I've watched this beginning to end about 20 times in the last year when it pops up on my feed, this gets me motivated to build cars and race them WFO! man this is awesome lots of strength in the car but by far lots of skill by the driver. If I ever put a show on like you did, man I would be so proud... Good job!
Very good Demo'er and a great build! It was interesting to see you pick a car and just pound on it relentlessly until you kill it. I mean you would pass on sweet hits to go after your target of choice. Your car played a big part but the driver is why you won. You would place the strongest part of your car right into the weakest part of thiers. Good Derby!
What year and motor is that lumina??? I want one to drive on the streets!! That car seems very solid and safe and the engine,,it took lots of abuse!! Love the video great job driving
im not gonna lie the majority of the success in this video seems more to do with the driver knowing where to place his shots rather than the lumina being a beast i mean fair enough it held up quite well but he just knew where to hit and when to hit it.
That's an invention not a lot of people talk about, get a good 2g carb and a universal plate adapter and all you gotta do is cut a hole in the intake and hotwire the rest :)
I wasn't familier with the luminas but a buddy of mine told me how the manifold is on them it makes sense now that was a nice run I run derbys my self but just 4 cyl classes never have time for big stuff
ya I know nothing about derby. jus been doing it for 14 years. I guess I have a different outlook. I've been around derby's my whole life my dad started wen he was 18 n is now 65. I started at 16 but I've been in the stands all my life before that. I use strategy but I also put on a show
reggie lantagne going into my 5th year. You gotta start somewhere. I ran 10 this past summer. All around Ohio and cleaned house in Kentucky. My family ran for years so like you I've been in the stands pretty much my whole life. Idk what you run but around here a W body is king. Maybe it's just the fact of this guy beating a bunch of decent built Vic's. Yeah we're there to put on a show. But going out to trash a car you have good money in is pointless. Unless your winning something like bash for cash, blizzard bash extra:
Out of curiosity... I know the car is down to bare bones... no AC no radio no lights.... nothing but the engine trans and fans lol... So why 2 optima batteries the red top and yellow top???? Seems like overkill...
I'm a dumb dumb lol... I'm not a demo derby driver... I've helped build a few many years ago... but they were beginner class derby cars... thanks for the response... that makes alot of sense now... I didn't understand it at first lol... we stripped everything to barebones... so more juice made 0 sense to me...
That would be an immediate black flag from me the moment I noticed it. The people in the stands see one person get severely injured, they'll never come back.
+Jordan Scheurer we have a 97 lumina with the 3.1 motor. It was my grandpa's car. He used it and babied it for about ten years. Then he gave it to my mom. The car is in great condition and runs fine to this day. The only thing that went majorly wrong was the altinator. Fixed that and the car is like new.
+Caleb Inabinet being a Lumina it would be 1989 at the oldest? we had a 1989 Mazda 323 that had the other style seatbelts? perhaps it could of been a option? seems odd
This is why full size cars go after the compacts/mid sizes that want to run full size. Embarrassment. He was putting on good hits. Someone should have taken one of the tilted fords and drove right up his ass. Good driving with the w body. I'd wear a seat belt if you were ever to roll a lap belt.
I know it’s a 1 year old comment, but I don’t want anyone to get misled. V6’s DO have 2 manifold thus would have two headers, that’s why My team only puts headers on our Camry 4’s
Ran a column shifter one time and it broke and I cut my hand pretty 10 stitches inside and 10 on the outside bad. I had a flannel on I just ripped a piece of it off and wrapped it up and continued destroying cats
Actually those are battery’s ... yellow and red top optima and one for starter other to run accessories linked together to charge both threw the alternator
@@Jeffcarlson-l4r stand by my statement Optima dosen't consider their products as batteries it's a step above they call them energy cells and the overall performance is way beyond a typical battery and for the most part running an alternator on a derby car is a wishful idea you have to be prepared for the belts to fail from jump street and that's where proper energy comes into play most winning teams don't rely on a alternator at all
Which are outlawed in most derbies. Old Chryslers and mid 70's chevy wagons and caprice are good. Whetever you run if you dont have a SB Chevy in it you might as well not even try.
I can what this driver is doing wrong. He is not using his indicators for starters, or showing any courtesey to other road users. He is certainly not sticking to his designated lane which will infuriate the other drivers. He will never pass a driving test, so please, someone, help him. Regards from England, January, 2024.
that is NOT a lumina!!! a lumina wouldve been pulverized along with you in .5 seconds against those beasts. absolutely no frame to work with, fiberglass everywhere and yea you get the pic. the engine is worth some cash though:)
Obviously you've never wrecked a Lumina.. These bastards are tough! But this is a pretty tame driver too, he's very selective with his hits. The other cars killed each other and he reaped the benefits
Single best derby I've been to in years. Thanks for posting
I’ve watched this video over 50 times an still get excited to watch it every time !!! More videos like this one please

