Hell, my own childhood home is probably valued at way less than 200k right now, that's true for a lot of us from developing countries. Also, I think there's a very good case to be made that there is a housing bubble going on which is why prices are so outrageous. That being said, it seems a bit pedantic to imply this a US only problem when this bubble is present worldwide, ESPECIALLY in developed countries; among which the US isn't honestly even doing that bad comparatively.
