Nice to see many of the original bridges being retained. Gives this railway character and softens the visual impact

l used to drive under that bridge @ 02:15 regularly driving from Bicester to Cambridge via Calvert, Winslow ,Milton Keynes and Bedford many many years ago !! Coming out on the Buckingham - Milton Keynes road . l always thought it was the old Great Central !! Amazing to think trains will cross it again !! l never thought l would see trains on it again !! ( well l might not now as l have been living in Greece the last six years with no plans to return !! ).

A map of the route would have been helpful.

How far of is the tracklaying. From Winslow I read somewhere it wasn't swanbourne five miles from bletchley if true there not hanging about ialso read Grant shapp has given two point seven billion pounds to start the Bedford to Cambridge,

I read on EastWest rail's site tracklaying will be in 2023.

@@johnodell5310 I've watched the video on here and it shows the track over the bletchley flyover heading towards swanbourne it's a disgrace that the bletchley to ayelsbury won't go ahead as all the track has been lifted to make way for hs 2 from Calvert to finmere and beyond following the old great Central route,

@@joginns778 they can probably solve that deficiency by running a shuttle bus service between Aylesbury vale parkway and Winslow.

@@ianhosier4042 it makes you wander if hs 2had anything to do with the lack of funding for bletchley to Aylesbury,it seems a bit strange hs 2 have the track bed Calvert to finmere, with no room to put in a single track for ewr to connect the two town's,

@@joginns778 sad how the evil elites won't fund a useful commuter route yet are happy to pay for a railway that will only be used by the rich few. I hate this wicked world and can't wait for it to end and all those evil people to go where they belong.

Good to see the steady progress, but I swear this station design fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. It's revolting.
However, disgusting "architecture" aside, better a hideous railway than no railway 👍

Nice to see new platforms but surprised no tracks as surely bringing materials in by train is better than cluttering the roads up with trucks?

They need to build the track bed before they can lay the track, and it’s easier and cheaper to do all your earthworks and stuff at the same time rather than having to come back and finish it later

@@chriswoodfield Good update. Looking forward to the next ones, possibly with Engineering Trains working. We are fortunate that the track on the #NorthumberlandLine is already in situ and has mostly been relaid to Passenger Trains Standard. Station work is Commencing, and Reopening to Ashington is slated for winter 2023/24.

I used the original line to get from Bletchley to Oxford in 1966: the two-coach d.m.u.'s didn't see many passengers.

    Will this line be electrified?
Is it build to the larger loading gauge?

    • @chriswoodfield

Way back, the plan was to electrify the line, but that was “moved to a later phase”; which probably means it will never happen!

There is what looks like a footing for a lift on both platforms. I am guessing that there will be an overbridge across the railway with step-free access, via a lift, to the platforms...which must be pretty standard for a station that is located at the bottom of a cutting.