#EXPERIENCEDdRIVER! Lol
He didn't kill it. It was still running perfect
Incredible! awesome driving, and that little lumina is a F%&KING BEAST!!
Didnt you notice all the metal on the inside around the premiere of the doors and the dash ? The doors arent even caved in on it
love all the fucking bud light cans rolling around on the passenget floor hell yeah Merica
this dude knows how to build.
Taught me a lot about how technical a derby can be for an experienced driver
Mad respect! Great build and excellent driving man
Great car and some awesome driving. thats the best in car video ive seen yet. ill definitly be buying a lumina to build.
Awesome video!! that looked like the ride of a lifetime!!!!!
I wished could of seen some of the car doing its work and what it looked like afterwards.....thanks for the video!!!
Deserve the win best video I have ever seen one of my favorite channels just it’s amazing great build I think you should go to like a pro championship
You should start doing some aftermath of the car's?
It's great to see a view from inside!
I LOVE IT !!! THE HAND MOVEMENTS LIKE COMMON MORE MORE!!! LoL Hell yeah man
awsome bro
@brtloc full-size weld at that!! Them cars were hard as hell! He did damn good!
Wow I thought you were going to get killed. Nice Job. Awesome with ride along camera.
Smart driving. And I see you enjoy the occasional Bud Light.
WOW a lot of balls!!!!!!!!!!!! love it.
For half a sec I thought the checkered flag was a black flag. I light weight got pissed lol

Stingya i think it also helped the rest of the guys for the most part seamed to egnore the lumina plus he was able to out manuver them as well
Luminas are hard in the nose stock let alone welded up for a mod show
that and they wont get hot as fast as all the bigger cars
@@kolbyboward7451 actually they do. And once you get a 3.1 hot they blow head gaskets and warp heads.
Very nice driving. What year ?
Looks like fun. I would probably put some foam or something on that brace by your knees. :P
Awesome video
that big of a cage anyone can win lol jk grate video bad ass build
spilled your beer
Nice work if you are going to be in the Oregon fair or fall brawl i will cheer you on man
Kool video and good driving
Where was this at? I wanna see the stands view of this guy dominating
it must be a cool engine I like the truck sound !!!!!!!
3.1l with a old carb bolted to it and straight exhaust
Is that a carb attached to the fuel injection plenum?
Kinda looks like it.
That's an invention not a lot of people talk about, get a good 2g carb and a universal plate adapter and all you gotta do is cut a hole in the intake and hotwire the rest :)
Ouch, no neck brace
to bad your lumina is rusted reall bad in the back
we call that a bitch brace
@@NewGunzSociety I like my vertebrae where they are, thanks.
More like it looked like he was wearing no seatbelt
it's a good thing you had that black car with blue writing on the side as a teammate. otherwise it might have been a different story
That car is hitting hard good driving
Nicely done..
God damn that was impressive
I saw him smoke his shin off his cage...OUCH!!!
Were you using the original 3.1 V6? She stood up well!
That is a 3100 not the same as a 3.1
two batteries? and how much counterweight does the beer cans add?
Man I bet your shin and knee hurts like hell after that,we always put our post above the steering wheel just for that reason
When I did it years ago we were only allowed to hit driving in reverse. I had a 1971 Chrysler New Yorker.
Fellow Derby Driver here. How do you guys reinforce your front fenders, struts, etc?
Where was this taken? Like at a farmers fair?
Anyone know what engine is in it? Sounds beautiful
+I RISE ABOVE 3100
all hail the v six chevy
Just a little six
3.1L v6 good engines shocked the transmission held up tho
so was that the four cylinder or 6? I only see 1 header?
6cyld
I wasn't familier with the luminas but a buddy of mine told me how the manifold is on them it makes sense now that was a nice run I run derbys my self but just 4 cyl classes never have time for big stuff
Do you guys motice the beer can on the floor of the passenger seat
I'm thinking about buying one for Derby. would it be worth it?
Tim Leece yes w-body are great compact cars but check out we crash before you build it great build tips in there

