York , even more impressive. I’m glad I’m not the only New Yorker to rep the flag .
Why would the actor in a tv show that he didn’t create or write have to answer about anything
Fun fact about the animated version - if you pre-ordered it when it was released on DVD in 2011, James Best would sign it :) One of my prized possessions to this day.
That is awesome, RP! I'd hang on to that DVD collection!
Thanks for keeping history alive 👍🏻 Best show ever

I remember the lineup: The Incredible Hulk, Dukes of Hazzard, and my personal favorite, Dallas. The good ole days.
I loved that line-up! Well, at least the first 2/3 of it. I think I was probably just a bit too young for Dallas. Plus, my parents were always threatening me with bedtime if I stuck around to watch it. :)
@@jdsundstrom I was probably too young for Dallas, too, but that didn't stop me. 😂

Dude, you know your stuff when it comes to The Dukes of Hazzard! If you ever want to talk about the show with me on a podcast, let me know. I'd be honored!

Hey Dave! Wow I'm flattered, never done a pod cast not sure if I'm equipped to do one, as all I have is, a smart phone! Lol I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, possibly in a phone call? Or email. I started binge watching dukes again, it's been a while. Man it's even better now we with all the experiences I've had with the cast over the years. Hope to talk to you soon someday!
I wish we could find a way to brink back the cast to redo what Warner brothers screwed up in the 2005 movie that was horrible I wished I never seen that it just ain't Dukes without John and Tom And Cathy and gang
Also Christmas Cars is great closest thing to Dukes John did an excellent job with his now wife Alisha not sure on spelling
Genuinely thought I'd imagined the two cousins! Thanks for clearing that one up
The Dukes of Hazzard episodes with Bo and Luke has been my favourite TV show since childhood. Unfortunately their ''replacements'' were never that to me and I was very thankful when John Schneider and Tom Wopat returned! Dave that's so fantastic that John Schneider saw your video and messaged you.
Thanks for the great comment, Lisa! Yep. I was excited to see the comment from John on my original version of this video.
Even though Dukes wasn't able still to regain their huge audience the rest of the way.
Thanks.
First Byron and Chris in '83 and then two years later later Sammy Hagar. It sucked to be a replacement in the 80's!
I was always more of a "Van Hagar" fan anyway!
I use to watch Dukes of Hazard when I was a child and loved it!! I have seen the show since then and it is still a classic to me, great video❤️
Great video. As a kid i was disappointed when Bo and Luke were temporarily replaced. But i watched Coy and Vance anyway. The real star was the General Lee anyway. :-)
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, General Chaos!
There were a few episodes where James Best AKA Rosco P Coltrane was absent from the show. They had a substitute sheriff but he wasn't the same. I was glad when Rosco returned!

Hey everybody, these were two dudes who got an acting job and nothing more. They were not bad people but they wanted to work. I am a big fan of the original duo but I don't begrudge these fellas a job.
They just didn't have the chemistry of John Schneider and Tom Wopat!
I don’t begrudge them a job, they just sucked.
I used to have a full-size poster of Daisy on my wall growing up. I think it came in a magazine from what I remember.

Looking forward to another great video.
It was an amazing show for an amazing time. Gosh I miss late 70’s and early 80’s TV. Lol. Thanks for the cool video Dave.!!!
Thanks again Dave. Love the Dukes of Hazard as much now as I did back in the 80’s. Dave you should watch John Schneider’s UA-cam channel. Lots of history about the show

What a fantastic insite.
Thankyou Dave.
Wonderful video, very enjoyable to listen to
👍
They should have let coy and vance do the whole episode with Bo and Luke.
Yeah. That was a great Friday night line up. My sister and I watched the first two and my mom shut everything down for Dallas.
Would love to have the Coy & Vance lunchbox!!! xoxo The Clarences
I met John Schneider at a Comic Con and talked to him about weight lifting, college sports and a bunch of other stuff. He's Awesome.

I miss the Dukes of Hazzard. I always watched on Friday nights. Popcorn every Friday night.
I miss it too CMT used to show the shows, but they chopped them up cutting out parts that showed top of General Lee.

They definitely were not Bo and Luke, but they did a good job in a crap situation. The best actors in the world couldn't pull that transition off.

He was a huge influence on my teenage years and to this day when I'm wearing a button up shirt my sleeves are still rolled up like he always wore them. He proceeds to pull the arrow from his leg. The Hulk runs into the woods never quarrel with the Dukes again. A friend of mine had an older brother who had a giant Daisy poster on his wall I would go over to his house just so I could stare at it
My first band (that actually lasted 10 years), after quickly becoming home town heros, eventually found that that success was not being had anywhere else.
