WOW! Thank you so much Fr. Mark for reminding us of God's deep love for us. This last while I've been focusing on all my sins and laziness and I was feeling discouraged. I definitely was projecting this on Jesus. Your homily has lifted me up. I have to be gentle with myself. God bless you Fr. Mark. I'm so glad we can listen to your sermons on line. I love all your teachings. Big thank you!

As The Apostle Paul said, (paraphrased) Judge nothing before it's Time. Forgetting what lies behind me I press forward to the prize of high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I think it was St Anthony who said, "With each fall, begin again."

That these, Thy most precious gifts, may radiate thru me and overflow the chalice of my heart and into the hearts of all with whom I come in contact this and every day, revealing unto them the beauty of Thy Joy, in wholeness, and the serenity of Thy Peace which NOTHING can destroy. BEST homily EVER!! ♥️ Thank you Father Mark for such a beautiful, uplifting and encouraging message. I’m often guilty of projecting on to God how I feel about myself. I must pray for the grace to stop doing this and open my heart wider to the love of God, knowing that I am His beloved child and regardless of how I’m feeling about myself He loves me infinitely. ♥️ “God is love” (1 John 4:8); “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Thank you Abba, I love You too with all my heart, all my soul and all my mind.

After the bread of life discourse where many said "This teaching is to hard for us." Then quit following Jesus. Jesus turned to His apostles and asked "Do you wish to leave me also"? To which they or Peter responded, "Lord to whom shall we go, you have the words of everlasting life". What I have started to do now is after Mass, sit and pray before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle. Our lives are a continual slipping into sin and repenting and confessing. We are all called to Holiness. That is God's desire for us. "Be ye Holy as I am Holy". No we cannot fix ourselves but we can, be as the Persistent Widow and unjust Judge, from a couple Sundays ago Gospel. We can Pester God persistently. He may or may not act as the just judge did by giving the widow what she demanded. But "To whom shall we go if Not to the Lord"
He wants us to be as they say in Texas Hold em! To say "I'm going All in". He wants us to return to Him with our whole, heart, soul, mind, being and strength,. In doing so we have to make sometimes a decision with our mind and not our heart. The Bible says our hearts are desperately wicked. But with our minds we can discern the wickedness in our hearts and choose to say no to the many temptations we face. The first step to getting right with God is seeing that we have chosen sin over Obedience to God. Then to Repent in our minds or choose to turn away from sin and then confess those sins. And I might be wrong in this but I don't think in the act of repentance or turning and walking away from sin, that we need a perfectly contrite heart. Not saying that this is ideal, obviously having a contrite is the ideal. But with our minds or grey matter we can understand our need for repentance and choose to do it even if we arent yet feeling sorrow for our sins. With hopes of softening our hardened hearts being our goal, and one day experiencing true contrition. But in my opinion we can understand our need for getting right with God and choose to try and do so even if our hearts are not perfectly disposed to do so. As they say love is a decision not a feeling. And maybe the same is true about faith. We can choose to be faithful even if we don't feel it. In love people can choose to act lovingly even when reciprocal love is not felt. And just maybe we can choose to be faithful even if our sin has caused a distance between ourselves and God. As Joshua said the the Hebrew people, CHOOSE this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. But do consider going and praying before the Blessed Sacrament and even if you don't feel His presence, know and believe He is there. Perform acts of Faith even if you don't see any progress. Pray daily. It is crucial. St Augustine said (Paraphrased) If you are not praying daily you are not saved. Many many believers of many denominations don't have a daily prayer life. Prayer leads us to better things. God bless. If you would pray for this sinner and my family.

God has nothing against prayers, in fact we are commanded to pray for each other, BUT it is NOT through prayers that we are saved. Take the example of the repentant thief on the cross!
      (Romans 4:4-5)
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith >>is counted for righteousness

Fr. , I think it is high time that those who are in the Catholic Charasmatic movement and in positions of "rabbi" in that movement speak to those who are loudly speaking out against it in public forum. It would help those of us who are both traditional and holy spirit filled to answer and bring peace to those who are being led astray, away from the Holy Spirit of God, Who leads and directs the Church, to have some answers or direction to respond to this diabolical attack on the movement and I believe on the Holy Spirit Himself. We need assistance. Thanknyou Father for putting a rational, true face to the Charasmatic reality of the Church.

Father im a Christian since birth . And today as a mature adult i aspire to be a catholic man . Jesus was a catholic after all . As was hes mother the first catholics st paul another catholic man all the saints and martyrs of the lord are catholics .no disrespect to other denominations i love our church of england its just i dont feel i belong. Also the Eastern Orthodox church. Im so interested in its history and it has been around since the beginning the last couple years ive been torn between the catholic and Orthodox churches the catholic goes even deeper because its in my family ive never felt worthy of being a catholic to be honest and the Orthodox since finding that as a adult in times of my life ive been very depressed and alone has been a guiding light. I know we are all Christians and i see them all as valid i guess its a personal choice we all make as to what brings us closest to god ive been on a long faith journey and if anyone see this id love some advice if u can reply maybe we can talk about it all thanks god bless ✝️ ❤

I’ve heard a thousand sermons just like the first half of this video, but was just saying last night how frustrated I was that nobody seems to be addressing the other half of the situation, and then you did! And you were able to put it in such a way that I couldn’t even come up with myself on how to explain the second portion of this to people!
That it’s not “not loving” - but it IS loving, and it is also HONEST, and REAL, and NOT, “I’m okay, you’re okay, everything is okay,” like you said!
    Perfectly presented! Well done!!!
And thank you so much for sharing this with people like me on the internet so I, too, can now send it and share it with others as well! 🤩🙏

As a secular Carmelite (Third Order) I so often fall into the self condemnation when I fail to do my Evening Prayer, or noontime prayer, and question myself just what kind of a Carmelite am I missing those prayers (which are part of our vocation). And it makes me think ‘if I can’t do even this perfectly’, when I don’t have the self discipline, self control, etc., I just want to quit it all, because I’m not the perfect example of a Carmelite! Thank you, Padre, for taking the scales off my eyes, for I have been blind but now I see. GOD bless you, Padre, today and always.

