What a genius Handel was to bring to your heart the suffering of Christ in such a beautiful but heartbreaking way. Goodness me, I have just read that Laura is no longer with us. Thank you for this wonderful performance. I am sure you have now seen Christ in person. God bless you.
It’s so wonderful to hear her lovely voice singing in English! Handel was a genius indeed to put the words of Isaiah 52 and 53 in a most moving work of art that has been loved for centuries!
A perfectly mastered score. That is why she was able to fully surrender her beautiful voice to the feelings for the Savior's suffering. Great hope, but too soon her beautiful eyes went out and her great voice died.
Oh people, Consider Him Who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Such a beautiful piece by Handel and performance by Laura, all praise be to God our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear, Laura..the last few days I've been listening to every single 'He Was Despis-ed opera singer on youtube - many times over listening to the same artist, so, it's very hard for me to choose any favorite - as an artist, you know what I mean, we are all so unique, too unique to compare in any endeavor, there's treasure in eveyone - that said, I find your prayer-song here the most powerfully touching my heart and it opening to my prayers on youtube - I've been praying unceasingly, every second, actually, and your song-prayer has been a blessing I cant find adequate words for - and your facial expressions are as real as it gets - its real alright, and as someone who knows that Heaven is for real, I'll say bye for now and that I hope I see YOU in Heaven one day (i'm in no rush to get there, tho...too much work to do here now).. Love and prayers, a granny
@@szymongorczynski7621 thank you for letting me know about her having passed on!! Yes, sad for those of US who will miss her presence, but, very truly, i say to you, it's a great JOY from where i sit, that she is now at her real home, Heaven! And while i'm awaiting to meet Jesus and my beloveds, and still enduring being here - for truly, this world(?) i'm SO DONE with it, yet, i do endure it in agony for the great evil in it and being heavily persecuted for so many years now, and so, i continue to aim to testify on His behalf, encouraging others as i go along each day, wherever i may be as i go about ....yup, i can hardly wait to be gone from here, and only pray always, that, Jesus USES ME while i endure it, still. thank you for listening to a poor old woman!! 💖😉💖
One stands Prayerfully and Reverently in the Presence of the Divine as One sees with the Heart and Hears with Emotions the Sublime Recital so Beautifully Expressed!!! V. W.
I really love how Ms. McAlpine performed this piece. It means so much to see the emotion on her face as she sings. I don't know how she does it. I particularly like the frustration and perhaps anger she expresses during the "He hid not his face" section which then fades away again in the reflection of His sacrifice for us. Perhaps we can relate with the frustration we feel in this mortal imperfect experience where our Savior continues to be ignored and even mocked, yet when we remember Him and His life our own trials take perspective in view the love He offers.
Great story, good story, painful story, I just wonder whether there was just going to be big supper/jubilation in Heaven for such Victory by Him to accomplish and fulfill and restore humankind back to it's Creator, I suspect angels et al were busy preparing tea, coffee, drinks and MUSIC
Beautiful performance, shame that the organ hasn't been recorded properly. I've never heard it being played on organ, I'm sure it sounded heavenly live!
Isaiah 53 3. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 3.
Poor A-Bra-Ham, not Kosher at all for the Victorians. Although somewhere I heard the royal line is of David, the same as Jesus. Maybe it was an Overpopulation problem. David had many wives and children about 300, wives I believe, as did his son Soloman, the wisest man in the World according to the story.
Thank you, madame. May our Father be praised and glorified for He is merciful and full of love. Thank you, Lord, Jesus !!

My favorite solo in the Messiah, and my favorite rendition. So soulful and moving. I always cry. She is a singular talent, rest in peace dear lady.

Handel is the greatest composer to have ever lived, to him I bow one knee. Ludwig Van Beethoven

Such a beautiful piece by Handel and performance by Laura, all praise be to God our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Baš si lijepo opisao Laurino izražajno pjevanje. Sve dionice su točno izrečene i dinamizirane. Laura je sjajna pjevačica!
Woooooow! The only thing left that I can say is wow!!!!
Laura McAlpine 's performance is flawless and profoundly moving.
Too kind! Thank you so very much!! It is an amazing piece!
yes Dede Bacher, profoundly moving, indeed and I've listened to them all - she's amazingly deeply spiritually moving from where I sit.
Absolutely flawless

This is the very best recording of "he was despised" I have heard. Laura really feels it! She's so into her part and her voice is beautiful.
Thank so very much! It is one of/if not my favourite aria!

Šteta što sam se uključio tek 2023g. A imao sam ju prilikubslušati dok je još bila među nama. Baš sam tužan. Draga osoba!
Great mysic and extraordinary performance ... heartbreaking. Thank you
Dear ones, I received the gift of tears listening to this most sincerest expression. Thank you dear Laura.
A tko nebi zaplakao kada spozna da te mile oči više ne gledaju, i taj lijepi glas se ne čuje.
Awesome piece! Such a touching mezzo soprano! Thanks for uploading!
what amazing insight on handel's part to give such reverent due to the king of kings
I agree. His musical portrayal of the scriptures regarding the Messiah are profoundly beautiful.

Isaiah 53

Do you have the organ sheet music? I am going to sing this in church and the pastor wants music for both the piano and organ.
Laura mcalpine has same tone color of voice as I do.

I have to admit that, although this performance is flawless, I prefer it sung by an alto.
The organ is too much competing with the voice.
