The Rock from about 1999 until 2001 had the most powerful starpower in pro-wrestling history. It was insane hearing that reaction from the fans just because some guy shows up, and he could make crowds around the world do whatever he commanded. That's power.

@@swam2922 coz by the year 2000 Austin wasn't there and WCW had already collapsed and there was no rival promotion like WCW for WWF to counter in terms of ratings but when Austin was the face of WWF from 98-99 WWF was still within a war with WCW n yes because of Austin WWF defeated WCW in the war. There is a reason why Austin is the greatest megadraw of WWF and yes I don't hate the rock

The Rock got so big as an actor that he doesn't NEED WWE. That makes Vince McMahon and a few of the higher up people in WWE's front office upset that WWE don't have power over him. He says what he wants, does what he wants, comes and goes like he wants because he is considered one of the top 10 professional wrestlers of all time if not number 1. And he can make millions of dollars for just one movie so WWE hates that fact that he has ALL the negotiating power when it comes to making a contract with him.

It goes to show how much hypocritical Cena is, Rock was minding his own business doing what he normally does time and day that it eats up Cena's core seeing Rock doing more success in the movie business than wrestling, and now today Cena is riding Rock's coattails doing the same thing, why should Cena care what the Rock does?

SAMCON7 hold on everybody, don’t hate so hard on Cena, he was just ignorant at that point in his career as to how much work it was to do a movie. Once he found out he apologized to the Rock very quickly. He’s granted more make a wish wishes than anyone in history (a cause that’s really important to me) so I actually think Cena for all his faults and his assholery to other wrestlers when he was on top (his constant burials) he has grown as a person and become better as he’s gotten older. That should count for something. Yes, we should hold him accountable for the wrongs he’s done in the past, but we don’t need to arbitrarily hate on him for everything. I really dislike how he buried guys when he was on top, it was messed up. But now he comes back to put guys over, i think that redeems him at least a little bit. People are people and make mistakes, no one is perfect and he has done a lot of good in the world in addition to some bad. Don’t pile all the hate on me for this opinion, i’m just trying to be fair.

Cena wasn't saying that Rock can't have a Hollywood career. Rock went seven years without making an actual appearance on WWE Television (excluding the 2008 HOF) and at the time it looked like he was trying to distance himself from WWE by removing "The Rock" from his name (that ended up not being the case later on). Cena (atleast at this point) still comes back every now and then, have a big feud and wrestle while Rock didn't at the time Cena did that interview. Considering that interview was YEARS ago, Cena probably has since changed his view on it.

He wanted to do some tie in at Summer Slam before Guardians came out, and HHH allegedly turned down the offer, thinking that the movie would flop and didn't want to bother with the mess. It plays into the whole Cynicism part this video touches on.

This report just proves how idiotic WWE reacts to when they make someone into a big star and they become too big for them to control. WWE, collectively, are all whiny arses that get butt hurt out of jealousy. It happened when they cut ties with Hogan in the early 90's, it happened with Rock the Dwayne Johnson, and it's happening again right now with Cena.

Jason Jimerson they dont want someone to become more powerful than the promotion it seems. They'll make or break vince's company. With wcw out, he could afford to do this without the repercussions of a Hogan, macho man, bash, hall like ordeal that hurt him greatly.

Professional wrestlers ALWAYS work hurt. Guarantee you, there isn't one single professional wrestler who's never stepped into the ring hurt or sick. CM Punk isn't the first, and he sure as hell won't be the last. Big Van Vader popped an eyeball literally out of the socket in a match and was expected to finish the match, so he just popped it back in and never complained about it afterward. The difference is, Punk pissed and moaned about it, whereas others DON'T.

HHH politics backfired so much it made the Rock the highest earning actor in hollywood in the past couple of years. Kudos to the Rock for not speaking out in the middle of the turmoil. It backfired to a point making WWE for 12 year olds.
If HHH made the Rock a consistent champion from 1999-2001 the Rock might not have thought of leaving WWE early and trying other ventures. In those years HHH was in full control of WWE and was padding his belt wins. I remember the Rock losing to HHH multiple times.

