    I'm using a flow control valve however it's not working. It's releasing pressure as if I can't even meter it. Could I have it backwards?

    If the needle is almost closed, is the net amount of water going in per minute the same as coming out per minute? It seems like you'd lose gallons per minute.

      Yes you are right, in one direction you will have unrestricted flow and in the other direction almost no flow.

      That doesn't make sense. How can more water be going into the valve but less water leaves?

      I am sorry, I miss interpreted your question. If needle is almost closed, and lets say 0.5 gallons per minute flow goes in for 36 seconds and say 3 gallons per minute of water would come out in 6 second. While flow rates are 0.5 and 3 gallons per minute inward and outward respectively, the amount of water passing from the valve in both direction will be the same 0.3 gallons (notice that I don't say per minute). This is because 0.5 x 36 / 60 = 3 x 6 / 60 = 0.3 gallons. I hope this explains the confusion I had.

      But don't you have to keep the time interval the same? If one flow rate is 0.5 GPM, in one minute there will be 0.5 gallons. If the flow rate is 3 GPM, in one minute there will be 3 gallons. I think the speed and pressure are the variables that change.

    How can ristrictor reduce the flow
    Is restrictor control the flow by reduce the line Area?
    The flow is not depend of the line area, is it? Where Q1 = Q2, or A1v1=A2v2 ? Reducing the line area is only increace the fluid velocity..

      Q1 = Q2 = Q rule is always valid. However when the valve is in closed position Q becomes zero. When the needle is all the way open position Q depends the size of the valve. Small valve it could be 0.5 while large valve it could be 5 cubic meter per minute. In short Q is dependents on the needle position.

      You should look at the water height adjustment mechanism in your toilet tank.

      ah you're talking a float valve just about every toilet has one to manage tank fill bit for equine water tanks and livestock horses and cows they got these premade ones that stop the flow when the water pressure pushes back against it hooks right to a regular ole garden hose if you need a bigger more powerful one than that like for a 4 inch pipe or more then I'd think it's a custom build if ya need smaller they might have them somewhere just not sure where local toe is fleet farm or tractor supply l&m fleet they all got em but Walmart even has toilet repair kits and any local hardware store should ordering online ya probably gotta search engine it

    is there any way to control it by 1 flow valves ???

      I think not. You should use pressure relief valve for the pump.