Awesome driving
Out of curiosity...
I know the car is down to bare bones... no AC no radio no lights.... nothing but the engine trans and fans lol...

@@PhelpsPlace8808 so that juice is simply to try to kick the car over a few more times to get the engine started...???
You're brave not having any eye protection dude! Not trying to tell you what to do, but a $3 pair of safety glasses is good insurance don't you think?
And no seatbelt
Carnage Racing No eye protection no long sleeved shirt and no seat belt sounds safe lol
Curtis Mishler He is wearing a seat belt. It the ones that go straight across like when you ride in a older car.
Travis Johnson at 14:40 when he reached though the windshield he isn't wearing one
That would be an immediate black flag from me the moment I noticed it. The people in the stands see one person get severely injured, they'll never come back.
That is one MEAN sounding V6!!! 3.8L?
no its a carbed 3100
yea I was gonna say those had the 3.1. he'll of a motor. mine had 315,000 on it when I traded it in. still ran great didn't leak or use.oil.

+Michael Kuzma dutton glad to hear it I'm hoping it runs many more years
hairmonster12 3.1
this dude has no neck brace or seatbelt he wouldn't be able to race the derby here in Indiana
I think he has a lap belt.
Yea but we're is his neck brace
+Nathan Hearld
we're = we are
+Ordinary Mo I'm sure he meant to say were and his phone changed it like mine just tried to do when I typed this.
not once do you see him unclip a belt of any sort
awsome
are there no seatbelts in demo derbies?
lap belt...
Caleb Inabinet oh ok but not the regular seatbelt? just seems sort of dangerous
canadiancatgreen it's probably an older car
+Caleb Inabinet being a Lumina it would be 1989 at the oldest? we had a 1989 Mazda 323 that had the other style seatbelts? perhaps it could of been a option? seems odd
canadiancatgreen most guys like lap belts

Krystal Nelson gotta catch him first
Beer cans on the floor board, no seat belt. Great derby but cmon man, that’s how people get hurt.
The bigger cars also get hotter faster and easier than the littler cars.
you'd think you'd want to protect the front end of your car man.
Bob Thorp Not in todays world of derbying.
New cars are stronger in the front.
Nice car
yay we winn
good win !
CURT POFF IS MY HERO!!!!!
What engine is in that lumina
The Rebelious One 3.1 flat top
Any chance you'd like to give me some W body pointers? I'm in Ohio and I'm pretty sure your not. Lol.
The dest I’ve ever seen
why only one header
Scooter909 Aj because he piped it at the cross over I would asume

Hit ur shin on the cage ouch
since when dose a lumminna have a fucking carburetor??
lol pay attention at derbies more dude. I run compact weld class and have only seen one guy run EFI everyone elses cares are carbed 3.1s and 3100s
why didn't you were a seat belt
I don’t think the impressive thing is a luminia beating up on big cars. The impressive thing is you ran that entire derby with a column shifter
Ran a column shifter one time and it broke and I cut my hand pretty 10 stitches inside and 10 on the outside bad. I had a flannel on I just ripped a piece of it off and wrapped it up and continued destroying cats

Bet ya your leg hurts after that one
U have a battery hooked to your battery thats hooked to your battery