Rick beat triple h few times on raw not much at fully loaded 1998 pov that same yearbefore king of the ring tournament in june 1998 episode of Raw he deftated him
In a triple threat match in summerslam 2000 with kurt angle In Raleph NC and only other time Rock beat triple H was in king of the ring 2000 in a fatal four match triple h then wwf champion against kane and Undertaker when he beat all three men including Vince McMahon or triple h dont remember. Prher thsn that all of Rocks losses with triple h had to do with outside interferences. Without that Triple hbwould have never beaten the Rock. One more time The Rock beat Triple h was for the wwf in the attitude era was in Backlash 2000 at the ppv when Steve Austin was going through neck surgury The Rock battled for the wwf title Rock beat Triple h evening the score as the odds were against him Stone cold Steve Austin came out helped The Rock win. It was all backstage politics to keep guys like The Rock down. Other wrestlers when they tried their luck in Hollywood before sfter wrestling bombed miserable like a box office flop. No matter how many tv guest and appreances and talk shows they went into. The Rock John cens and Batista should do a movie together probabily 4 th edition of expsndables. He tried messing Rocks carrer alright that whole kliq cancer lockeroom but he made alot of money more than some of them he didnt mess up his life snd career with Drugs alcohol or being arrested anytime unlike other superstars he got big in wrestling and in Hollywood. Hes real estaes 3. Homes in Malibu Beverly Hills and Miami got a new movie coming up. I only wish his Rock t-shirts were still available in the market. He made a bit more money thsn Mick foley shawn Muchaels and Stone cold Steve Austin I mean he's loaded. In 2000 during the attitude era triple h definately tried buring the rock like he did for so many wrestlers in wwf tried ending steve Austin only to return months later from neck surgury he made Mick Foley retire him and shawn Michaels both tried buring The Rock like they did so others but it failed as The Rock went to become a big superstar main eventing wrestlemsnia and other ppv events winning titles. In the beginning ge wasnt that popular but I guess he beat Triple on few times. The Rocks timings were good. Rumor has it he might run for president. Triple h and stephanie may be running wwe but it has fallen to the ground like Mona Lisa statue. Triple h
Nxt is crap MTV tough enough was better. Only thong missing was if The Rock had a solid ass whopping with shawn Michaels in the Attitude era or in the early 2000’s. Either at Raw smackdown any ppv events or better around Wrestle-mania it would for the ages. Like if Sting vs undertaker came out. Or even if Sting fought Kane. Instead of triple h cause hhh just buried another Legend. Triple h is jealious of the Rock cause he knew one day ge would be a bigger star than him or he would get more title shots then him or become a bog moviestar i. Hollywood grossed to a billion dollars. Triple h only became big because of Carrying shawn Michaels jockstrap DX and marryed Vince McMahon daughter if he hadnt dine that this asshole would’t be where he is today. There was a time when Vince McMahon was screwing with triple h alot. Only wish Rocks wrestling a career was a bit longer. The Rock vs Sting would have also been the best or him and Rey Mysterio in my book Ray Mysterio was better in Wcw than wwf period. Did anyone notice that The Rock in his prime looked a bit like Giant Gonzolas. Imagine if The Rock and steve Austin teamed up to fave Triple h and shawn Michaels during the attitude era.

Since wcw was gone there was no major promotion for The Rock to go to and help beat wwe. I don't think Vince wants another Hogan, Austin, or Rock since they kind of make or break the promotion that made them after they reach a certain level and become more powerful than the company that made them. They get the upper hand if so and the company evolves around them. It would be cool if the Rock would have bought TNA and put it on competition level with WWE. Not completely sure about the contract speculations but I’ve been a passionate supporter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson since I was 6, he once informed in an interview that he quietly walked away where he wanted to find more success and that is admirable trait. Vince also mentioned when a kid grows up it leaves the house and wants to live independently. Dwayne achieved whatever he wanted to in the WWE and he wanted to grow in his career as an actor. His contract expiring was a Happy coincidence and if Dwayne needed to renew it, he would have, but he didn’t Rock the boat. He wanted to do it on his own that’s why he only uses his birth name Dwayne Johnson in every movie after The Gameplan. Shoutout to my man, my hero and a “father figure” to me ever since I was 6, Thank you Dwayne, I love you. ❤️

Big fan of the rock but definitely criticised him for being away for so long when he said he loved the WWE, this makes a TON of sense.Big fan of HHH too, but can totally believe this theory. Very interesting, I'd literally never heard anything on this, even the quiet release.

*WWE in 2005* : Yeah Rocks had it. He's not worth it anymore. Let him go.
*WWE in 2011* : Here's a blank check, your versing Cena at WM next year.

  • @rlouie05
    @rlouie05 4 роки тому +2

Cena referring to Rock's Hollywood run as some form of betrayal to the wrestling industry is quite ironic by the end of the 2010s, as dude himself gets to come back from his own Hollywood projects and be the one who ends AJ Styles' 1st WWF title reign, then get a spot at that year's WM to beat another full-timer in Miz and propose to his then-girlfriend only for that relationship to end too because he didn't want kids.