Jacques Philippe also writes about this disappoinment with us as having much to do with our pride, not a good thing, we should not only not project this on God, but stop it. We need to allow us to experience the pain and be sorry, but not that disappointment. Admit to God what what we are, ask Him to change us and keep peace.

It is true that God loves us, but He also asks us to love Him as a sign of gratitude:
      Deuteronomy 7:9...
Know then that the Lord your God is God. This faithful God >> keeps His covenant and His mercy > those who love Him and keep His commandments

@@mec325 very much a Jewish perspective of an OT version of God. Jesus does ask us to Love God but also love our neighbour. Of course for Christian theology we are to understand that it is not Lord Lord that will save us.
Matthew writes his Gospel directed at Jews, converts etc. What does he confirm for us in Matthew 25?
We meet the Gospels version of the Final Judgement. In it there are many shocks for both saved and damned. Basically we are shown that neither were aware of their state ...but when..? However it is clear that the saved may or may not have even known whom or where Jesus was. CS Lewis argues it well when he notes that good deeds done in love of neighbour are done to God whether we believe in faith or not.
For Christians the good news of the Gospels is that God is Love. That he loves us regardless.... Indeed no matter what we do, think or even end up in..he loves us for all eternity. The greatest mystery of the faith is that we are loved beyond everything...even his Justice. This wisdom is given to us to help us appreciate his mercy which has no limits, his patience which has no judgement, his kindness which has no fury and his love which holds us beyond anything we can imagine.

God does not change (Malachi 3:6A) and neither do His commandments since the Word is God (John 1:1).
There is nothing Jewish about obeying the commandments of God since it is the rule of every man who claims to love God. Jesus said: (John 14:15) If you love Me keep My commandments. (Ephesians 4:5-6) There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all , who is above all, and among all, and in all.

      @@mec325 absolutely!
But on an intellectual and theological level we can appreciate the Bible more if we know something of the history, setting and direction it comes from and points to. For example we must be careful not to take any phrase and latch onto this with no regard for its meaning.
Hence, whilst the ten commandments do not change, their interpretation etc must be updated...no way that most modern people will envy their neighbours donkey for example. In the same way Jesus often put aside the Laws of the Jewish authorities. Laws made for men not men for the law. This brought him often into direct conflict with the religious authorities who held the law was unchanging and must be obeyed absolutely.
So if we take a Christian view what does it mean?
It means we are humble, patient and kindly. It should hopefully mean we love our neighbour, we do not shun them, stone them or place rules that are burdensome on their shoulders. In effect we have a New Covenant not based on the Law as it was in Jewish thinking but based upon doing good and loving our neighbour, thus loving God. If we love Jesus then we will have a relationship ...friendship with him. We become new creatures and whilst we certainly worship still the God of the old testament, we do so in new, modern light that means God has changed the way he wants to be seen, not in fear or misunderstanding but in love and gentleness. So ... i hope this helps suggest what we mean when we speak of Wisdom and true revelation.

(Matthew 5:18) For I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle of the letter will disappear from the law. (Psalms 119:151) You are near, O Lord! And all Your commandments are the truth.
Whether one is a historian or an intellectual does not change anything concerning the validity of the commandments of God. The fact that we no longer travel with donkeys does not change the spirit behind this commandment not to covet the possessions of others. I know you know that and it's that aspect of you that makes me suspicious.
You seek to justify that even Jesus reproved the Pharisee teachers concerning the law, whereas this is not at all the case. What He reproached them for was adding burdens of ''useless rules'' to this law which they did not even practice themselves. The reproach that the Pharisees leveled at Jesus and His disciples was regarding the Sabbath in particular. Pharisaical law had turned the Sabbath into a burden, adding restrictions beyond what God's law said. Picking an ear of grain and nibbling on it while walking along a field should not be considered '' harvesting,'' as the Pharisees tried to categorize it. The Sabbath was not meant to burden people but to lighten their burden.
Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath in that the Sabbath indicates that rest is ultimately in Him. Jesus became our rest when He did all the work necessary for our salvation (Hebrews 4). We rest, spiritually in Him, since what He did for us on the cross (John 19 :30).
God's commandments are quite the opposite of being burdensome: (1 John 5:3) For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. If we believe that loving our neighbor is all that God asks of us, the Bible says that sinners also love those who love them (Luke 32 ; Math.5:46). Love for others must first begin with obedience to God's law. (1 John 5:2) We know we love God's children when we love God and >> do His commandments

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God. This faithful God keeps his covenant and his mercy down to the thousandth generation
TOWARDS THOSE WHO LOVE HIM AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.
10 But he retaliates directly against those who hate him, and he destroys them; he does not differ towards him who hates him, he takes direct reprisals. 11 So observe the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances that I am giving you today, and do them.