There's a lot of BS in here. Rock has always thanked WWE for their support - especially Vince McMahon - since The Scopion King days. Other WWE staff have been cited saying nothing but good wishes to Dwayne Johnson.
Much of these were TV interviews and WWE/WWF sketches throughout the years. There's just so many inconsistencies in what the video presents from what I'm aware of.

My thing is if the Rock was let go in 2005 why should he have to come back to wwe. Rock made a killing in the movies... i wont mention doom... i wont mention doom... I can though see why hhh was petty but it was nonsense. The rock had charisma when he became a heel and it was obvious he could make it in hollywood. The way he sold stunners should of told you that. I am sad though rock best gimmick is edited out due to copyright reasons... 1st rock concert...

And Cena shouldn't be saying shit abt what the Rock can or can't do that not his place. And is not like the rock wasn't trying to come back cause he even said it when he inducted his father n grandfather into the hall of fame... WWE fucked up here not the Rock

Are we thinking of the same guy?
Ask The Rock, Foley, Booker T or CM Punk to give an uncut opinion of the guy whose idea of "building talent" is getting guys from Japan or Ring of Honor and sticking them down in developmental for long enough that he can get credit for "discovering" them.

HHH was always bothered by the rock, he and HBK never wanted the rock to be champion. But rock outdid them all even stone cold in some ways go back to 98 it's even on podcasts here before corporate rock, his face pops were even louder than austin''s it even questioned the heel turn at the time, in which wwe still went with it because austin still was their guy regardless of the rock's popularity. Then come late 99 before survivor series rock's face pops yet again were getteing bigger than austin's he was even the favor to win the triple threat match at survivor series even moreso than austin, austin decides to take the time off for his much delayed neck surgery which worsened since 97 when owen hart piledrived him on that kiss my ass match. austin left the rock carried the company with ease and the ratings did not change a bit. HHH hated that. HHH straight hated seeing rock on top, he made sure he had the domination against the rock during their feud. go back to that feud. in no way a heel should have had that kind of domination over a top face. When hogan was the dominant heel of the nwo, he almost never beat nobody clean at all. He cheated all the time and showed fear against sting and goldberg on more than one occasion. BUt I think over the years one thing that's proven right when HHH stepped down as a full time wrestler and took over jonny ace's position let's give him credit even in interviews he put the rock over nicely more than you woudl ever expect. the bitterness others had on rock didn't come out of HHH's mouth and HHH spent time trying to get wrestlers to bury the hatchet witht he comany hence WARRIOR, JIM CORNETTE, etc. he's been the one trying to get these legends united with wwe in the hall of fame. Hell even kurt angle. Angle had a bad situation with wwe when he left in 2005 and even whent hey tried to renegotiate with him 4 years ago it went sour because they wanted him straight full time and not as a part timer. HHH was able to get mends made and after angle's hall of fame award winning speacht he next night he got a job as raw GM . HHH also had the power struggle against austin expecially after austin came back in 2000. the madison square garden incident took his spot out of king of the ring and as a run as main eventer in 96 to feud with shawn michaals for the title in which shawn admitted he was going to put HHH over. so he had that sour feeling with austin as well, I mean hell the man beat austin in a 3 round match straight super clean the month before wrestlemania x-7. yet even got more sour that he was not going to be in the main event at wm x-7 as he tried to pitch them to do the triple threat match austin/hhh/rock, the match you didn't get to see at survivor serious 99. wwe shot it down, they knew wm x-7 was going to be one of if not the biggest since hogan vs andre at wm 3 putting the two biggest stars against eachother in the history of wwe against with the exception of hogan. HHH hated it, didn't even want to feud with undertaker because HHH would not even come close to using his power against the lockerroom leader himself undertaker and that feud saw HHH lost clean as a whistle. The undertake was vince's most loyal guy next to shawn michaels, and what undertaker wanted, he got. So yeah rock was not the only one HHH had issues with, he had issues with austin and taker but now as the COO, he's done well withmaking mends with people and getting these legends back in the company in some way shape or form. so with that I think he;'s changed a lot and for the good. I can only imagine how good he's doing with NXT how wwe can be when he takes over the company completely

The Rock and StoneCold was a rivalry, The Rock and TripleH was just TripleH being very obviously jealous of the Rock. I could also put Cena and Mick Foley in that same category, they had alot of hate for the great one, but at least Foley tried to hide it.
